Merryweather Cinema

Description

Merryweather Cinema is an old brick building with a bright, 70s era, neon marquee. The box office stand in between the two front doors, which have been barricade quite heavily. The marquee lists movies currently showing, including Blackula, Cannibal Holocaust, Evil Dead II and The Blob. The yellow and blue neon glow casts a series of eerie shadows all over the sidewalk.

History

Merryweather Cinema was originally opened in 1908 as The Harwyn Theatre. Specializing in vaudeville acts, The Harwyn was a very popular place to be in the until the early 30s. After the theater changed hands a number of times over several decades, it came into the possession of Stanley Merryweather. He renovated the theater and renamed it to the Merryweather Cinema, in the early 70s and began to run double bills with mixes of Horror, Science Fiction, Blaxploitation, Grindhouse, Schlock and Gore films.

Surprisingly, he outperformed all expectations and kept the theater open right up until the outbreak. It remained in disrepair for some time until the Big Damn Heroes took over as management. They've since decided to help entertain the hardened survivors of Malton by continuing in the fine tradition of Stanley Marryweather and showing the very worst that cinema has to offer.

Barricade Policy

In accordance with the Pashenton Barricade Plan, the Big Damn Heroes strive to keep the Cinema as Extremely Heavily barricaded (EHB) at all times. This is not just to provide a safe haven for survivors, but also to ensure that the Merryweather's patrons can enjoy their cinema in relative peace.

A generator is also hooked up, powering the projector and a transmitter, tuned to 28.81, so that patrons may leave feedback and request films from the Big Damn Heroes.

Current Status

September 9th, 2008

Generator replaced and refueled by Big Damn Heroes. Cades at EHB. Two potentially dangerous PKers inside from the group Legends of Darkness, possibly there to watch the upcoming Lucio Fulci zombie movie marathon. Travelers should be cautious. CharlieFandango 8:28, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
