Remember remember the 5th of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot...

Planning

Codename V once said:

"Verily, we do always face uncertainty and terror. Right now I wish for my friends and allies to think once more about the middle of Malton, Ridleybank. I seek that you reignite the fire of battle and load up, stock up and get ready to move into the heart of Malton on the 5th of November. Show the badge of our cause on your pages. Brandish weapons, tool kits and the dexterity of greatness. This 5th of November, 2007, let us flood into Ridleybank like a burst dam and heal, recuperate and repair the centre of our fair city!"

The Fifth of November assault is one of the biggest survivor events of the year, and made a roaring comeback in 2015. For 10 years, Ridleybank has been one of the most well known suburbs in the city, and for 10 years, the RRF has claimed it as their homeland. This year, we retake Ridleybank from the hordes that claim it as theirs.

Lets make this a day for survivors to celebrate, and for zombies to fear again.

NecroConnect is running the 5th of November festivities, and providing spaces on their forums for both survivors and zombies to plan for the assault. stelar (talk) 13:10, 24 October 2016 (UTC)

Quotes

Johnny Threefingers, Benjamin Moore and Simcoe of the EBD, after Johnny and Benjamin did a tandem repair run
Johnny: Killed 1 inside Woodland and did the 14 AP repair. Benjamin probably will take over from there.
FAKs would be welcome since I may have faceplanted once or twice.
Benjamin: Uhh... I may have 1HP left due to an infection. Nothing like living on the edge!
Simcoe: Alright, got these two hooligans FAK'd

What Went Down

Preparations

On October 5th, Bob Moncrief started a thread on the NecroConnect forums asking whether or not people were interested in a 5th of November event this year, since the previous year's went so well. Over the next week, several zombies, survivors and PKers reacted positively, and by October 20th, Johnny Threefingers and others got things started, with planning threads popping up in both the survivor and zombie sections of the forum and invitations being sent to several groups on both sides. Radio Malton announced that they'd cover the event live, and the first 5th of November broadcast went live on October 24th, with subsequent broadcasts on October 26th, 28th, 31st and November 2nd.

The Ridleybank Resistance Front didn't hesitate, with Papa Bosch asking for zombie support early on as they geared up to repel the invaders of their homelands, and The Scourge was the first to respond in support of the RRF.

On the 2nd of November, Papa Bosch delivered the below speech on NecroConnect:

Bosch said:
It's that time of year again!

This coming Saturday November 5th sees the return of the takeout that delivers itself as a rag-tag collection of harmanz offer themselves up free of charge, steamin' hot and straight to the front door of the Ridleybank Resistance Front - the Blackmore Building!

On the menu this year, as ever, a veritable smorgasbord of assorted breathers, wheezers and trenchcoaters will be laid on in Ridleybank by ch(i)efs from Malton's finest free-range meat suppliers - including the 'Department of Emergency Management', 'East Becktown Survivors' and 'Dunell Hills Police Dept.' - and all zombies are invited!

"This sounds awfully tasty, what can I do to get involved?"

Head on over to Ridleybank, it's almost dead centre in the middle of Malton! Prowl the suburb and rip down the barricades that appear, eating/sampling any and all inhabitants! If it's all ruined, try and block or two over the borders into the surrounding suburbs. Finish up by sleeping inside a ruined building, especially those close to Blackmore. Towards the end of the week, save up your AP for the big(?) weekend feast and head on over to Blackmore on November 5th itself!

Remember, remember, on the fifth of November, dinner is served, and you've got the best table in the house!

(You wouldn't want to turn down an all-you-can-eat-buffet now, would you?!)

(P.S. if you're a harman, you gunna die <3)

On the survivor side, invitations were sent to the DEM, The Fortress, MCM, East Becktown Defenders, The Malton Zookeepers, Knights Templar, Soldiers of Crossman, Dunell Hills Police Department and the Army Control Corps.

In the week before the 5th, a gathering of East Becktown Defenders and a single Zookeeper went into glorious battle, and Combat Revived most of the undead occupants of the Blackmore Building, after which they repaired it and barricaded the doors. They were soon joined by several Malton Rangers and held their ground for several days, until the barricades were breached on the 4th. Some friendly/passive aggressive banter was exchanged between several of the occupiers and the local zombie population, with at least one zombie referencing his "banana" in an inappropriate manner.

November 4th also marked the final day of preparations and Radio Malton launched a call to arms on a wide range of frequencies.

The First Battles

When the big day arrived, several dozen zombies had retaken the Blackmore and were occupying the premises, while forces of the EBD, SoC, ACC, The Malton Zookeepers, MFD, Malton Rangers and DHPD were establishing a beachhead in Ridleybank.

The local zombies of the RRF had been reinforced by a good portion of roaming hordes The Scourge and LUE by the end of the weekend as they repelled each attempt at clearing the only NecroTech facility of the suburb. Several safe houses and TRPs that were repaired in the immediate vicinity were breached and cleared of all "harman infestations" as well.

The first 5th of November update of Radio Malton was broadcast on November 7th, in which it stated that several key Tactical Resource Points were in the middle of heated battles between survivors and zombies.

According to several survivor sources, the revive points at Margery Avenue and St. Theodore's Church are active and well maintained.

By November 11th, 21 zombies (most of them from the RRF) were occupying the Blackmore Building, while crews of RRF, The Scourge and feral zombies attacked safe houses and resource buildings in the area. Several PKers had entered the fray, with DEM members being targeted by the Philosophe Knights. Nichols, Tynte and Hildebrand Malls were being used as the focus points of gathering and resource areas in this phase of the battle.

The Reverse Siege of Blackmore

By the 14th, it had became apparent that this siege was different than most previous ones, as the zombies still occupied the Blackmore and survivors were limited to try and clear the building, while roaming zombie strike teams attacked any repaired buildings they could find near it. In an odd way, this was the exact opposite from a classic siege, in which survivors hold on to a building and take part in cade strafing, with zombie hordes trying to break in...
