Basic Info:

  • All junkyards were sealed and locked at the start of the quarantine, and required wirecutters to enter, unless someone else had already cut the fence. It is widely recognised that all junkyards in Malton have already been cut open.

Description

A junkyard located in the suburb of Pescodside. Searching yields next to nothing. Survivors can barricade this location (even though the once mighty chain-link fence is breached) and while searching does, on occaision, yield something from a variety of items it should be noted that not everything found is considered useful. As such, survivors should consider this a safe haven when barricaded, but hardly the best place to stock up on useful gear.

To some it might appear odd for there to be a junkyard within Pescodside’s affluent museum district. There is, however a reason why the junkyard was never reclaimed for development by any city concerns or the relatively recent corporate concerns within Pescodside. The Junkyard, also known as "Humphreys metals and scrap dealership", dates back to 1953 when a young entrepreneur, Henry Humphreys opened up his first scrap metal yard. Back then, when land was cheap in Pescodside Henry had no problem securing the appropriate licences, and his business went from strength to strength. Henry himself later diversified his business concerns into the production of children's toys, chemical storage, heavy freight transport and construction. By the 1970's Henry was a rich man indeed, yet he adamantly refused to sell his still functioning scrap dealership for any price. It is understood that this made him many enemies within the corporate elite of Malton who sought to buy out the land for projects more fitting the recent gentrification of Pescodside, but Henry Humphreys had made many friends during his rise to success, a lot of them working within various official institutions, especially institutions regarding land purchase and licence application. Needless to say Henry’s junkyard was never in any danger of closing, and remained, until the start of the outbreak one of the most efficient and well run junkyards in Malton.

Barricade Policy

This location should be Extremely Heavily barricaded at all times. This is in accordance with the mutually agreed-upon Pescodside Barricade Plan set forth by local survivor groups and the Dulston Alliance, who routinely work together to monitor that the barricades for this location are at the aforementioned level. This location is meant to serve as a safehouse for Malton's veteran survivors.

Survivors who find the location's barricades below their assigned level are asked to assist in raising them back up in order to help ensure the safety of all the survivors staying inside the location. Any survivor found lowering the barricades may be directly "put to the question" by any member of the Dulston Alliance or a vigilante-minded survivor who catches the culprit in the act. If this happens the accused survivor must present a valid reason for their actions or be labeled a zombie spy/death cultist and be judged accordingly. So always be cautious lest you find yourself summarily executed for crimes against humanity.
