Description

Maltonhospitals.PNG

St. Bartholomew's Hospital is a hospital located in the suburb of Pescodside, close to the eastern outskirts of Malton. Built back in 1958, the hospital was intended to reduce the strain placed on St. Ninian's Hospital to the west, especially during a time when crime rates were high and arson-related fires were common. In recent times St. Bartholomew's Hospital, like many hospitals throughout Malton, suffered greatly during the initial outbreak as many of the infected brought to the hospital as patients died and became zombies within its halls before the medical staff realized the cause of epidemic spreading like wildfire through the suburb. It was not long after that the hospital was overrun. Since that dark day the hospital has seen its share of good and bad fortune. Survivors still cling to the hope that the hospital provides them, staving off the lingering death caused by infection or the injured people who, having survived a zombie attack, stumble into the lobby searching for help.

Mandate

The staff at St. Bartholomew's Hospital try to always support the following ideals:

  1. To provide medical assistance to anyone and everyone who enters.
  2. To cure the infected.
  3. To keep its doors open to lower level survivors, if possible.

It is asked that survivors please note whether or not there is a portable generator within the hospital, and whether it has fuel or not. As a working portable generator is required for the Surgery skill it is asked the survivors provide support by replacing either the generator when destroyed or refilling its fuel supply when its exhausted. This in turn will allow the medical staff to provide more efficient aid to the injured.

Barricade Policy

This building should be Very Strongly (VS+2) barricaded at all times. This is in accordance with the mutually agreed-upon Pescodside Barricade Plan set forth by local survivor groups and the Dulston Alliance, who routinely work together to monitor that the barricades for this building are at the aforementioned level. This building is meant to serve as a shelter for Malton's inexperienced survivors and entry point into other nearby fortified buildings. As a hospital it is also important that every effort be made to keep an "open door" policy (VS+2 barricades) so that inexperienced survivors can find the medical aid they need.

Survivors who find the building's barricades below their assigned level are asked to assist in raising them back up in order to help ensure the safety of all the survivors staying inside the building. Any survivor found lowering the barricades may be directly "put to the question" by any member of the Dulston Alliance or vigilante-minded survivor if caught in the act. If this happens the accused survivor is required to present a valid reason for their actions or be labeled a zombie spy/death cultist and be judged accordingly. So always be cautious lest you find yourself summarily executed for crimes against humanity.

Survivors are reminded that should any member of the Dulston Alliance who finds the barricades raised higher that Very Strongly without any apparent danger to the building or area they have the authority to lower the barricades back down to Very Strongly in order to restore access to the building from the outside.

It should be noted that if there is trouble in the past assistance has been rendered by the Friends of the Featherstone Library, who are based out of the Featherstone Library (94,16) just a few blocks to the west. Another nearby group is the Malton Fire Department, whose district headquarters are located at Ludwell Lane Fire Station. Survivors should therefore send runners to these locations to request assistance.

Current Events

March 10th, 2011 - VSB+2. 2 zombies outside, but should not be a major issue. -ral75 12:40, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

November 8th, 2008 - Hey people wake up! The hospital is LWO, only 4 survivors inside, don't let that solo-zombie take the whole hospital out! (FYI, I caded up to HB+0, healed 3 times (+15) and get killed 2 hours later...) --PyroPyro 05:01, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

September 19th, 2008 - It has been confirmed that St. Bartholomew's Hospital has fallen. I repeat, the hospital has fallen. It's unclear whether FOXHOUND forces inside the hospital managed to initiate their planned operation or not before the barricades came down and the zombies came in.

September 15th, 2008 - FOXHOUND reported that the hospital was under siege and signs pointed to the situation getting worse before it improved. As the Dulston Alliance forces in the area were gearing towards an offensive into southern Dulston it would appear that FOXHOUND was preparing to depart from the hospital. Of course the plan details are classified so no further information could be revealed.

September 10th, 2008 - FOXHOUND forces regrouped at the hospital as part of an operation to continue the offensive into Dulston, which was overrun with zombies.

May 30th, 2008 - St. Bartholomew's Hospital overrun by zombies. There are 11 zombies inside, another 13 zombies outside with 1-2 zombies in surrounding blocks.

May 25th, 2008 - St. Bartholomew's Hospital completely ransacked 1 zombie outside and 2 zombies inside. Building somehow still lightly barricaded. --[Tobi5792]

Update: Barricades up to heavily barricaded and all zombies inside have been killed. --Keyser666 17:10, 6 September 2007 (BST)

July 8th, 2007 - A counter-attack was launched and St. Bart's was taken back from its zombie attackers. The hospital has since been very heavily barricaded to prevent a repeat of recent events.

July 6th, 2007 - In a tragic turn of events St Bart's has been overrun and ransacked by at least 11 zombies. All the survivors previously inside the hospital have either fled or died fighting the attackers.

June 11th, 2007 - Hiroshi Ai and Zeffy of Cybele's Sisters have decided to join up and help the populace that comes to St. Bart's. It has also been suggested that they help support the Malton Hospitals Group.

June 1st, 2007 - Bastetmeow reported that a vandal going by the name of Hurt Bringer had destroyed St. Bartholemew's portable generator and radio transmitter! One can only wonder what he hoped to accomplish.

April 3rd, 2007 - Things have simmered down a bit in Pescodside. Zombie numbers have been steadily decreasing with most buildings being barricaded. Much of the recent activity has focused on St. Bartholomew's Hospital, where a medium zombie horde (15-20) laid seige and broke into the hospital, killing several survivors.

July 25th, 2006 - Dead Animals laid seige to St. Bartholomew's Hospital, ransacked, and occupied it for days... eating whoever decided to try and retake it.
