20071127 Dodge

Suggestion type
Skill

Suggestion scope
Humans (not Zombies)

Suggestion description
Thanks swiers for the idea.

In all zombie movies, your worst enemy is always your fellow human. At least the zombies don't stab you in the back. This skill "Dodge" is a Military skill, represent the military's training in avoiding bullets and living at all costs.

A human with this skill and 75% or less encumbrance will be 10% less likely to be hit by a gun, as they can quickly run for cover, due to not having too much stuff. Here's swiers' reasoning for it.

"This would mean PKers can't generally use it as a defense (they load up on guns), nor could zombie hunters (also loaded with guns). However, most "support characters" can run quite effectively with only a 75% load, only going over that when they are very well stocked. It also seems logical that if you were having little luck scrounging for gear, you might be paranoid, while people who are living high on the hog in mall, loaded down with gear, might let their gaurd slip. (And no, I would NOT have this affect melee combat, because HtH attacks are by far the minority for PKers, and also the only thing zombies can typically use. By the time somebody is at HtH range, you can drop your extra baggage to fight.)"

This idea adds more tactics, allowing for people to decide if it is worth it to store up more stuff or to have less stuff in order to stay alive longer.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - It's more like "Ohshit, someone's pointing a gun at me!" *dive for cover* *gunshot* --Sgt. John TaggartUNIT 11/5 WCDZ TJ! 19:02, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  2. Keep - Clearly this skill implies that you see someone aim a gun at you (because those with this skill are alert like that), and then dodge before the bullet is fired. Believable, not too large of an effect, adds more tactic to the game, and doesn't mess with the humans vs. zombies dynamic. I like it. --Pdeq 22:01, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  3. Keep - I like this. Helps when attacked by PKers and is also balanced and cool! everyone wins! Except for the PKers that is. --Waterspark2 7:00 p.m., 27 November 2007 (EST)
  4. Keep - Same reasons as Pdeq, can possibly cut down on Death Cultists. Starman537 00:11, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  5. Keep- As Pdeq. --Darth LumisT! A! E! SR 01:33, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  6. Keep See these? We call them legs. If someone starts shooting at you, use them, and run for cover. ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 05:12, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  7. Keep - Good, but the name of the skill could be changed into something like "Take Cover" so it doesn't imply matrix-like bullet dodging. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 08:04, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill as is - While I agree with the "bullet dodging is for the Matrix" comments below, I like the basic idea. PKing needs a little nerfing of some kind to make it more challenging, but this probably isn't it.--Actingupagain 19:52, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  2. It isn't dodging (as I read it) its being agile enough to not let someone get a bead on you when aiming. Maybe the author should change the name. Beyond that I dunno. I kinda like it (even though I hate suggestions that "promote" PKing as this kinda does, IMO), but maybe lower the encumberance as far as 50%.--Pesatyel 02:56, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
  3. Kill - Sillier than a cucumber wearing thirty six cowboy hats on its doodle.--Cap'n Silly T/W/P/CAussieflag.JPG 07:46, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - Makes no sense. Bullets travel faster than sound. You cannot dodge something headed for you at over 300 meters per second. This goes way beyond believability here. Also, dont nerf mah PKin. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 18:14, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  2. Spam - because it could easily be used by PKers - load up to 75% on all guns (what need a PKer fuel, gennies and other comradely items?) and go on a killing spree where your targets are easy to hit and you're not. Oh - the PKer gameplay necessitates an even playing field. It's tricky to try to mess with it. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 18:30, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  3. Spam - Nerfs PKing and Urban Dead isn't "Urban Matrix". --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 18:38, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  4. Spam - You can't dodge bullets. Unless someone actualy just picks up a bullet and throws it at you, then, I guess you could. --SeventythreeTalk 18:51, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  5. Spam - The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it. --Ryiis 19:04, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  6. Spam - by the time you hear a bullet, it's already gone past you. --Pavluk A! E! 19:24, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
  7. Spam it, Janet I love yooooooooooooooou - Dawn of the Dead is not The Matrix. --The Hierophant 21:58, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
