Malton Electric was the equal largest electricity and gas supplier and retailer in Malton prior to the outbreak (rivaling Malton's other gas and electricity supplier, [[Malton Power & Light]]). A state government enterprise of... the state that Malton is in... it supplied power and gas to both [[Malton]] and [[Monroeville]] (via subterranean cables beneath the ocean floor). Rumours that a [[Wikipedia:Power outage|blackout]] around June 2005 is linked with the [[Malton Incident]] are still unconfirmed.

While Malton Electric's origins lie shrouded in a figurative cloud of mystery, all known sources state that the company was formed after a textbook merger in 1988 between Malton Electronography (est. [[Great Fire of 1912|1912]]) and Longman Electric (founded by [[Sir Dick Longman]] in 1986).
