Here we employ two highly effective maps for tracking potential threats to survivors and the Free Militia. The first, developed by Swiers, is the Scent Death map which employs the zombie skill of Scent Death to track horde numbers. The second is the standard suburb danger map.
Swiers Scent Death Map
Legend:
- Image - the map image is a composite of scent death information from zombies all over Malton collected in a database at http://sim.urbandead.info
- Overlay - Gray dots mark the center of each block, gray lines mark suburb borders, white lines show certain building outlines.
- Colors - the colors on this map (and scent death maps in general) are derived from the numbers of zombies and dead bodies present in the block. A black or very dark color indicates very few of either. Other values are as follows:

Dangerous
Zombies inside many resource buildings and/or significant hostile mobs.

Mostly or entirely ruined, and devoid of significant survivor or zombie populations.

Most buildings wide open or zombie-infested and/or massive hostile zombie mobs.
