Warehouse 45,75

Description

An unidentified Concerned Citizen poses in front of the warehouse.

An older building with run down facilities for storing and loading crates of shovels and other gardening equipment, this warehouse was once a clean white cinder block and aluminum walled structure. It was later expanded as demand for shovels increased through-out the city.

More recently, the building has been gradually decaying from disuse.

The interior showed signs of age. By all appearances, it had been out of service since before the quarantine. Even the typical piled crates of supplies were absent, with the few remaining crates long since pillaged.

The facility was rusted and moldy with cracked and missing windows.

History

Originally, this warehouse belonged to a branch of "GreenThumb Gardening Supply and Implement" or GreenThumb GST, Inc. The company specialized in the production of gardening equipment, seeds, and greenhouse components. For a few years, the company saw great prosperity as a trend of hobby gardening spread across the city and into other locals.

The warehouse was constructed in the mid-1980's as a supply depot for shovels and a few other gardening tools.

However, by the early 1990's the trend had changed. Gardening was "out". But demand for shovels grew. Specifically, GreenThumb secured a lucrative contract with Necro Tech and its subsidiaries. At that time, an addition was made to the warehouse to store the needed additional stock of shovels. And, of course, the other gardening supplies were moved to a different facility.

Unfortunately, that demand soon fell as well. Annalists blame the shovel's durability for the sudden decrease in demand. GreenThumb originally boasted that their shovels could withstand an explosion. The stock simply lasted too long. Sales fell and the Necro Tech contract expired.

GreenThumb was forced to liquidate excess stock and close several warehouses.

By the day of the initial outbreaks in Malton, this warehouse had seen years of neglect. The few remaining crates of shovels had started to crack and crumble with age. And survivors of the initial outbreak were quick to claim the surplus stock.

Now, only abandoned survivor wares and the occasional old maintenance supply such as a can of fuel or a fire ax can be found within.

But on the 29th day of December 2007, a group of survivors moved into the building in hopes that it could be used as a safe house. The success or failure of their endeavor has yet to be seen.

Barricade Policy

The Concerned Citizens try to follow any suburb's uniform barricade policy. As a warehouse, it is acceptable to barricade this building to EHB. Moreover, the Citizens ask that barricades be maintained at that level to help provide a proper safe house for weary travelers and group members alike.

Current Status

17 March 2008
After a period of quiet despite attacks in the area, the warehouse was assaulted again today. It is currently ruined with four zombies inside. -- BackBraker 02:03, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

12 March 2008
Defenses are limited due to the scattered nature of CC's members at present and over-all vulnerability of the area at the moment. But the building has been repaired and barricaded to EHB. -- BackBraker 03:42, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

07 March 2008
A zombie horde has entered Tapton and initiated efforts to damage the infrastructure. The warehouse is one of many buildings that have been overrun. Three inside at this time with one badly wounded survivor. Barricades have been rebuilt to Lightly Barricaded, but are expected to fall quickly. -- BackBraker 06:59, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Just logged back in to check and the warehouse has indeed been ruined. -- BackBraker 07:16, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

02 March 2008
The building is currently secure with EHB status, CC radio transmitter, and a generator fueled and running. The entry point at Morrhall Drive Fire Station is also up and running with generator and VSB cades. -- BackBraker 03:16, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

30 December 2007

Wave the banner of the Frohman... carefully. These things can be dangerous.

A relatively new group to Malton, the Concerned Citizens have moved into the warehouse. It is relatively secure at the moment with Extra Heavy barricades. It is powerless at the moment, but plans to improve that notion are in the works. Entry may be gained from Morrhall Drive Fire Station [46, 74], a shared entry point. -- BackBraker 03:18, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
