Clothes/Suggestions

From The Urban Dead Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

This page is for suggestions of new clothes to be implemented into the game.

These suggestions should be limited to clothes which would have no specific game effect; if you want to suggest a clothing type which would give the wearer an automatic bonus or penalty, it should instead be submitted as a standard suggestion. (Relatedly, if players of the game could reasonably expect your suggested item to have some significant game effect, when they put it on - such as an ammo belt or a parachute - it shouldn't be proposed as a zero-effect piece of decorative clothing.)

How to Suggest

  • New suggestions go at the bottom of the list.

Suggestions should use this setup:

==Name suggestion==
Description of the item, preferably including slot used, colour
and the location were it would be found. --~~~~
===Yes (Name suggestion)===
Votes for go here
===No (Name suggestion)===
Votes against go here
  • To vote simply sign your name with a timestamp (4 tildes --> ~~~~)at the appropriate place. Only one vote per person.
  • Suggestions being cycled for space constraints should be sorted according to the slot they use. Cycling should be used to keep the page below 15 suggestions at a time.
  • Kevan is the final arbiter and he decides whether he implements a suggestion based on his own judgement (and hopefully popular support)
  • Do not forget to check if clothing already exists, and check the archives in case it has been suggested already
  • To add a new suggestion, please copy the above code, click here, paste the code, and edit as required.

Pilot's Jumpsuit

Something like a green / brown / orange jumpsuit with a helmet + oxygen apparatus + Velcro compartments / sidearm holster. Possibly with military / medical logos, Found at Forts / Hospitals (respectively). Uses either the Gown slot or the trousers slot. (Probably gown, so pants / shirts can be worn underneath) --User Zen Kartel 23:53, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes (Pilot's Jumpsuit)

  1. I'm going againgst my usual "no new military gear - ever" ethos here, but I do kind of like this one. Maybe it's a bit of belated christmas spirit, or maybe it's because this is a bit different and not on the tired old lines of army hats and different coloured camoflage shirts or whatever.--SeventythreeTalk 17:23, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Sure, why not.--Jamie Cantwell3 04:56, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
  3. I'll say 'yes'. But other jumpsuits should be available, like yellow (Kill Bill style), orange (worker/Dale Gribble style) and black (ninjas/ assassins/dominatrix style). Comrade 47, 21:50, 22 February 2008 (UTC).

Detailed T-shirts

Well first the obvious, they would go in the shirt slot. they can be in two colours heres an example "wearing a yellow t-shirt with MRH? printed in big black words". also there could just be patterns like "wearing a black shirt with a red (possibly geo-metric) pattern printed across it" or ofcourse the classic "wearing a black shirt with "I Looted Caiger Mall and All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt" printed in green". found in malls and possibly towers or hotels. Maybe put on badges too. The same could be done with pants but first I'll see what you think of this. Belts

A new clothing category: BELTS

To start out with, belts would come in leather (in future, people could suggest other materials). They would also come in various colors: black, brown, dark brown, and tan. Just for clarification, this would be your standard, metal buckle belt that you'd use to hold up your pants.

Belts would be found in Malls and Mansions.

I don't think anyone has suggested this before, but if they have, please let me know. --Hhal 17:42, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

  23. Go on then. What with the limited choice of clothes (sizes), I suspect a belt would be very handy - Zig13 - 16/06/2008 at 12:29(BST)

No (Belts)

  1. Clothing is generally representational - you have to imagine the stuff that goes along with it all, like cufflinks and blets and buttons and shoelaces and socks etc. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:22, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
That's true, but a belt isn't as much of an accessory as a button, or a cufflink. It's more of an independent item of clothing. For instance, you can't attach your imaginary holsters to a shoelace. A belt is used for a lot more things than other accessories. --Hhal 00:29, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
  2. No. too minor --~~~~ [talk] 13:28, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Not necessarily. If you look here, you'll see that there are dozens of different minor neck accessories such as ties and necklaces. --Hhal 16:59, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
first of all, very nice of you to refer me to a page i created. secondly, you only strength my arguement: neck items are major - it could be a common tie, a bow-tie, a scarve, a piece of jewellery. Let's see what kinds of items will go to belts, hmmm... black belt. brown belt. leather belt. oh, how major! What about lacing category too then? --~~~~ [talk] 17:34, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Tribal Masks

My apologies if this has been mentioned before and I just missed it, but I think I reviewed them all and didn't see it. This item would be for the Face slot, to be located in Museums. Most museums I have visited in my life have large collections of tribal masks from around the world, so I felt this would make for a solid addition to the game with a rarity on the level of our current Puppet Museum masks. I'd assume that descriptions would be by continent (an African tribal mask, an Australian tribal mask, et alia) though being more specific (a Native American tribal mask, a Maori tribal mask, a Zulu tribal mask, a Norse tribal mask) wouldn't be a bad idea, either. I just don't want to see too much overkill. --Diano 07:10, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes (Tribal Masks)

  1. Author Vote: Of course I'm voting yes. I wouldn't suggest it if I couldn't stand behind it, though my feelings won't be hurt if it's unpopular. --Diano 07:10, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Headphones and Ear Buds

There are currently no clothes to be found in clubs. And now-a-days, you see people walking around with iPods and MP3 players and whatnot. And you sometimes see their ear buds or headphones hanging around their necks. That's what this suggestion is. 2 new pieces of clothing for the neck slot, but only found in clubs and malls. The Ear Buds are like those iPod ear buds. They'll come in white, black, green, pink, and some other colors. The Headphones are slightly bigger then Ear Buds, but who cares? Size doesn't matter here. They will come in blue and black, and maybe some other colors. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 17:05, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Backpacks!!

Purely because my suggestion for a use for them is going down the toilet right now and I haven't yet got around to writing a revision, I thought I should suggest them here.

Right, moan over. Time for the suggestion. Backpacks will require a new slot for Accessories to be created, this means that more stuff can be added as time goes on. Anyway, back to the topic at hand: Backpacks can be found in Malls, Offices, Police Stations, Hospitals and Fire Stations. They can come in a variety of colours including your basic red, blue, green, black etc and patterns such as Tartan and Camouflage. They don't do anything (yet) but will look rather nice with your black trenchcoat, pink skirt combo. --Cheeseman W!RandomTalk 22:03, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Pipes, Cigars and Cigarettes

Before someone says "OH NOEZ CIGARETTES IS BAD 4U!", I think that if zombies started beating down my door, I would probably take up smoking again. Pipes, Cigars and Cigarettes would occupy a head face slot, and would have NO use in-game other than flavor. Pipes could be found in mansions, cigars could be found in mansions and arms (bar) buildings, and cigarettes could be found in arms and clubs. #CHANGE - if you change it to a FACE slot, I'll back you. Why would you put a pipe on your head? Also, I get that it's inspired by a previous suggestion, but that sort of makes it a dupe. If you want multiple kinds of tobacco products as facewear, suggest them separately. --Diano (vote changed by author)

You are right on the "Face" slot thing, Diano, I changed it to face because that is what I meant in the first place. Although I will counter your assertion that this is a dupe: although it deals with the same subject, the suggestion that I reference has in-game effects, this does not. It is simply there for flavor...sweet tobaccoey flavor.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  20:54, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Frock

Click on the title for an example. A Frock is a man's coat characterized by knee-length skirts all around the base, unlike the tail coat and the morning coat. The frock coat is fitted, long-sleeved, of knee-length, with a collar and lapels (revers), a center vent, and a waist seam for optimal waist suppression. It is normally used for formal occasions and is the typical coat used by butchers. Colors come in black, charcoal gray, and white. It would use the coat slot, which should allow people to also wear an apron if they are so inclined. It would be found in Malls, Warehouses (slaugherhouse?), Hotel, and Mansions. --Akule School's in session. 20:41, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

SWAT Team Uniform

The SWAT uniform would most likely be found in Police Departments or maybe Forts, It includes a:

Black PASGT Helmet (Head), Protective Eye Goggles (Face), Black SWAT BDU Shirt (Shirt), Black SWAT HMPE Vest (Jacket), Black SWAT Cargo Pants (Trousers), Black Combat Steel-Reinforced Boots (Footwear)

These would be very logical items in the city of Malton just because most Police Departments will have a SWAT Team and most of them being former Military I wouldn't think it would be to much of a stretch to believe that these uniforms might also end up being on a Military Fort. --Dante GunZ

Its logical that survivors would want lots of pockets for holding small, light items, but (unlike above) this is a common consumer item with no implied benefit, unless maybe Malton had a fishing hole I'm not aware of. Would be found in malls (sporting goods stores) and would come in tan plus maybe a few "woodsy" colors or camouflage. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 00:45, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

I believe that the same rules apply in Clothing as they do in Suggestions, even if they do not, it is logical to strike an unsigned vote. Think about it this way: I could just make a suggestion, then vote for myself about a million times. I could go through the history, figure out who voted for it, then put the "this unsigned comment was left by...", but I really don't have that kind of time.  Billy Club Thorton  T!  RR  18:23, 8 April 2008 (BST)

Socks!!

I can't believe that we haven't suggested this before! We need socks! They could either be in the same slot as footwear or a separate slot altogether (similar to Coat and Jacket slots) and come in a nice variety of colours and styles (examples below). They would be found in Malls, Hotels and various other places.
Examples:

  • Woolly knitted socks (various colours)
  • Odd socks (various colours)
  • Ankle socks (various colours)
  • Sports socks (various colours)
  • Novelty socks (Reindeer, Cartoon characters, etc)

Either way, socks are good. :) And in a zombie apocalypse you need to get your feet warm. -- Cheese 22:36, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

If somebody's inside and wearing socks without shoes before the zombies kill them, then they'll be stuck with socks but no shoes throughout their zombie life. The Pea Coat, though military in it's conception, has become a part of many day to day wardrobes. It would appeal in game as a slightly anachronistic item, perfect for a lovecraft-inspired character. Beach Wear

Sometimes it's warm outside. Sometimes people go to the beach. With a complete lack of swimming trunks, flip flops, arm floaties and the like (okay, maybe not arm floaties), it's no wonder the city is such a gloomy place. Ushanka/Shapka

Wha?
First off, I guess I should explain what exactly an 'ushanka' is. We generally call them shapkas here in the western world, but they're basically the Russian fur caps you see plastered all over movies and TV. They're usually used in the Russian police and military, but they're pretty common among civilians both Russian and Western.

Russian hats?! Here?!
Ushankas aren't just Russian these days! They're practical winter wear, and people love them. They're stylish, exotic and practical. Therefore, it makes sense that you'd find them in Malton.

I don't need that!
Ah, but think of those who do! Russian wannabes, casual survivors, maniacs, zombies... I'm sure there are plenty of people who will love the addition of ushankas to the game!
So how does that work?
Ushankas would go in the hat slot, and would probably come in black, brown and gray. As finding them goes, the hat store in Thompson mall would be ideal. I dunno, though, I guess they could go in PDs and forts, too. --Private McKinley 16:13, 30 April 2008 (BST)

Lingere / Lingere store

Most malls have one or two lingere stores, and so should one of the malls in Malton. Lingere would generally go in the shirt or maybe trousers slots, because if you are wearing a normal shirt or trousers, people would not be able to see it. I'll leave the exact types up to the imagination, but the general focus would be on classy items suitable for PG public exposure; think "Madonna video", not "bachelor party gag gift". 2. Being the founder of Lumber Mall Security I totally agree with the minor flavour traffic boost which it would bring here, it'd be nice to have a thong thing of our own.

I'm guessing that people would say it's slightly innapropriate for a game to have one of these, but as a counter I would say that all malls that I have ever seen have one. So why not in Urban Dead? Acoustic Pie 19:16, 13 May 2008 (BST)

New Damage Tag for Hats: Battered

As anyone who likes to collect (or, at the very least, wear) hats knows, certain kinds of hats use some sort of rigid support to keep their shape. Naturally, these supports can be damaged fairly easily. Therefore, it would make sense for such hats to become battered out of shape, especially in the middle of something as rough as a zombie apocalypse. --Specialist290 20:56, 4 June 2008 (BST)

A simple, classy sweater vest, using the jacket slot, available in all colors, and found in Malls, Hotels and Towers. There are sweaters and waistcoats, but niether of these are quite the same thing. A sweater vest is lighter and is usually worn under a coat of some sort; It is lighter than the usual sweater, and more durable and informal than a silk waistcoat. Customizable Clothing

Players could create their own clothing items. An example could be "a <description> baseball cap." In place of "<description>", they could write their own descriptions of their clothing. This would allow more individuality in character profiles.

A character limit would be imposed, to save space. A profanity filter might also be necessary.

For example:

"an Arizona Cardinals football T-shirt" "a blue, mustard-stained baseball cap" "a pair of ragged, holey blue jeans"
