20070712 Change items layout

Suggestion type
Improvement

Suggestion scope
Items layout

Suggestion description
I think of an easy way to clean up the items listing that you are carrying into 2 categories-usable and equippible. Not only could this make finding items easier by knowing which category it's in instead of having to look through your whole stock, but it would greatly help newbies figure out how to use their stuff the right way, and would prevent duplicate wasted item boxes. I also think it would be easier to combine certain items by just having one listing and the number of them in ()s. For example, have stuff listed this way:

Use items: FAK (4), Bottle of Beer (10), Bottle of Wine (10), Newspaper (5), Flare Gun (2), Fuel Can, Portable Generator Equipped items: Pistol (5), Pistol (2), Pistol (1), Baseball Bat (3), Fire Axe (2), Crowbar, Knife, Length of Pipe (2), Binoculars

Equipped items would be listed without buttons to click (plain text), as the way to use any that get used here already have their own boxes, such as weapons for attacks, binocs inside high buildings, etc.) The only equipment that would be listed seperately would be guns since the numbers following them show how many shots they have left.

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - In case you didn't know, there is no way to equip an item. Items are either automatically equipped, or carried, and the game makes no distinction between the two. --Saluton 18:46, 12 July 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - There isn't much wrong with the idea, but I thought about it...and I wouldn't really want it in the game. --Wooty 20:39, 12 July 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill Needs some work.--Seventythree 20:41, 12 July 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Dupe-ish - While half of your suggestion seems original (though Saluton makes a good point), the stacking of items has been covered by PR_UI:_Main_Screen#Item Stacking in the Peer Reviewed area. --Ryiis 20:42, 12 July 2007 (BST)
  2. Dupe - what Ryiis wrote --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 22:07, 12 July 2007 (BST)
  3. Dupe - This concept is not new at all. Look at UDTool for instance. Many people have suggested something similar. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 00:40, 13 July 2007 (BST)
  4. Dupe - 4 is greater than 3. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 04:14, 13 July 2007 (BST)
  5. Dupe - Dupe of item stacking. If you'd like to see what it stacked items would look like, there's a greasemonkey script that'll do it. It's pretty neat. --  T   16:16, 13 July 2007 (BST)
  6. Dupe - Redundant. 'arm. 02:20, 14 July 2007 (BST)
  7. Dupe - This should've been closed ages ago. But I'll gladly vote upon it.-- Vista  +1  01:23, 15 July 2007 (BST)
