Description

Malton Police Department

Schreiber Drive Police Department is a police department located in the suburb of Rolt Heights along the border with Pescodside to the east. Built in 1939, the police station is the suburb's second oldest precinct that was also known to have a long, dark, history. The homestead police Department hired paranormal investigators to look into hauntings at its station. The hauntings have been a rumour for years. Rumours of supernatural events, or hauntings, have always been associated with the police station, but more so in the years prior to the "Malton Incident". As if some harbinger of the horror that would soon visit Malton, the number of ghost-related sightings and phenomena had increased in since 2001. Police officers, annoyed with heckling from younger locals who knew nothing of the area's dark history insisted on a proper investigation in order to vindicate their reports. Slamming doors and creaky floors could easily be explained away on the fact that it was an old building, but police officers insisted some of the other incidents had no simple explanations. First of all there was the phantom typist. Several people reported having seen the keys on an old typewriter moving on their own, regardless of where the typewriter was located within the building. Then there was the old attic door which continued to spring open on its own no matter how many times it was bolted shut. Ally N. Rosewell, who worked at the building for years, showed investigators to a room where she and other staffers almost never entered alone late at night. This was because when anyone had ever done so it wasn't long before they would start to hear whispers, as if someone were speaking softly in their ear. Exactly what the ghostly whisperer was trying to say could never be understood, either due to how quiet the voice spoke or simply because the words themselves were in some foreign or indecipherable tongue, but everyone who heard the voice agreed that they intuitively sensed it was a message they never wanted to hear.

The department eventually called on the Greater Malton Paranormal Society, who began initial investigations into the reports and after a week confirmed that all of the strange phenomena could be traced back to the building's boiler room. The paranormal investigators then informed police staff that they would have to wait until the investigation was complete before any further information was provided on the exact nature of the supernatural forces at work within the building or how to deal with them. Unfortunately it was not long afterwards that the "Malton Incident" struck and no solution was ever implemented. As such survivors are commonly advised to avoid the boiler room.

Other historical facts about the precinct that may interest survivors include that police officers from the station were among those who were known to have participated in a major bust against Russian Mafia drug dealers located at Dunsdon Lane.

Mandate

1) To serve and protect all survivors within a 3x3 block grid (south) of the precinct.
2) To maintain resource building barricades at Very Strongly.
3) To maintain non-resource building barricades within a 3x3 block grid at Extremely Heavily. These buildings will act as safe houses for Free Runners attacking zombie groups in the area.

Affiliates

To date police and military personnel stationed at Schreiber Drive PD commonly work with survivors located in nearby resource buildings, namely:

  1. The Burchell Arms (89,17), HQ of the Burchell Arms Regulars
  2. St. Ninian's Hospital (90,15) in Pescodside
  3. St. Herman's Hospital (89,14)

Barricade Policy

This building should be Extremely Heavily barricaded at all times. This is in accordance with the barricade plan set forth by the Burchell Arms Regulars, who routinely monitor the barricade level for this building. This building is meant to serve as a safehouse for Malton's veteran survivors, and thus requires the Free Running skill to be properly utilized.

Survivors who find the building's barricades below their assigned level are asked to assist in raising them back up in order to help ensure the safety of all the survivors staying inside the building. Any survivor found lowering the barricades may be directly "put to the question" by any member of the B.A.R. present at that time. If this happens the accused survivor must present a valid reason for their actions or be labeled a zombie spy/death cultist and be judged accordingly.

Current Events

March 31st, 2010 - The Burchell Arms Regulars reported that the police department was now Extremely Heavily (EHB) barricaded, with a working generator. --Mobius 18:53, 31 March 2010 (BST)

March 30th, 2010 - The Burchell Arms Regulars reported that the building Heavily barricaded, with 2 aggressive zombies outside. --Mobius

April 27th, 2009 - Over 20 zombies attack Schreiber Drive Police Department. Surviving control the situation.

January 28th, 2009 - The Brotherhood of Nod has decided to locate its temporary headquaters here, and set up a permanent base of operations in the cellar.

December 30th, 2008 - Full of zombies and extremely barricaded, don't go there.

December 21st, 2008 - The Burchell Arms Regulars reported that the building was under siege and that 2 zombies had managed to break inside. Fortunately there are over a dozen survivors inside and the chances that they can overpower the rotters is above average.

December 14th, 2008 - The Burchell Arms Regulars reported that an operation to reclaim and restore Schreiber PD has successfully been completed. The building is now fixed, barricaded, and powered. Survivors inside the police station are manning the barricades and local zombies may find it a challenge to get back inside. At this time, however, there are no zombies outside.

December 10th, 2008 - The Burchell Arms Regulars reported the zombie inside the police station is now gone, having been whacked recently and dumped outside. The police station is still in bad shape though from all the days it had been ruined. No doubt it will take some hard work to get the station back in working order. One zombie was reported outside, but it was unclear whether it was hostile or not.

December 5th, 2008 - The Burchell Arms Regulars reported that the police station was still ruined, with a single zombie inside and another standing outside. Scattered groups of zombies to the north and east were also spotted, but they were small mobs numbering only 3-5 zombies at any given location.

November 24th, 2008 - While it's still unclear when it happened Schreiber Drive PD was overrun by zombies recently, but thankfully Nick Crandell, of the Burchell Arms Regulars Knight Watchmen was there to lend a hand. He killed the only two zombies that were standing inside, made repairs, and then Heavily barricaded the police station.

November 20th, 2008 - Another day passes and the Burchell Arms Regulars confirm that the station is holding. So far the worst appears to be at St. Ninian's Hospital where over a dozen zombies have broken inside. How this will impact the police station has yet to be confirmed.

November 19th, 2008 - The Burchell Arms Regulars reported that while the precinct's situation has improved of late, the building could use more defenders. Survivors looking for ammunition are encouraged to stay at Schreiber Drive PD, stock up, and then help evict any zombies still inside buildings.

November 18th, 2008 - MrGomez, of the Burchell Arms Regulars, helped recapture the precinct, killing every last zombie inside the building and doing what he could to re-fortify the barricades.

Update: Tommy1504, aka "Blazin' Guns Tommy", swooped in to assist his fellow BAR member MrGomez by Extremely Heavily (EH+2) barricading the building.

November 10th, 2008 - Schreiber PD was breached with four zombies inside, but now there are only three. Or that's the case when Nick Crandell of the Burchell Arms Regulars showed up and killed one of the invading zombies. At this time even more zombies have been reported gathering outside the precinct.

Update: The building's defenses were finally overwhelmed. At last report there were 31 zombies inside the building and little hope for any survivors.

October 8th, 2008 - The Burchell Arms Regulars assisted in reclaiming the police station, with the last zombie killed and dumped early this morning. The building is now Very Strongly barricaded and ready to supply local survivors with much-needed ammunition.

October 6th, 2008 - The Burchell Arms Regulars reported that the police station was now empty of zombies, but vacant of survivors too. With zombies still outside it is unclear whether the vacant building will be able to hold out. To provide what protection they could to the building, the B.A.R. has Extremely Heavily barricaded the building as a potential stop-gap measure until such time as when more survivors arrive at the location to help defend it.

Update: As suspected, the police station's barricades were breached and a lone zombie was recently reported to be inside the otherwise empty police station.

October 1st, 2008 - Zombies, flush from their victory over at the Clewett Building, have focused their wrath on St. Ninian's Hospital and the police station. The Burchell Arms Regulars reported that at this time the station is Heavily barricaded, but that one zombie had managed to breach the building's defenses beforehand and was still inside at the time.

September 29th, 2008 - Well there are frequent GKer strikes but the horde of 37 zeds are ignoring this area. In other things people who survived at the Treweeke siege a few weeks ago became insane and also became GKers/PKers.

September 19th, 2008 - Metal Fox recon reported that the police station was still in survivor hands. Some members of this team were spotted inside gathering ammunition, which had become more urgeant as news that the Clewett Building had fallen. This would mean bad news for St. Ninian's Hospital as the zombies from Clewett searched for a new target.

May 6th, 2008 - Safe, well populated and powered. --Pvt human 04:56, 6 May 2008 (BST)

August 30th, 2007 - In zombie hands. A horde of 49 zombies currently occupies the police department. Survivors have planned for a counter-attack soon. --Bruce Lee VIII 09:13, 30 August 2007 (BST)

July 16th, 2007 - Very safe. The barricades kept at EHB and survivors here are healed by the BAR. There are currently few zombies in the area.

August 13th, 2006 - Zombies are sieging Schrieber PD, or at least are trying to do so. The zombies managed to break-in once, but they were disposed of promptly with a few left lingering outside.

August 10th, 2006 - Small groups of zombies (7+) were sighted outside Ayliffe and Schreiber PD with small groups of survivors inside both stations. There have been a couple of break-ins at Ayliffe PD. Be advised against staying overnight in either police station.

January 30th, 2006 - The Drunken Dead, in a desperate fight to stave off sobriety, attacked Schreiber Drive PD. Several minutes later, with desperation driving them to feats of strength unrivaled, the horde stormed the police station to find all the survivors asleep. After consuming the humans, the horde found its salvation in an untapped keg and commenced drinking themselves back into a stupor.
