Basic Info:

  • Excellent place to find first aid kits. Zombies frequently check inside.
  • Portable Generators have a use other than powering the lights and increasing search probability in hospitals. Players with the Surgery Skill can heal for 15 HP if the Hospital has a fueled up Generator.
  • Hospitals can be barricaded normally.
  • Among the internal descriptions found in Hospitals:
    • "...its wards and corridors blackened with the soot of a recent fire"
    • "...its empty wards criss-crossed with snapped quarantine tape."
    • "...one of the city's psychiatric hospitals."
    • "...dark corridors leading through abandoned wards."
    • "...its emergency room in disarray."
    • "...its lobby covered with quarantine posters."
    • "...a children's hospital with bright murals across the walls. "
    • "The main lobby is riddled with bullet holes."
    • "It was one of the last to be evacuated, and seems to have been cleared out in a hurry."
    • "...a derelict hospital that was closed down years ago."

Description

Maltonhospitals.PNG

Agathius General Hospital is a hospital located in the suburb of Paynterton.

Agathius General Hospital was a small hospital clinic built in 1972 that specialized in cosmetic surgery. Of course local citizens questioned the purpose of such a clinic in Paynterton, where at the time they had hoped for money to be spent for improvements to St. Isidore's Hospital, which was starting to show it age. Of course the city council made promises to look into improving medical benefits in Paynterton for years to come. It was only due to the serious backlog in seriously patients that the Malton city council finally chose to act, but rather than declare additional funding for St. Isidore's Hospital, or perhaps even retooling Agathius General Hospital to meet public needs, they instead announced they would build a brand new hospital, namely Leo General Hospital.

In the time following the "Malton Incident" Agathius General became an important hub for survivors in the suburb since the hospital was located near the Wares Plaza revive point. The nearest NecroTech installations are the Cater Building, located in nearby Dunningwood, and the Robbins Building in Paynterton. Agathius General Hospital is one of three hospitals in Paynterton. The other hospitals are:

Mandate

The staff at Agathius General Hospital try to always support the following ideals:

1) To provide medical assistance to anyone and everyone who enters.
2) To cure the infected.
3) To keep the building at maximum barricades, so as to provide shelter during a suburb-wide zombie siege.

It is asked that survivors please note whether or not there is a portable generator within the hospital, and whether it has fuel or not. As a working portable generator is required for the Surgery skill it is asked the survivors provide support by replacing either the generator when destroyed or refilling its fuel supply when its exhausted. This in turn will allow the medical staff to provide more efficient aid to the injured.

Barricade Policy

Very Strongly Barricaded per Paynterton Barricade Plan.

Current Events

3rd of June 2013

"Here is my updated report for anyone that might read to find it of good use. Barricade status : Extremely Heavy - should attack barricades lowering them to Very Strongly Barricaded allowing access for survivors and citizens seeking refugee cures & F.A.Ks.

Currently, there is one zombie lurking outside,in search for weak prey to munch upon - approach with caution." Concerned Citizen shares bits of his concernful knowledge accumulated through trials errors & hardship facing the hordes:

"Zombies will most likely group or scout tactical buildings such as Hospitals where injured, infected people may happen to pass & be easy prey;especially if the barricade level is above Very Strongly, which will restrict entering the building directly.

Other means of gaining access to buildings that are above VSB is having the Free Running skill. CAUTION : one still has to first find and enter a building at VS barricade level;only then may benefit from the above mentioned skill, passing from one building to another.

BUT : clicking on any other than a building (monument,road/alley/boulevard/plaza,wasteland) will get you out in the open

ALSO : if you happen to try and use F.R. to cross from one building you are in to another that has been ransacked destroyed ruined by anyone or anything out there, you will get a message saying your way is blocked & end up outside of the location you've selected to go to.

My own 2c on barricades is that most of the barricade plans are outdated overrated, many buildings would necessitate updates.

A good simple use of the barricades benefiting survivors would be having ALL buildings with active survivors, taking care of them, set to Very Strongly Barricaded allowing all humanoid life forms to seek shelter, easily traveling around and about;each suburb may have their citizens holding up a few key buildings:at least one of each:

hospital,NecroTech for revival,Police Station ,Factory,Armory,Tower with running antennas,etc.

Of course,if any survivors in or out the respective building should meddle with the VSB barricade in any way, that individual may be questioned...

zombie groups & their supporters have a habit of either crushing barricades or raising their level so high rendering the buildings useless either for entering or leaving them.

Nasty,eh?Well, that's what I'd like to report after watching quite a lot of buildings around Malton and seeing which strategy is plaid;there is need for balancing and better organisation.

One last though - any other buildings that would not be in use by several active survivors, should be barricaded to the highest level possible or left in ruin - zombies have no use of ruined buildings except for sleeping in them, but that's about it."

EDIT : VSB is the best strongest barricade level that still allows access to survivors.
