20070730 Zombie Vision

Niche 17:46, 30 July 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Game Improvement

Suggestion scope
All zombies

Suggestion description
Quite simply put, in order to encourage the game to be played more "in character" or true to what the game is actually supposed to be about... how about zombies not be able to read? Taking this further of course I mean that instead of the display stating "The Nich Building" with its usual description and spraypaint... a zombie would only see "A tall building with many windows and an odd logo." Police Departments might appear as "A squat blue building. It looks bright on the inside!"

I think revive points and organization are great for survivors, but for half of the game players zombie time is downtime where they run to the nearest spot they know they can get a needle and wait and do nothing.

This change would not affect any game mechanics, as it would be a purely cosmetic display change. No exp adjustments, no dmg calculations would change, no healing, no searching, no extra mechanisms to calculate when barring a door... just whats shown to zombies. Clever survivors would still be able to negotiate the non-descript buildings alright, but it'd help immerse players in what it might be like to actually "be" a zombie.

Keep Votes

  1. Change - only if with Memories of Life everything would be back to normal --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 18:58, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  2. Change - Agreed with Duke, MoL should nullify this, but before you get it it sounds like an interesting idea. Italus 20:04, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - I think it's a great idea. Adds realism to the game. -- Kvsofaking15:54, 31 July 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - This would just encourage using metagaming tools, which is very much counter-immersive. --Midianian 18:32, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - Maybe if you let Memories of life put everything back to normal. --Saluton 18:37, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill Sitting at your computer and eating a fig newton, you see a retarded suggestion. --Secruss 20:26, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill Sorry, but zombies get it in the neck enougth early on through pathetic damage and accuracy and a movement penalty. THis would just screw them over some more.--Seventythree 20:45, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - Yeah, this would be rough on newbies... so much so that you probably wouldn't see many newcomers start as a zombie. --Ryiis 22:00, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  6. No. And since when was Spam a strong kill and flaming was allowed? *rolls eyes* Glenstone 22:10, 30 July 2007 (BST)
I vote Spam if I don't consider the suggestion worthy of being considered for the entire 2 weeks. Enough spam vote and the suggestion is removed. Hence Spam = your "Strong Kill". 'arm. 00:57, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - It's a game, not a simulator. creating annoyance for zombies just for the hell of it is not a good thing.-- Vista  +1  22:21, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill - "Make zombies blind" suggestions are not cool. Not even when it's only mostly blind. --Mold 23:20, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  9. KILL - No. --Druuuuu 03:49, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill - It makes perfect sense. It could also ruin the game. --The Hierophant 04:08, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill - If this were some kind of roleplaying game between a bunch of friends having some fun I would have say yes...but this is an game, a game that is meant to be balanced and fun to play. So I say "FUCK NO!!! DONT RUIN THE GAME FFS!" --Sachaztan 09:21, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  12. Kill - Hurts newbies. --ZombieSlay3rSig.pngT 17:21, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  13. Kill - Hurts me! --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 07:09, 2 August 2007 (BST)

  15. Kill - What the hell? This suggestion gets Lords Evans label of hate --Your friendly neighbourhood psychopathc, Lord Evans 19:35, 10 August 2007 (BST)
  16. Kill - This is not an immersion game, its a browser based zombie apocalypse. That and imagine someone brand new to the game signing up going "OH SWEET I WANT TO BE A ZOMBIE... wait what?" --Dipcup 01:25, 11 August 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Why do you hate zombies? The game sucks for zombie n00bz hard enough! BTW, please don't try for realism in a game about zombies where you can't die. BoboTalkClown 03:53, 9 August 2007 (BST)
  2. WRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY - Wait...so first we need to metagame to communicate and now you want to make us metagame to find out where the fuck we are? No. --Sonny Corleone RRF CoL DORIS CRF pr0n 18:44, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  3. spamtastic! what Sonny said. --Ropponmatsu 19:01, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  4. Spam Amazingly, I agree with sonny. Don't turn Malton into the NW forgotten city. This is like shoving metagaming into your face and screaming "Eat it!".--Wooty 20:28, 30 July 2007 (BST)
Eat it! Eat it! Don't you make me repeat it. Have a banana, have a whole bunch. It doesn't matter what you had for lunch. Just eat it, eat it, eat it, eat it. --Sonny Corleone RRF CoL DORIS CRF pr0n 20:41, 30 July 2007 (BST) inane non-author re struck.-- Vista  +1  22:28, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  5. Spam - Wow, I can't believe Wooty is agreeing with Sonny, I guess it's a sign of the apocalypse...-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 21:55, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  6. Spiced Ham - Excuse me while I go off and laugh until I pass out. --User:Axe27/Sig 23:52, 30 July 2007 (BST)
  7. Spam - If MoL allowed zombies to read their location all of a sudden no-one would want to be a zombie without it. And it would unfairly disadvantage newbie zeds. Which shows how ridiculous this type of suggestion is. As Sonny points out, this would mean a LARGER reliance on meta-gaming apparatus in order to play the game as a zombie. 'arm. 00:57, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  8. Stop - sniffing Glue.--Karekmaps?! 01:28, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  9. Funny. Someone should trick this out and pimp it in Humorous Suggestions. Kalir FTW! Z/S UD Potato Words 01:46, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  10. Spam - Arrrgh! Fundamentally unbalancing! The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talkcontribs) at 02:17 31 July 2007 (BST)
  11. Spam - As said above.Encourages meta gaming. Chill 04:00, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  12. Spam -Allowing zombies to "read" by acquiring Memories of Life might have mitigated things a tiny bit, but not enough to make this not spam. Your forgetting that zombies are players too and they aleady have it harder in communicating. We WANT people to play as zombies and while realism should be a part of every suggestion it really shouldn't be the only part.--Pesatyel 05:14, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  13. Spam - It sounds anti-zombie to me. Its been said before, but zombie communtication is hard enougth already without making them unable to see where they are.its not a very good idea to force us to metagame even more. And, there would be no more newbie zombies, thus slowing the zombie population growth. so, again, it sounds anti-zombie. --Disc10 08:56, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  14. Spam - The others have said almost everything i would have said already, so instead of repeating it, i shall simply say these four words: "Fuck off and die." --Grim s-Mod U! 18:53, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  15. Spam, spam, spam, spam, spam! This is a spamtastic survivor buff! You want us to lose zombie players again? It's happen before...and it's mostly due to crappy anti-zeds suggestions being implamented. Something to make the game lose players instead of gain will be 4 letters. S. P. A. M. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 16:31, 3 August 2007 (BST)
  16. Spam - Don't worry, be happy. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 03:46, 4 August 2007 (BST)
  17. Spam - OH NOES MY EIEZ DON'T WORKZ PROPLY ANYMOERZ!!!!!!!!!! what makes you think that a zombie can't read? Zoutroi 19:47, 4 August 2007 (BST)
  18. spam - I was tempted to vote Keep just because it's fun to watch Sonny foam at the mouth like a rabid lunatic, but this suggestion is just too tough on people who play the game. Realistic, maybe - but no fun. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 13:08, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  19. Spam - And not because it's a zombie nerf, whatever... It's so minor that it's really not a nerf or a boost to either side, the building types are pretty obvious, or could be. It's actually a cool idea, in theory. But what it is is a non-metagamer nerf / wiki-user boost. Though all I have to do is click on the wiki and pull up a map, thereby making the suggestion completely redundant... --WanYao 23:14, 8 August 2007 (BST)
  20. Spam - Terrible. It won't make the zombie experience more immersive. It'll just make them metagame (even more). --Pavluk 22:48, 9 August 2007 (BST)
