Description

Mallard Towers are a twin pair of office towers located in the suburb of Rhodenbank. Built in 1995, these twin towers were well-known for their black glass exterior windows, similar in style to Lahey Towers located far to the west. Standing at over 508 feet tall, the towers are the tallest buildings in Rhodenbank with exception to the Anstruther Building's phone mast. Now owned by the Souless Survivors.

History

Few dispute that the Mallard Towers are an impressive sight in Rhodenbank, and perhaps it was this that drew the attention of the Russian Mafia to the buildings in the first place. In 1997, barely 2 years after their completion; signs began to appear. It soon became evident that all was not well within the Yo-Yo Dyne Corporation as trench-coated Mafioso men were often spotted meeting with corporate executives in the following months. What deals were struck or threats made were unclear, but the end result led to one of the suburb's most bloodiest crimes to date. Unknown to most residents the Yo-Yo Dyne Corporation was already the financial pawn of a Chinese triad, the 14K Triad (十四K), which had used the corporation as front for their money laundering enterprises in Malton. On the night of May 15 1997, a supposedly secret meeting was held in the east Mallard Tower by local senior members of Malton's 14K Triad. In the midst of this meeting the building was stormed by over three dozen masked men who proceeded to execute everyone they found inside. While the Triad retaliated during the gun battle, in the end the police found 36 dead Triad members scattered throughout the building, concentrated mostly around the board room where the meeting was originally held. The 14K Triad never recovered from this setback in Malton, allowing the Russian Mafia to step forward and claim control of the Yo-Yo Dyne Corporation. The building was being sold to a company called Souless Ordinance, during this process the "Malton Incident" suddenly led to the quarantine of the entire city. Thus it is unknown whether the company ever acquired the towers officially. These days survivors know little about the Mallard Towers checkered past, the only measurable item of interest is that survivors who now take this building as residence are known as the Souless Survivors. They have placed an interesting center piece in the lobby of the western tower, a large statue of a skull sits posed with the words "Hallow be thy name, I shall not falter till my last breathe" engraved into the side of the marble. Due to an underground parking lot connecting the two towers should zombies ever manage to breach the barricades of one tower they can easily march into either of the Mallard Towers unopposed. The Souless group recently changed the logo on the eastern tower to their current group symbol using a firetruck from the Gable Walk Fire Station.

Please keep this building at EHB.

Barricade Policy

In accordance with the Rhodenbank Civil Defense Corps barricade plan the location should be Extremely Heavily barricaded at all times. The true purpose of this building is to serve as a heavily fortified shelter for Malton's veteran survivors. Now under new management, Souless Survivors promise to keep the current Barricade Policy setup. The factory southeast of the Mallard Towers is the recommended entry point for the towers.

Come visit the Souless Survivors

Franco reporting in. I am in the Whippey Building in Shearbank. I am well stocked with syringes but I have no idea how long it will be before I can make it back to Rhodenbank. Zeds are closing in on the mall and it looks like we will be in for a siege. If I have a chance I will make my way east and try to recover the tower, but I don't know how soon I will be able to accomplish this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fransisco Franco (talkcontribs) at an unknown time.

December 4th, 2008

Franco reporting in. I believe I am the only surviving member of the group. The city is falling a part. No place is safe. I would recommend any living survivors head out of Rhodenbank to safer grounds. Any who have turned to zombie and have some reckoning of life need to head west and south for any hope of a revive. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fransisco Franco (talkcontribs) at an unknown time.
