Basic Info:

  • Malls are an excellent place to find a wide range of items; the only major items that cannot be found here are revivification syringes and fuel cans. As such, Malls are frequently used as safehouses and fortresses by survivors. Zombies often check inside (when they can get in), and organized zombie groups sometimes lay siege to them. They are listed as a Tactical Resource Point.

Ackland Mall is a four-block shopping mall in the suburb of Havercroft and was the scene of the Battle of the Bear Pit, The Ides Of March, Second Siege of Ackland Mall, Black Christmas Siege and the most recent War of the North West Frontier. This is also the only shopping mall with a Goth Clothes store. Lastly, this mall is the location of the tomb of Ron Burgundy, leader of men and scourge of Wes Mantooth.

Nearby NecroTech Buildings

There are no NecroTech Buildings in Havercroft, nor are there any in the neighboring suburb of Lerwill Heights.

The NecroTech Buildings within ten blocks of the mall, listed from nearest to farthest, are:

  1. The Stagg Building in Lukinswood (26, 47; distance 6-7 W, 2-3 S)
  2. The Nix Building in Barrville (40, 43; distance 7-8 E, 1-2 N)
  3. The Brennand Building in Shore Hills (30, 52; distance 2-3 W, 8-9 S)
  4. The Daubeney Building in East Becktown (26, 35; distance 6-7 W, 9-10 N)
  5. The Eagan Building in Barrville (43, 46; distance 10-11 E, 1-2 S)

Communication

Maltel.gif

The radio frequency for Ackland Mall is 27.50 MHz.

The North-East corner of Ackland Mall contains the mobile phone mast for the suburb of Havercroft. It is important to note that of all of the Malls and Forts, this is the only one with a phone mast. Thusly, holding the NE corner of the building is of vital importance to humans. In this respect, only the Herman Building is similar in being of both strategic and tactical value.

Sadly, this tactical advice was invalidated with the large buildings update making malls one building 2x2 large and internal defense is nearly impossible.

To update the mast status, please update the Ackland Mall Danger Report and alter the mast_status line based on the condition of the North-East corner of the mall.

Local Authorities

Header.JPGAckland Mall Security serves as the primary law enforcement agency and regional defense authority in this area.

March 18th

A shambling tide washes over Ackland Mall, leaving the western half ruined. With less than fifteen breathers left to defend the remain two quarters, victory is certain. Eyewitnesses report Tarumigan Gistarai fleeing the scene in characteristic fashion as grim-faced defenders prepare to sacrifice themselves in the coming fight for the safety of their comrades. --Thrownaway 21:46, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

First off, that was hardly an NPOV statement. Much more seriously, it was an insult directed at me personally. Allow me to set the historical record straight. I did not "flee the scene" in abject terror. I held the line virtually all day on March 17-18 when the Mall fell. I used ALL of my Action Points trying to keep the zombies out (God only knows how I managed to survive long enough to recoup my AP and make a getaway after that). I only departed once it was clear that the zombie force inside the mall was overwhelming and that it could not be purged. Furthermore, I had a direct order from my superior officer Nuerotoxic (the Commander of AMS) to move down to Marven Mall. It was an order that was several days old as of March 18, and it was a command I had been ignoring because my services were needed at Ackland Mall. I fought, I killed, and I caded, and there were plenty of folks in the southwest quad who saw me in action between March 10 and March 18. And by all means..."sacrifice yourself in the coming fight" as often as you like. The zombies applaud every time they hear or see a survivor willing to stand his ground no matter how incredibly suicidal it is to do so. It gives them people to eat. It's the equivalent of basting yourself in ketchup and throwing yourself into the horde complete with relish. It ranks up there with the now infamous Ackland "Fight for our home, yo!" that got several hundred people eaten by LUE zombies when THEY held their ground against equally long odds. I fight and fight hard, but I don't commit suicide just to satisfy your sense of bravado. --Tarumigan Gistarai 03:25, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
