Basic Info:

  • Excellent place to find first aid kits. Zombies frequently check inside.
  • Portable Generators have a use other than powering the lights and increasing search probability in hospitals. Players with the Surgery Skill can heal for 15 HP if the Hospital has a fueled up Generator.
  • Hospitals can be barricaded normally.
  • Among the internal descriptions found in Hospitals:
    • "...its wards and corridors blackened with the soot of a recent fire"
    • "...its empty wards criss-crossed with snapped quarantine tape."
    • "...one of the city's psychiatric hospitals."
    • "...dark corridors leading through abandoned wards."
    • "...its emergency room in disarray."
    • "...its lobby covered with quarantine posters."
    • "...a children's hospital with bright murals across the walls. "
    • "The main lobby is riddled with bullet holes."
    • "It was one of the last to be evacuated, and seems to have been cleared out in a hurry."
    • "...a derelict hospital that was closed down years ago."

Malton Hospitals

The Anne General Hospital in Whittenside is located in the SE corner of the city.

As it is located next to a Necrotech building, And the Mobile Phone Mast for the suburb, There is little wonder in why the Whittenside Medical Corps decided to set up base here.

This building requires a generator for maximum usefulness.

History

One of the city’s psychiatric hospitals, Anne General was a treatment center for the criminally insane prior to the outbreak. As the virus took over and quarantine went into effect, Anne General became the site of an early massacre as zombies, halted by the quarantine effort, turned back toward the city center, devouring all in their path. Many of the patients within Anne General became zombies, and even after the recovery effort began, chose to remain that way, rigorously avoiding Necrotech treatment.

When Fort Perryn was reactivated to deal with the crisis at hand, Anne’s halls once more became flooded with patients from the fort suffering from combat fatigue or post traumatic stress disorder, conditions for which the aid provided in the fort infirmary was inadequate. Thus it remained until the first fall of the fort and the subsequent fall of the suburb.

Now, when in survivor hands at least, the majority of the hospital’s rooms for the treatment of psychiatric disorder remain empty or serve as barracks and the building has been converted for use as a first aid facility. Still, the security requirements of its original function render it easily defendable and its position next to the Colglough Building make it a strategic centerpiece of the Whittenside restoration effort.
