20080826 Censor Whitelist

Kolechovski 01:40, 26 August 2008 (BST)

Suggestion type
Censor fix

Suggestion scope
The bad word censor

Suggestion description
There are numerous locations in Malton containing parts of "bad words" according to the game. The Cocker Museum is one example. When broadcast, it becomes the "...static..."er Museum. Other locations containing "bad words" suffer the same effect. So, the bad word filter should have acceptable uses, such as those locations in the game, whitelisted, so that the names are not being censored.

This was originally the "remove 'cock' from banned words list idea".

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - It makes sense to me. With those building names censored radios are even more useless.--SirArgo Talk 03:22, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  2. Keep - the cockatoo on my magic wristwatch (which I bought in Scunthorpe) tells me that this suggestion makes sense, and that badly written expletive filters mock sense. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 06:02, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  3. Keep - Fixes my main gripe with censors. Linkthewindow 07:02, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  4. Keep - It's small but logical. In theory, every building name should be quotable in the game, no matter how useless. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 10:23, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  5. Keep - Expletive filters are fairly redundant anyway. If I really am dying to talk about my c0ck (and how all yu n00bz shud suk it!!!11) over Urban Dead radio, I can. Not that I ever have. --Anotherpongo 10:56, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  6. (The reason this user has given had been censored because it was very inappropriate.) --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 14:07, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  7. Keep I'm inappropriate. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 14:50, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  8. ""Keep"" Makes sense, I have never personally used a radio but I can see this censor as being annoying.--Igpeno 19:46, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  9. Keep - The filter is redundant anyway, since it doesn't keep Real Gamer and his ilk from talking about how he "LIEKS TO F'UCK HIS DAD's CO.CK!!!!1" and other things of that nature, and the only people it hurts are the newbs who want to ask for help at the Cocker Museum. --JaredTalk W! P! 20:12, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  10. Keep - Stands to reason you'd have a white list to accompany a particularly bothersome censor. --ZiPbeep boopMH+LUE 22:52, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  11. Keep - Because I want to share my love of Scunthorpe United without interference. --Bob Fortune RR 23:56, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  12. Keep - Eh, why not.--Truezombieboy 03:34, 27 August 2008 (BST)
  13. Keep - Great Idea. Me likey. -- Cheese 17:23, 27 August 2008 (BST)
  14. Keep - This doesn't effect me at all, but it makes sense, so I'll support it Necrodeus T M! 21:11, 27 August 2008 (BST)
  15. Keep - Exceptions list that includes locations names sounds pretty reasonable. I would've considered this more of a bug/oversight personally.--Karekmaps?! 01:57, 28 August 2008 (BST)
  16. keep might be a good idea to do, especially with the building names. Padfu-Zomfu 12:14, 28 August 2008 (BST)
  17. Keep - Author keep, almost forgot.--Kolechovski 20:24, 28 August 2008 (BST)
  18. Cock - Er, I mean keep. --Aeon17x 12:16, 29 August 2008 (BST)
  19. Keep - Do away with the filter.--Jake4d1 22:57, 29 August 2008 (BST)
  20. Keep - Remove the filter entirely, but this is good too. --BoboTalkClown 02:35, 30 August 2008 (BST)
  21. Keep - As long as there's no chance for abuse LemonHead7t7 *̡͌l̡*̡̡ ̴̡ı̴̴̡ ̡̡|͡|̲̲̲͡͡͡ ̲▫̲͡ ̲̲̲͡͡π̲̲͡͡ ̲̲͡▫̲̲͡͡ ̲|]]| ̡̡̡ ̡ ̡ ̴̡ı̴̴̡ ̡*̡͌l̡* Talk/PDA/Red Rum/MOB 22:07, 1 September 2008 (BST)
  22. Keep - Unless you decide to do away with radios, which would also get a keep vote from me. - Headshot Hal Talk +1 Casting Call 20:16, 2 September 2008 (BST)
  23. Keep - It's a good idea. --Zhani 17:56, 6 September 2008 (BST)
  24. Keep - I thought I'd voted for this already. I like it.--William Told 18:41, 7 September 2008 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - just remove the censor entirely. --Pgunn 16:20, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  2. Kill - Just remove radios too--Airborne88Zzz1.JPGT|Z.Quiz|PSS 16:26, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  3. Kill - Insert ALiM plug here <---justification. --xoxo 12:05, 29 August 2008 (BST)
  4. Kill - It's annoying, yeah. But there is no easy way to stop radio spam or (unless I'm wrong) ensure that the ignore function works via the radio. Text rape / in-game sexual harassment is a real problem, and there are kids who play this game... So, I'm willing to deal with some silliness when it comes to censoring the radio, if it addresses these issues. --WanYao 16:49, 7 September 2008 (BST)
Kill - What´s so bad about censoring building names. Thanks to the beautifully pubertal >...static...< our great creator Kevan has implanted those buildings with a "bad" name are even easier to memorise. And by the way, who really gives a ...static... ...static... about this anyway? --the wallaby 14:18, 9 September 2008 (BST) Late vote struck. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 15:46, 9 September 2008 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - No reason giving Kevan more work, especially something as stupid and petty as this--/~Rakuen~\Talk Domo.gif I Still Love Grim 03:40, 26 August 2008 (BST)
  2. Spam I am in the co.cker museum right now! --• LtZurSee slapped your nose with a newspaper for a heal from CORAM (0 seconds ago)AU 12:13, 26 August 2008 (BST)
