how do you post pics on the wiki

i am a new user and i am trying to get my group pic on the web from paint or do i have to use a differant program I NEED HELP --Nuts monk 18:03, 19 April 2006 (BST)

It doesn't matter what program you use. After you've made the picture you then have to upload it to the wiki by clicking the upload file button (it's on the left hand side in below the search bar). You then have to put the code: File:''insert name of image here''.jpg. If you have any problems then feel free to come back here and ask for more help.--The General W! Mod 18:49, 19 April 2006 (BST)
Also, the help pages have something on this: Help:Images_and_other_Media --Brizth W!M 18:55, 19 April 2006 (BST)
I am having trouble trying to upload an image. Despite trying both the file types asked for (JPG and PNG) it still results in an error saying: "." is not a recommended image file format. --[[User:Fernley|Fernley] 19:27 02 September 2010 (BST)

THANK YOU GUYS i owe you --Nuts monk 17:56, 20 April 2006 (BST)

Historical Events

Is there a complete list of UrbanDead's historical events somewhere? Things like the Mall Tour '06, and the Strike, etc. I have searched but haven't found a comprehensive list. Darkxarth 00:27, 11 July 2006 (BST)

Nope. It has been mentioned in passing, it's also been thought upon heavily, but for a comprehensive listing we'd need people who have long since left the game to contribute, many of who will work vigorously to discredit each other and de-rail any accurate listing of events due to their inherit bias. –Xoid STFU! 00:50, 12 July 2006 (BST)
I could help with anything from the 31st July 2005.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 08:54, 12 July 2006 (BST)
Like I said… </yahoo serious> — Go nuts. Just be sure to put it on the current projects page and see if you can get some others to contribute. –Xoid STFU! 19:08, 12 July 2006 (BST)

Urban Dead News

How Do You Use Pre-made Templates?

I've seen that alot of tmplates are frequently used. How do you use a template, such as the Sacred Ground template, on your user page? Do you have to construct the template from scratch? Humuhumuhumu...Ted 19:39, 21 October 2006 (BST)

nope, you use a template call, so {{SacredGroundPolicy}} gives you the SacredGroundPolicy on you page like {{WikiForum|user}} creates:
Forum.PNG Wiki Forum
This user posts on the wiki's forum. You should too!

.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 19:45, 21 October 2006 (BST)

Have a look through the Templates. Most of them have a copy and paste thing saying the wiki code for using the template. --MarieThe Grove 19:51, 21 October 2006 (BST)

Yeah, and for the ones that don't you just put {{}} around the name of the page.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 20:10, 21 October 2006 (BST)
Edited this comment to remove the automatic Category placement.--Vista +1 14:28, 27 May 2007 (BST)

Confirming a group

Created a group, got 10 members, now how to get it confirmed?

Ok, I'm in a group that has 10+ members however it is not confirmed. How do we go about becoming a confirmed goup?
Darkvengance 21:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

If your group is on the stats page then you can add the [[Category:Confirmed Groups]] to your group page. That will confirm you on the wiki.--Lachryma 21:12, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

But my group isn't on the stats page, that's what where we're wanting to get it. Darkvengance 21:14, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Ah, got you. You need to have all of your members list your group (exactly as it's spelled on the wiki) on their profile, where it says 'Group Name'--Lachryma 21:17, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Oh, ok thanks Darkvengance 21:25, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

How is the suburbs map updated?

Two questions in two days; I'm on a roll. I was surfing the wiki for a method by which to edit the map of Malton suburbs, but found none. Can this be done manually, or is the map automatically updated via data taken straight from the game? --Pyrranha 03:39, 11 April 2007 (BST)

Everything on the wiki is updated by players like you and I. You can edit the Suburb Map (or any other page here) just like you did to this page. But please know what you're doing before trying to take on community pages like the map, or you'll just make work for others to clean up, and possibly get yourself into trouble for vandalism -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 03:55, 11 April 2007 (BST)

How Do I Update the Dangermap?

How do I update the the danger colors on the dangermap of the Suburbs? Like change it from red to orange to yellow to green? --Secruss 19:06, 3 September 2007 (BST)

On the suburb's wiki page, there should be a big blue box on the right hand side, and at the bottom of it there'll be a link saying "Update Roywood's danger level" or something similar. Follow that link, then add {{MapSafe}} or {{MapModerate}} or whatever is appropriate according to this guide and save the page. That's the danger level updated, and it'll show up on the suburb page whenever that page gets edited. --Toejam A 20:06, 3 September 2007 (BST) NB Here's an alternative guide.

Offensive group name

Can I request a group to be deleted due to an offensive page and name?

I would like very much to see The Columbine Kids removed. How can I see to it that this will be removed? 'http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Columbine_Kids' is very offensive, and I personally find it disgusting. Comrade 47 23:12, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

You can request a page be deleted at UDWiki:Administration/Deletions, although I see no criterion that would make it eligible for deletion. --PdeqTalk* 08:19, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
Double Jeopardy, mate. Out of interest, did you actually read any of the main page (beyond baulking at the title)? -- Crystal C-Kids
Maybe you guys can add that to your talk page or an NPOV section of the main page, for easy access and incase a request comes up in the future. Oh, and I don't believe we actually have a double jeopardy type rule here for deletions.--Karekmaps?! 22:52, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Done, although it surprises me that you can repeatedly put a page up for deletion just because you don't like it. Surely once it's gone through the voting system that should be the end of it? -- Crystal C-Kids
I didn't read your page, as I'm not the one requesting it be deleted. Hopefully you meant to direct your question to Comradewhoever left the question (their signature seems to be missing) (sig fixed). I also do not see this "double jeopardy" criterion you are referring to. --PdeqTalk* 08:09, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
No, it was aimed at the guy requesting its deletion; i apologise for any confusion. And, since he's added his sig, i wish i hadn't bothered - he's a griefer and a complete waste of oxygen. I'm not even entirely sure he can read. Anyway, my apologies Pgeq. --Crystal C-Kids
Offensive page and name? Ever heard of SHOCK VALUE!? No to delete.--Forgotten86 06:02, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Such voting would take place on UDWiki:Administration/Deletions if this is put up for deletion. This FAQ is simply for answering questions. --PdeqTalk* 05:21, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Some questions

  • This is not a question regarding the game, but this wiki page - am I supposed to write new items at the top, or at the bottom? On some other wikis I have seen "add question" buttons - I would made one here if I knew how.. - take a look at this page for an example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Science
  • How can I know, if I will get hurt after using free running e.g. Im standing in an EHB building attacked by zombies and I need to run away. Sometimes when I do it "the way is blocked by a wall", my character falls of the roof and gets hurt for 5hp. Is there any way to know which way to go in order not to get hurt? (Im not talking about metagaming) or do I have to rely on luck?
  • Is there a way to go to a certain direction without free running into a building at that direction (1ap)? - what I want to do, is to simply move out of the building (leave it) and go in that direction the way I would do it without free running. This would cost me 1hp and would prevent from an injury. Do I need to leave the building and then just move in that direction - which costs 2ap?
  • How can I access the goth store at ackland mall? According to the article, http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/The_Goth_Store it is located in the SE corner. I stood there, with both shopping skills, and used the "search the goth store button". A communicate popped up telling me that I should just adjust my clothing options using the "setting button". Unfortunately when I tried to do it, there were no goth store clothing options to pick up from. I have allready asked this question at the Talk page - but noone has answered. Are the zombies interrupting the search? Do I need to repair the building - it is ruined now. Actually I was pretty close to reparing the building, but new zombies came in.. argh! : (
  • Does anyone know a group of real mercenaries? I mean mercenaries that would actually be interested in doing such missions as "regaining the artifact from ackland mall"? I have asked one group but they declined.
  • What are the active radio channels? Im kinda of an RPG/radio guy and Im have been carrying around 8 radios... -only the SPAM channel seems to be active. The mall info channel worked few times. As my character is operating mostly around Williamsville, I was trying to get some working Williamsville channels - but none worked.
  • What is the absolutely emptiest (and safest?) suburb?
  • Are there any other gems on this wiki as this userpage? http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User:A_Helpful_Little_Gnome JUST WOW!
  • Can zombies see me inside of a building when the doors are open? Can they see me when the building is ruined/dark?

Ted Blackheart 01:33, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

woah. that's a lot of questions. Lemme try get them all. Most talk pages have items added on the bottom, on talk pages there's a little plus sign you can click to do that automatically. Some people will have different rules on their private talk pages. News posts on location pages are added on the top. If you try and free run into a dark grey (ruined) building you will fall and may injure yourself. If it's light grey or yellow (powered) you won't fall. To go in a direction outside you must either leave the building or "free run" into an empty lot which saves 1 ap and has no chance of injury. No idea about the goth clothing sorry, i don't really do the whole clothing thing. No idea about artefact regaining mercenaries. Check out Radio for Radio channels are stuff. A lot of them are inactive, it depends. Try asking people in your in game area or checking what most radios are tuned to. Suburbs vary, if they get too safe zombies generally romp them. ALiM is a wikigem. Zombies can see you if they are inside the building. If the doors are opened they can't see inside but they can simply walk in and see you, yes they can see in ruin and darkness, same as survivors. Any more questions you can contact me here.--xoxo 04:31, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
