This looks amazing ZL. The only thing you may want to consider is outlining the lightbulb symbols so they show up better. Like this:

Power1v2.png Power2v2.png Power3v2.png

Cell Icon Level EMR Rating
Power1v2.png lights are on across the suburb A
Power2v2.png several buildings with power B-C
Power4.png no lights on down there D-F

Cell Icon Level
Phoneon.png Mobile phone mast powered on.
Phoneoff.png Mobile phone mast powered off.

‎ Power1v2.png 10-

Phoneoff.png Power4.png 100+

Phoneoff.png Power2v2.png ~50

Agreed, this is amazing. I'd be 100% behind a suburb level change like this. Incidentally, I believe EMRP does account for Ghost Towns. A EMRP of a ghost town would be something like "...flying over's a wasteland down there...can't see any signs of life...". ~Vsig.png 18:48, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Actually, here's a pretty good indicator of a ghost town from EMRP: Reports to Process - 25.96 MHz: "... crossing Ridleybank now, can see maybe a dozen down there ... all stragglers, no groups ... can't see any signs of life ... it's a wasteland down there ... the Blackmore Building has fallen - repeat, the Blackmore Building has fallen ..." (4 hours and 30 minutes ago)
Except that the zombies are inside to hold ruins...-MHSstaff 18:59, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Anyways, I'd also think about dumping the old radio transmission ones (where it is hard to tell if they are on or off) and just use something simple (like in the example).

As MHSstaff, these look great, but the radio transmitters are looking hard to see.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 19:04, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Yeah. The Helicopters don't see inside buildings SFHNAS once had 40+ zombies inside buildings and the EMRP said it was zombie free. Happy times. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:04, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Right, well I don't think this system will fix the problem of people inacurately updating suburb status based on EMRs. Those on the ground will still be the most reliable resource if a burb is a ghost town. Ghost Towns on the suburb map add value and IMO should be left. ~Vsig.png 19:34, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
One problem though is the ghost-town status is population-based, which this is getting away from. IMO, I think most ghost-towns are pulled from EMRs and are probably wrong. -MHSstaff 19:49, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks MHS, yes your radio/bulb icons are altogether better.-- | T | BALLS! | 20:32 20 February 2011(UTC)
Ok, I acquiesce, especially in light of ZL's new PKer and Ghost Town icons. Although, I'd kind of like to see the ghost town icon made a little bit less of an amorphous blob. Maybe similar to the light blulb icons. A white ghost with a black outline, perhaps? Maybe give the same treatment to PKer icon, too. ~Vsig.png 21:03, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Ghostv2.png. May or may not be useful. I like ZL's PK one personally, although figuring out the criteria for when to use it might be tricky. -MHSstaff 20:19, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Really nice work here ZL. I would get away from the population accounts entirely and ditch the ghost town/PKer presence icons. Also ditch the phone mast just to make the map easier to look at. If you're going to include icons I think one icon is the limit - the appeal of the suburb danger map has always been its simplicity. Finally, for the light bulbs you should try an icon with an empty bulb, a half full bulb, and a full one to indicate the different power levels. The reason for this is that we perceive color relative to other colors, fascinating subject but long story short a yellow bulb can look orange depending on the backdrop, so it may be confusing/difficult to see the difference in light bulb colors.--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 09:28, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
