Basic Info:

  • Clubs are Dark buildings.
  • The usual internal description of a Club reads as follows:
"…in the near-darkness of the main dancefloor."
  • When powered by a portable generator, the internal description changes to the following:
"Coloured spotlights highlight an empty stage, and distorted music echoes over the speakers."
  • Clubs can be barricaded normally.

Club Popham is Gibsonton's Social Club.

Club Popham is now a derelict concrete building with a collapsed roof. Collapse.jpg

Opened in the 1930s, it has been the social focal-point for the local community of factory workers for over 70 years.

Club Popham rugby team won the Malton Necrotech cup in 1973 and 1981, reaching the final on 4 other occasions.

By far their best sporting achievement was darts. They won the BullsEye trophy 17 times, the first time was in 1946, and they won it three years in a row from 2002-2004.

They were on the verge of winning it for the fourth time in a row in 2005, when star player, Jim (5 pints) Lockley was savagely bitten by his opponent in the first recorded zombie incident in Club Popham.

Club Popham also drew a crowd of regulars for its music and variety act evenings. They frequently had tribute bands on. Even after the outbreak they managed to book Led Zedlin (believed to be the first tribute zombie act)
