20071020 Barricade Text Change v2.0

Vkkhamul 01:47, 20 October 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Text change (no change to game mechanics)

Suggestion scope
Anyone attacking barricades

Suggestion description
This will change the flavor text when attacking the barricades:

  • Failed attack- "You smash at the barricade. It creaks, but holds strong." OR "You smash at the barricade. It creaks, but takes no damage."
  • Successful attack- "You smash at the barricade. Part of it collapses."

This will remove newbies' confusion that smashing/creaking barricades does not necessarily mean a successful hit. (Darn, I still remember back in my old newbie days when I thought the barricades were just too easy..)

  4. Keep - because you adressed issues i had with previous version --~~~~ [talk] 10:30, 20 October 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - As before, the idea is sound (clarify when damage is done, and when it isn't) - and he who shalt not be named isn't stupid, so he can implement that idea sensibly. All steakfish is saying is "and remove all flavour", which makes him Captain Bland of the good ship Doldrums. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 11:44, 20 October 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep - Ok -- John RubinT! ZG FER 12:05, 20 October 2007 (BST)

  19. Keep - Because people actually voted kill. Crazylilvietguy 01:25, 23 October 2007 (BST)
  20. Keep - This voter creaks, but does not vote kill. --Uncle Bill 06:24, 23 October 2007 (BST)
  21. Keep And once more, I vote YES on this suggestion... ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 03:52, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
  22. Keep I'm gonna say keep because as a newbie I myself got quite excited everytime i saw a creek. This at least says "damage" or "no damage" --Mr NoName001 03:58, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
  23. Keep- I like it, I too, at one time, thought that creaks meant it was damaged or did something other than just adding the modifier word "creaks", this wouldn't be spam as it simply states that there was no change to the barricades. I am still not sure what "creaks" means but I assume that it indicates I was close to destroying a part of it.-- BKM 19:56, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
  24. Keep - Good call. --Clay5x 04:12, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
  25. Keep - Because I want it kept. --Pdeq 07:43, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - This doesn't clarify anything, just makes it more confusing.--Karekmaps?! 01:59, 20 October 2007 (BST)
  2. No choices. I'm voting on a complete suggestion, not which choice I like better.--Pesatyel 03:11, 20 October 2007 (BST)
What I meant by "OR" is that either one will appear. It is determined randomly. --Vkkhamul 03:21, 20 October 2007 (BST)
    I don't like the second possiblility in question.--Pesatyel 10:06, 23 October 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill/Change - It was better the first time. Here's what I want to see (feel free to use this if you make a 3rd attempt): A single message for all succesfull attacks (the message that the game uses now is fine). A single message for all unsuccesfull attacks (I don't really care if they creak or not, as long as it's clear the barricades weren't damaged and it's the same every time). A single message for attacks that will never succeed (You attempt to bite the barricade and discover that your teeth are incapable of damaging it.)--Steakfish 03:32, 20 October 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - As Steakfish. --Perne 04:43, 20 October 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - As above. --Sonofagun18 09:33, 20 October 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - Same objection as last time, I'm afraid. Some things people should be able to figure out for themselves. --Pavluk A! E! 00:35, 23 October 2007 (BST)
Confusion and frustration will cause newbies to give up and stop playing the game. Not everyone is willing to check the wiki for help, you know. --VkkhamulT! U D Rocks! 01:53, 23 October 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - I don't want it to creak all the time, either. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 20:53, 27 October 2007 (BST)
