A Suburb is a named 10 block by 10 block subsection in the city of Malton. There are 100 suburbs in Malton, arranged in a 10 by 10 grid.

In the game, the suburb you are in is given at the top of the 3x3 map showing your immediate environment. There is no special procedure for moving from one suburb to another - simply keep walking and you will find yourself in a new suburb. If your map has fewer than nine squares, you are at one of the boundaries of Malton itself, not simply the boundary of a suburb.

Mall Tour 2009. Not a place to breath
--GoLookAndKill THCCFT 12:39, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
No ruined buildings, about half of resource buildings are lit. Highest zed count outside a building is about 2, except for St Wulfstan's Hospital which has 10 outside. Upgrading to...safe.--SomethingIsHappening 04:13, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Buildings are repaired and lit up all over the place. Survivor presence isn't huge, but certainly not a ghost town. Upgrading to safe. --Maverick 20:57, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Much of the suburb has been repaired in the aftermath of MOB, and buildings are starting to light up. Relax to dangerous or even moderate. --Maverick 21:30, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Mall Tour '09 hits Shearbank, destroying a hospital and a NecroTech building to the North. Zombies are preparing to attack Stickling Mall. Upgrade to moderate danger. -- Kittithaj 17:08, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
All two NecroTech buildings, all two hospitals, all two fire stations, and the mobile phone mast are barricaded and powered. The only important resource building under attack is a faraway factory, but survivors are able to hold it. The military reported about 30 zombies in the area. This suburb is safe. -- Kittithaj 14:02, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
25.96 MHz: "... Earletown is still active, twenty or so on the streets ... mostly just stragglers, no organised groups ... lights are on across the suburb ... infrastructure looks intact too ... power's back on at the Wortley Building ..."
Twenty unorganized zombies in a well lit and intact suburb. Sounds safe to me. -- Kittithaj 15:50, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
25.96 MHz: "... minimal activity in Rolt Heights ... power's on across most of the area ... infrastructure looks intact too ..."
Minimal zombie activity and working infrastructure means this suburb is safe by default. -- Kittithaj 15:50, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
As I'm standing in a TRP in Kempsterbank that's been non ruined for 4 days since September standing alongside 13 of my zetheren I'm returning this to moderate. Silly helicopters not looking inside buildings. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:21, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
All four police stations, all two hospitals, the only NecroTech building, the mobile phone mast, and the only mansion are barricaded and powered. Only one club is seen ruined. This suburb is definitely safe. -- Kittithaj 14:39, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
All five NecroTech buildings, all four police stations, and the suburb's only hospital are operational. There are still daily break-ins here and there, but no zombie group bigger than five. It's safe. -- Kittithaj 16:20, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Business as usual in the Hills. Skirmishes between both sides with zombies holding most resource buildings, but survivors making their presence known with repaired and barricaded buildings.--– Nubis NWO 01:44, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Almost all of the resources buildings are ruined or under zombie control. Updating status to Dangerous. --General Shrooms 08:45, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
All NecroTech buildings are up. Highest amount of zombies outside a single tactical resource point is 7, at The Carlyle Building. Updating status to moderate. --SomethingIsHappening 07:17, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
The horde has been driven out of the core of this suburb. The Hebditch Building and neighboaring Julie General Hospital have been reclaimed. Rebuilding of nearest unimportant buildings is carried out as of writing of this post. If zombies don't have some suprise up of whatever is left of their sleeves - surviors held the ground. --Peterus 09:00, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Combined efforts by the Dulston Alliance, Burchell Arms Regulars, and numerous local survivors have reclaimed nearly every building in the suburb. Zombie prescence in the suburb, while higher than average, is limited to small clusters of less than ten zombies. Two tactical resource points, the Whitlock and Beale Necrotech facilities, remain in undead hands at the time of this report. With the mall up, revive queues emptying quickly, and beer once again flowing freely in the suburb... the status can safely be downgraded to dangerous. -- Ottari DA PDA NW Read the Dispatch! 00:02, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks to the efforts of new life cultist group Hard Knock Life, plus local DEM and assorted local survivors the suburb has had nearly every building repaired and barricaded.
Updating status to moderate. --Speels 04:23, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
25.96 MHz: "... can see about forty on the streets of Vinetown ... a horde of a couple of dozen outside Mitchem Mall ... lights are on across the suburb ... infrastructure looks intact ... Mitchem Mall has power ..." (2 days ago)
Plus revive lines are all empty and survivor numbers are high. Its safe. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 11:22, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Latest Scentral Intelligence report shows no or very few zombies in the area. --Sigma 7 00:55, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Most of the buildings are ruined and have been for a very long time judging by the 40AP + repair costs , I haven't seen many large groups of zeds floating around, just scattered buggers sitting in buildings preventing a quick rebuild or hanging around outside doors. Some survivors have taken refuge in odd ruined buildings and seem to be doing little to remedy the local situation. Bonner - Speak!. 19:16, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
Dont be fooled by what you see at street level, you will see 20 zombies here and there preparing to attack an hospital and so, but if you try and go inside buildings, you will notice most entry points have just been overcaded, numerous buildings are inaccessible including for people with free running because they have been ruined from inside, other buildings wide open and lots of dead bodies everywhere. pkers sightings and organized zombies groups hiding in pinatas... this area isnt safe especialy for low level survivors that won't find easily any place to shelter. --UDMaltonAlert 18:38, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
There are some ruined buildings around the very edge of the burb that are about 19-20ap a repair, but overall, the burb is in good shape. --Fiffy 15:34, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Only TRP ruined is a factory, revive lines are short, Malls back up. Few zeds on the street. Moderate! --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:33, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Suburbs of Note

Houses the southern half and gatehouse of Fort Perryn, the site of a constant struggle for pride and authority. The Feral Undead's base of operations is here.
Home of the Ridleybank Resistance Front and suburbs of their claimed territory.
Home to Caiger Mall, site of four of the largest sieges in UD history. The Malton Iditarod started and finished here.
Home to the Yagoton Revivification Clinic, one of the largest revivification points in Malton. The Valentine's Day Massacre took place in Southern Yagoton.
Home to the Eastonwood Ferals and birthplace of the notorious PKer Pathetic Bill, the suburb is since March 06 a very dangerous place for survivors.
Home to the survivor group the PA Rebel Alliance, based out of Giddings Mall. In mid-September 2005, the PA Rebel Alliance is said to be responsible for the zombie group The Many's greatest defeat. Also failed to lose against The Shining Ones in a seige in May-June 2006. Also home to the Creedy Defense Force.
Suburb once occupied by a group called DARIS, who made it a policy to eliminate all non-DARIS members within the suburb. It was eventually forced out by a variety of factors, including downright apathy and a possible zerging attack.
Home to Whetcombe Park, site of the Strike. Home of the Pwotters zombie horde.
