About Us

The Knights of the Burnt Bridge were created on the 9th of July 2009.

The name was one of many submitted and voted on as the most appropriate overall (The other contenders were The Warband Order of the Marshal Les Chevaliers de Bayard Bridgeburning Jade Knights of Light, Band of Survivors and Warband of (insert something here I couldn't think of one), so I presume it is obvious why the name "Knights of the Burnt Bridge" was chosen instead).

Given that the name was submitted by one James Ternius, he became leader.

Other knights are welcome in our districts and homes, provided that they not be attempting to pass themselves off as one. A proper grasp of language and etiquette is to be expected of all our guests, regardless of whom they may be. As zombies rarely have a grasp of language, with their misspellings and strange accents, they are not welcome in our districts. Survivors who seek to further the cause of zombies in Malton rarely have a grasp of etiquette, shooting innocents without even provocation or a stated cause, and as such, any survivors who kill people indiscriminately are requested to stay outside the bounds of our districts. We currently base ourselves at the Barwood Building in Shore Hills, if any visiting souls would like to greet us, and defend the citizenry and our esteemed guests of Shore Hills against the hordes of creatures that lack any sense of dinner etiquette.

Unfortunately, during the winter months, many of the order's members have been carried off or otherwise incapacitated. Few of us remain, but we are always interested in possible recruits. Potential recruits should be willing to revivify fellow Knights, whether of our order or any other, shoot anything green, black, and rotting that moves, and subsequently patch up anything that wasn't supposed to be shot (or bitten). A willingness to slay rabid survivors is a necessity as well. No potential recruit should ever endanger a center of learning by committing assault in it, unless the target of the violence is a high value target who is a stated foe of the Order, or loot such a center of learning.

Goals

We serve as guardians, with honour and who take pride in the defense of others. We see it as our duty to uphold the wavering and faltering light of civilization, be it what it may, in these dark streets, to hold the torch of hope, high, and serve others as a candle in the shadows. Not only will we actively attempt to reclaim suburbs in periodic operations, aiding those struggling few already trying, but we will protect and offer assistance to those recently awakened to the hellish existence that is Malton. As members of the Order, we swore an oath, that we intend to follow; to protect those who have not yet the strength to do so themselves, with courtesy and gallantry, and to defend the centers of enlightenment in Malton. Our morals are strong, with an overriding sense of duty that impels us to take our stated goals with seriousness and to triumph over those who stand in our way.

Operations

Current Area of Operations

Shore Hills - Shore Hills is our home suburb. Expect to find at least three Knights in the suburb at all times.

History of Operations

Lukinswood

The Lukinswood Operation marked the Knights' first mission as an official group. On August 30, 2009, James Ternius heard a distress call over the radio, requesting help for the suburb. In only a few days, almost all of the Knights were in Lukinswood, ready to fight off the zombie hordes. Initially, the Shortman Building became the Knights' base of operations in Lukinswood, and priority was given to defending the Stagg Building, the suburb's only NecroTech facility. The first few days of the operation resulted in heavy causalities for the Knights, however they held strong, undeterred by the deaths of several members.

On September 4, the focus shifted from the Stagg Building to St. Elisabeth's Hospital and the surrounding area. The Knights worked hard to hold the hospital, and despite numerous break-ins, it never fell. Lukinswood group Malpractice and the Phoenix Security Forces proved invaluable during this time. The days dragged on with little change. The Knights and other survivors worked hard to defend the hospital and surrounding area while the dead smashed against the barricades. Eventually, death cultists aided the zombies by barricading ruined buildings, preventing them from being repaired. But even with such dirty tactics, the dead were unable to achieve victory. The piñatas were breached and repaired, and the barricades at the other buildings held strong. Slowly, the break-ins became less frequent. On September 13, the Knights of the Burnt Bridge withdrew from Lukinswood, believing the suburb to be sufficiently defended. Overall, the first operation was a success. (written by Toffey)
