Type: Balance Change
Scope: Low-level zombies
Description: Any zombie heals after biting a critically injured (<12HP) survivor. Digestion is only needed to heal from a bite on a non-critically injured survivor.

Discussion (Yummy!)

So how is this a 'balance change'? --Aeon17x 10:47, 28 June 2008 (BST)

Uh, I just went for one that seemed appropriate. It's not a skill, it's not an item, so I thought it'd be a balance change. --Blake Firedancer T E RNL? P.I.S.I.T. 10:42, 28 June 2008 (BST)
I dunno, I was under the impression that something needed... balancing.
Most newbie zeds would exist in two states: full health, or dead. By the time they get body building and a flak so that they'll actually live another day to have non-total HP reduction and use the HP rebates from biting, they're probably not a newbie zed anymore and might even have the digestion skill. It's rather moot for most of us. --Aeon17x 10:47, 28 June 2008 (BST)
most zombies do exist in a state of full HP or zero HP... it kinda makes digestion a lot less important than i would like but this just seems like it would make it even less worthwhile--Honestmistake 19:23, 28 June 2008 (BST)

The description is confusing. I believe you are saying that if you bite a survivor with less than 12 hp, your zombie replenishes all of it's hp. That's odd, I reloaded the edit page when I got the edit conflict warning but your comment still didn't show up. I should've double-checked for sure, sorry about that. --Aeon17x 11:06, 28 June 2008 (BST)
I understand, I think, but I had to work at it. Basically, Digestion effect is always there if the target is <12 HP, whether you have the skill or not. Going with that... This is pointless, on many levels. First of all, the newbie zambahz it's meant to help have HORRIBLE bite attack #s... Most bahbahz buy Neck Lurch fairly late, and with good reason: bite attacks are weak, even with this skill. Thus the effect to overcome those icky 15 ap headshots, which this seems to try to help with, is minimal.
Actually, neck lurch is the FIRST skill a babah zambah should buy, at least if they are a feral. 30% to hit for 4 damage is quite a good way to get the XP you need to buy Ankle Grab. Even if you just end up biting zombies, that's still enough to get yah 20-40 XP a day. Yes, you CAN get 40 XP a day biting zombies; the kill bonus of 10 XP makes it rather easy, in fact. It helps to contact list everybody you can, so you can single out specific zombies as targets, meaning you can pick the one you know / think has the least HPs. And of course, those survivors you find stranded outside are XP GOLD.
Anyhow, this suggestion would go very well with the above tactic, as its not at all uncommon for zombies I play by such tactics to end up loose some (6-20) HP each day, but not get killed. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 19:26, 29 June 2008 (BST)

Wait I get it. ANY zombie will gain hp equal to bite damage done IF the target has 12hp or less. --Emot-siren.gif LABIA on the INTERNET Emot-siren.gif Dunell Hills Corpseman The Malton Globetrotters#24 - You rated this wiki '1'! Exactly! --Blake Firedancer T E RNL? P.I.S.I.T. 10:47, 30 June 2008 (BST)
Don't be too excited, the server might implode once two 12-HP zombies do this to each other. --Aeon17x 10:51, 30 June 2008 (BST)
Who said anything about it working zombie-to-zombie? --Blake Firedancer T E RNL? P.I.S.I.T. 12:47, 30 June 2008 (BST)
That's the funny part, it doesn't. But think of all the dying zeds who might still try it on each other. :D --Aeon17x 13:05, 30 June 2008 (BST)

Flavour Text?

Please put flavour text ideas for this suggestion here. Remember that flavour text should describe why zombies now benefit from this suggestion, as opposed to before.

The constant cycle of death and revive has caused subtle changes in the bodies of those in malton. No longer human, they are simply surivors. The necrotech chemicals flowing around their bodies stave off death, but as mortal injury is caused the chemicals can no longer cope. The delicate process of keeping the living fully alive falters, tissue begins breaking down as the body prepares for a return to undeath. In this weakened state they are more dead than alive, closer to zombie than human. This helps feasting zombies to better assimilate their food into their own sytems strengthening their cells as their victims slowly die.

Wow. Sounds nasty. --Nitro378 T JNL 14:48, 5 July 2008 (BST)
Yeah, but it also doesn;t explain why a survivor who has never died before is still yummy. I prefer the zombie adaptation route. Zombies seem to have developed a taste for the fear-flavored flesh of dying survivors, consuming their victims while still alive whenever possible. Any zombie who successfully bites such a survivor now gains 4 HP (regardless of having the "digestion" skill or not) as the adrenaline in their victim's blood energizes the zombie's regenerative powers. Also good! Ah adrenaline! --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:07, 5 July 2008 (BST)

Possible Variant

Rather than grant digestion to all zombies who bite weakened survivors I think it might be better to have all zombies gain 1 extra HP from any successful bite attack. That would be a meaningful boost to zombie kind which would mostly benefit the low levels. High level zombies already bite so as to infect, as such tend not to linger in a wounded state meaning the extra 1HP healed is probably not an issue to them. However for the low level zombie bit is often their base attack and all those +1HP's could offer them a serious benefit in AP saved through not dying every day... As for reasoning, how about? "As Malton's zombies adapt to their undead state they are becoming much more efficient at digesting their prey..." --Honestmistake 16:41, 5 July 2008 (BST)
