20071226 Fireworks

Jon Pyre 17:17, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion type
Item

Suggestion scope
New Years

Suggestion description
There's still time to have fireworks for New Year's 2008 (or barring that there's always next year). Fireworks would be found in junkyards, schools, stadiums, police stations (they've been confiscated), and fort armories (for patriotic displays).

As items all fireworks look the same. However upon being launched they become a random explosion visible like a flare. For example:

"A rocket exploded into a shower of golden sparks 2w 3n"

"A rocket exploded into streams of green fire 5e 1s."

"A rocket exploded into purple and white sparkles 4n"

etc.

Fireworks cannot be used as weapons as they are far more unreliable than flares, and too dangerous to fire in close quarters. Like flares they can only be shot outside.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - I like it, nice fireworks display might distract the zombies while the survivors rush into the only safehouse in the world, i mean suburb. Also would they be able to be blocked like flares and are they only available once every year at a certain day like the masks, and what's the encumberence? Thank you. Acoustic Pie 17:43, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
    • Re Fireworks would only be found on New Year's Eve (unless Kevan decides to honor other holidays also like July 4th, Guy Fawkes Day and Chinese New Years). Their encumbrance would be the same as flares and they can only be used outdoors. --Jon Pyre 17:49, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Keep - Excellent. Considering they will only be found on only one day, and are largely more expendable than Christmas trees, why not increase the search percentage, as well as extending the searching period to a week before the targeted holiday? Also, I presume people can continue to keep these fireworks after the holidays? ~AriedartinTalkA KS J abt all 19:05, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
    • Re A higher percentage would work, although not too high to be annoying obviously. And yes, fireworks can be kept for after the holidays. --Jon Pyre 19:49, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  3. Keep - *cheers* Here's to the New Year 2008! --Private Mark 19:17, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  4. Shiny --Jon Pyre 19:59, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  5. Keep/change - Make them available in malls. They sell guns so I reckon they'd sell fireworks too.Studoku 22:03, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  6. Keep/change - As Studoku. BoboTalkClown 22:56, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  7. Keep Sounds like a fun addition --Downinflames 00:08, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  8. Keep- Because flares aren't colorful, and colored flares would be a dupe of a dupe. --Darth LumisT! A! E! SR 00:24, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  9. Keep - I can see this being a lot of fun. Maybe someone with construction can spend a few AP's and several fireworks setting up a display peice An impressive pyrotechnic display with many different colored fireworks lights up the sky to the east for a good few minuites something like that. I actualy rather like this.--SeventythreeTalk 00:34, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  10. Keep - Amusing flavor that can't hurt anything: Yes! --TriPolarClicky! 01:06, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  11. Keep - sure, why not. --BlobdudeTalk TM MC 01:46, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

  16. Keep - I'd like to shoot a bottle rocket at a person like a flare gun... --Akule School's in session. 15:53, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  17. Keep/Change- Make it do about 20 damage to a random person, 3 damage to a random amount of people, have a 10% chance of inflicting 20 damge on you too, and have a 12% accuracy, with 100% collateral damage.--Shotstol 16:26, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
  18. Keep - I really love this idea and I don't agree that it's spam or a dupe. ChrisForelle 19:31, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Just shoot flares. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 19:23, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Kill - No parties during the apocalypse. --Pgunn 08:36, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  3. Kill - Yeah, let's make flares even more useless. I mean, they really already do the same thing, and there's little to no additional flavor value (everyone already treats flares like fireworks). At best, it means more stuff to find and discard. At worst, it means inventory clogging for no reason. --Reaper with no name TJ! 18:09, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - Yet more meaningless spam. Jon Pyre. Take a holiday. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 00:18, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  2. Spam - I'm sure it's been suggested before. No Fireworks, it just sucks as an idea.--Karekmaps?! 01:31, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  3. Spam/Dupe - Not sure that either of these count as Dupes, but this and this (which was voted down as a dupe) are functionally similar enough for me to post here. But the Spam either way. --Druuuuu OcTRR 01:40, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
    • Re Those are both very different in that they're designed to create a signaling system. This is just a temporary item that creates a random burst of colors. --Jon Pyre 15:45, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  4. Spam - As Grim. --The Hierophant 09:43, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  5. Hurrrrr - As Grim --Ryiis 15:03, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  6. It's a near dupe of my New Years suggestion. It, however, was shot down cause people kept telling me to just use flares! --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 21:06, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
  7. Spam - use flares (ie this is already in-game). --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 22:59, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

  8. Mas Spam Por Favor - I say we form a lynch mob and get rid of Jon once and for all =D --/~Rakuen~\ 22:05, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Spam - --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 14:12, 2 January 2008 (UTC) Unjustified vote struck --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 14:44, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
  9. Past the due date - It's January 3rd now. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 14:44, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
  10. Spam - First, if you're going to make holiday suggestions, do so well before the holiday. There's no reason I should be able to even vote after the holiday has passed. These things need time to go through voting, join the backlog of requests, and go through implementation. Besides, Flare Guns are close enough, and nobody would go through the effort for such a minor change.--Kolechovski 14:57, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
  11. Spam - Too much flavor and you lose the taste of brains. If you want holiday stuff, at least make the damn deadline, man. --Vandurn 15:00, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
