20071003 Diagnosis/Scent Blood Improvement

Jon Pyre 16:16, 3 October 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Improvement

Suggestion scope
Diagnosis + Scent Blood

Suggestion description
It can take a long time to scan a crowded room to find injured people to heal/attack. Seeing as UD is supposed to be a quick daily fix of zombie action, rather than an alternate life like World of Warcraft improvements that save people time are positive changes.

Therefore I suggest coloring the HP of any injured survivor red so it stands out in a quick visual scan. Players should also be able to set HP values to be alternate colors in their profile options page in case they prefer a color other than red.

Why spend a minute scanning over a room of 100 people when it could take five seconds?

Keep Votes

  1. Author I took voter suggestions to just make this an improvement to Diagnosis/Scent Blood. This should be really simple to implement and a real time saver. --Jon Pyre 16:17, 3 October 2007 (BST)
  2. Week Keep/Change Make it an option to turn off in the menus, and have colors depending on how wounded you are. And yes, I've used the FF Add-On, but I don't have FF anymore, so. Glenstone 16:48, 3 October 2007 (BST)
    • Re The default could be the current color, then you could switch it to red, green, pink, purple, whatever you want. And yeah, FF is awesome, but FF doesn't exist everywhere. Work computers, library computers, people that for some reason choose other browsers, playing from mobile devices with internet connectivity, people that don't want to install add-ons for a single site they visit, etc. --Jon Pyre 17:38, 3 October 2007 (BST)
  3. keep - but only if it shows survivors on less than 30HP... I want a quick way to spot the most wounded, diagnosing every little scratch in a room of 100+ should take time and effort! --Honestmistake 16:50, 3 October 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - also helps PKers looking for that special somebody...--Bob Fortune RR 16:55, 3 October 2007 (BST)
    • Re Hey, it doesn't make them more powerful, just saves rl time. Why not? I'm sure PKers also have bills to pay, laundry to pick up, groceries, all that "life" stuff. --Jon Pyre 17:38, 3 October 2007 (BST)
Re: Re: Yep, it does. Which is why I voted Keep; me being a PKer :) Check the little RR in my signature. --Bob Fortune RR 18:50, 3 October 2007 (BST)

  18. Keep - Saves time and does nothing else. Works for me. And what the heck kind of kill vote is that? --Reaper with no name TJ! 20:49, 4 October 2007 (BST)
  19. Keep - Either this or the last triage suggestion should be implemented. --Sonofagun18 04:06, 5 October 2007 (BST)
  20. Keep - As above. --Private Mark 22:18, 5 October 2007 (BST)
  21. Keep- I only have a few hours a night for all the computery things I need to do. This would help me, and others, save some time. As below, it is stated that this helps PKers...and well, yes, but most skills can be used by PKers. Are those other skills just special? Honestly....logic, people. Not that hard. KittyTony 03:12, 6 October 2007 (BST)
  22. Keep - As a zambah and a PKer, I approve of this. --Druuuuu 05:01, 7 October 2007 (BST)
  23. Keep/Change - Identifying wounded is good, though I would suggest using an asterisk to denote infected survivors as well, because trying to spot the colour of the brackets is annoying with the FF add-on. --Pestilent Bob 16:08, 14 October 2007 (BST)
  24. Keep - Saves time and effort for me. --Dryalski 20:20 18 October 2007

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - I wanted the first kill vote this time.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 22:23, 3 October 2007 (BST)
  2. weak kill Boosts teh PK. Sockem 03:47, 5 October 2007 (BST)
And boosts teh Medics.  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  20:44, 5 October 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - Because life isn't convenient nor should it be. Healing is a reliable way to get quick experience at levels 1 and 2, it's fast, it's easy, there's no interaction with zombies, and it can be done anywhere. It does not need to be made simpler.--Karekmaps?! 06:44, 8 October 2007 (BST)
Re It is not being made simpler. It is being made faster. I think there is a divide between Difficult-Game Challenge and Difficult-Efficiency. One maintains game balance, for instance search % of FAKs, amount healed, etc. The other is just a purposeless waste of time. --Jon Pyre 15:46, 8 October 2007 (BST)
Inefficiency is a way of making it less desirable, you make it more efficient you make it easier.--Karekmaps?! 03:12, 9 October 2007 (BST)
  4. The problem is the suggestion says ANY injured. You walk into a building with 100 injured people, they ALL show up as red, including all those people that are only missing a hit point or two. How is that any different from what we have now? Because some might not? Now, maybe if people that were considered "wounded" (24 HP or less) showed up as, say orange, and people that were "dying" (12 HP or less) showed up as red, this might be more useful seeing as how THOSE are the people you would actively helping and not all those people missing a hit point or two.--Pesatyel 18:26, 8 October 2007 (BST)
    • Re I agree that would be more useful, and being able to tag different health levels different colors would be a good addition to this suggestion should it be implemented. Still, I'd rather look through the 15 injured people in a crowd of 100 than the full hundred. --Jon Pyre 16:55, 19 October 2007 (BST)
  5. kill - PKer friendly. (I know it helps medics as well, but I don't like anything that assists PKers.) --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 11:28, 13 October 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill – Extensions do it better, and a Greasemonkey script could do it easily. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 13:37, 18 October 2007 (BST)
