The building is large with dozens of movie posters plastered about its exterrior and a new age retro design for the interrior. The years since the outbreak have not been kind, leaving it with seats overturned, posters ripped and faded with age, litter cluttered about the floors, and only a single working bathroom. Still, it has managed to keep its charm and most of its films are still intact which makes it a popular spot for survivors who enjoy a good movie every now and then.

Description

After the old building was destroyed in a fire back in 1981 the new Kirkland Cinema was built and funded by a wealthy private investor who spared no expense in turning it into a marvel of the modern day movie scene.

History

October 23, 2007: The Kirkland Cinema became the first destination of the VZW's Film Festival Tour of Malton. After evicting its undead occupants, repairing the damaged seating, cleaning up all the blood, turning the lights back on and heating up the old concession popcorn machine, the VZW presented the first ever showing of Deliverance II. This film was shot on location in Malton by first time director Amin Bhatia.

Tour movie reviewer, Luis Tully, provides this brief synopsis of Deliverance II: In this 2010 existential action epic, four suburban friends take an armored car trip through the center of Malton. But what begins as a lighthearted adventure becomes a voyage into the heart of darkness when zombified locals descend on the foursome and force them to kill or be killed. A masterpiece of grace and power, this movie still terrifies and enthralls today.
