Description
A library filled with books and dust. There are the remains of some taco chips on the floor. This was once a place of wonder and learning...no more.
History
Gotobed library was established in the 1920's under the name Council Library, the library was unsuccessful in its early years in gaining patronage and eventually became a dusty backwater used only by underfunded community groups. However with the change of local government in the 1929 election the library looked likely to be demolished to make way for a monument to Sir Arthur Longman. Luckily for the facility one member of the community campaigned to save the sacred grove of books.
Exactly how the library became known as the Gotobed library no one knows for sure, however local rumour has it that the grouchy librarian who ran the library in the 1960's used to close the library right on 5pm so she could get home to cook dinner for her 29 children. Some say that she used to demand that the library's younger patrons 'go to bed' so she could close. Exactly why library users were going to bed at 5pm is unknown, although certain historians believe it may have had something to do with the Great Fire of 1912.
