Description

As befits Wykewood's only factory, it is not a vast, concrete-and-corrugated-iron monstrosity but a charming artisanal craft shop.

History

Hipster, or mindless zombie? How does one tell?

Situated in Wykewood's 'edgy' northern borders, Ziggy Speidermann's Authentic Ax Shop catered to the idle, bored trust fund kids of Wykewood's elites. These proto-hipsters (i.e. hipsters who were hipsters before it became, uh, 'mainstream') cultivated outlandish beards like those of their 19th century forefathers, and also affected early Victorian style in other (ironic) ways such as rags, cloth caps and tuberculosis, and pretending to work back-breaking 18-hour days at t'mill.

Naturally, these rich youths needed authentic axes for their ironic dejeuners sur l'herbe (translation: "smoking weed for lunch") in the local parks, and Ziggy was the man. Taking mass-produced Chinese axes, slapping on some paint and calling them 'art' at several hundred pounds apiece was just the ticket.

In truly ironic fashion, Ziggy's 'artwork' did in fact prove of some use after the Outbreak, although the proto-hipsters' atrophied arm muscles and limp wrists proved too weak to actually wield the axes and they were all killed and eaten by actual proletarians within days. Hip, hip! Hurrah!

Barricade Plan

Extremely Heavily Barricaded, according to the UBP-compliant Wykewood Barricade Plan.
