Description

Borthwick Alley, prior to the Outbreak.

A steep and narrow alley, difficult to pass through due to a large amount of garbage lying around. The only thing even slightly notable is a small bronze plaque, which has become unreadable.

History

The alley was named in memory of Sir Madeu P. Borthwick, a notable member of the local community and part of a little known noble family, who was found murdered there in 2003. The police initially believed the killer to be a member of a local paramilitary group attacking birds in the area.

This theory was based on the fact that Sir. Borthwick several times had stated that birds are for eating, watching and listening to - not shooting and just leaving them there. However, it was later discovered that the true murderer had been Sir. Borthwick's nephew, Sir Jamie Borthwick, who wanted to inherit his uncle's vast collection of postage stamps.

A memorial plaque was placed on the scene of Sir Borthwick's murder.

Since the Malton Incident in 2005, the alley has seen little use.
