History and Significance

The Malton City Zoo is home to a survivor group known as The Malton Zookeepers. They are responsible for keeping hostile zombies out of the Zoo, maintaining safe places for visitors to sleep, operating revive points near the Zoo boundaries, and general upkeep of the grounds. The Zookeepers welcome friendly zombies who agree to abide by basic rules of conduct, and even maintain a zombie exhibit in the Zoo's now-abandoned Aquarium.

The Aquarium was once home to a small group of undead, locally known as The Deep Ones. The status of The Deep Ones is currently unknown, however, the Zookeepers keep the Aquarium open and unbarricaded for all zombies to use as a shelter, and for all visitors to get a chance to observe the zombies in a safe environment.

Since the early outbreaks, the animals that fled the Zoo have wandered back, and can regularly be seen roaming the Zoo grounds and sleeping in safehouses outside of the Zoo's boundaries.

The Zookeepers hosted The Halloween Hootenanny of Horror for the first time last year, and it was a huge hit. We would like to thank everyone who came to the zoo to take part in the fun. We hope you'll all be back this year!
