Description

Few trees remain.

A grand town square, once home to some of Malton's oldest aristocratic families.

History

Formerly Roadkill Square, this exclusive town square was renamed after William Axworthy in 1948, to commemorate the eccentric's invention of the Dreadnought Trademarked Steam-Driven Automatic Axe, which was demonstrated to the general public in the Square in 1848. Almost all of the elm trees were cut down in the space of an hour at the cost of only one small child, who was caught in the machinery and hacked to pieces.

Since 2005, many more people have been hacked, clawed, rent or headshot to pieces in Axworthy Square, which has consequently lost much of its pre-outbreak cachet as an address.
