Basic Info:

  • Excellent place to find first aid kits. Zombies frequently check inside.
  • Portable Generators have a use other than powering the lights and increasing search probability in hospitals. Players with the Surgery Skill can heal for 15 HP if the Hospital has a fueled up Generator.
  • Hospitals can be barricaded normally.
  • Among the internal descriptions found in Hospitals:
    • "...its wards and corridors blackened with the soot of a recent fire"
    • "...its empty wards criss-crossed with snapped quarantine tape."
    • "...one of the city's psychiatric hospitals."
    • "...dark corridors leading through abandoned wards."

Lorenzo General Hospital: don't drink the coffee.

Description

Lorenzo General Hospital [59,58], its empty wards criss-crossed with snapped quarantine tape, is one of the two Hospitals in Stanbury Village, and sits on the southeastern border with Roftwood. Being a neighbour to the ever-active tourist-magnet Kersley Mansion, Lorenzo sees a steady rotation of patients through its doors, both human and zombie alike. The other Village hospital, Catherine General Hospital, is in the far west of the suburb.

History

The Lorenzo Hospital was founded in murky circumstances. The funds necessary for this state-of-the-art, privately owned medical foundation came from a generous donation to the Malton Council by Stanbury Village gangster George 'Laughing Boy' Lorenzo (nicknamed because he had never been seen laughing in his life). Although never proved, many suspected that Lorenzo was using the medical trust as a money-laundering front; nonetheless, the Lorenzo quickly earned a reputation for excellence and ground-breaking research.

Upon Lorenzo's sudden and violent death in the Great April Fool's Day Massacre, the hospital trust was supervised by reclusive local multimillionaire Willum J. Kersley, under the ownership of an even more mysterious Italian known only as 'Mr Rossi'.

Increasingly abstruse experiments and projects were undertaken, allegedly including attempts to reanimate the recently deceased through the use of massive doses of gamma radiation, denecrotising enzymes, and strong black coffee. All such experiments came to an abrupt halt when the so-called zombie plague broke out.

Barricade Policy

Lorenzo once followed the Stanbury Village Barricade Plan, but due to the high zombie traffic, Lorenzo tends to be kept extremely heavily barricaded, and is no longer the entry point to the southeastern buildings in Stanbury Village. Instead, survivors often slip inside via nearby ruins: Kersley Mansion often fulfils this role.

Current Status
