Flare Pistol (My Version)

Timestamp: MrAushvitz 00:58, 20 August 2006 (BST)
Type: "New" ranged weapon
Scope: Holds "flare gun" rounds
Description: They've been around for at least 40 years, mainly used on boats, helicopters & planes. Primarily for signalling, visibility in disasters, bad weather, traffic accients, etc. Most "emergency" buildings and airports have them, just in case.

Flare Pistol

  • Damage Same as flare gun round
  • Base accuracy Same as flare gun: 2.5% / 15% with basic firearms training
  • Capacity 4 Flare Gun Rounds
  • Weight 1 Inventory Space
  • Locations Mall Sporting Goods Store (4%/5%), Railway Station (4%), Power Station (3%), Fire Station (2%), Hospital (1%), Police Department (1%), Armory (1%), Factory (1%), Stadium (1%), Warehouse (0.5%), Mansion (0.5%)
  • It is always found empty, so ammunition must also be located.
  • Reloading this pistol is the same as the shotgun: 1 AP per "round" inserted into the weapon. To reload this weapon click on any Flare Gun to insert it as 1 round into the pistol and that flare gun is removed from your inventory.
  • When reloading this weapon the computer will always reload the "most full" flare pistol 1st until it has 4 rounds, then the next pistol, then the next.

Intended Game Effect

This pistol's one and only use is that it allows you to carry more "flares" in your inventory, if you enjoy using the flare gun. Each flare pistol you own can hold 4 rounds, so 5 fully loaded flare pistols would be 20 rounds at your disposal, 10 would be 40, and so on. The mall sporting goods store currently only has 1 item that can be found for use in the game (baseball bat.) Now it would have a second item on display for the discriminating zombie hunter. If it tickles your fancy, for RP purpouses you can say you're using a flamethrower, molotov cocktail or some godawful homemade demolitions of some sort. Perhaps there may be a number of firemen who enjoy using just their emergency equipment for deal with the zombie emergency: The fire axe, and the flare pistol..

Votes

  1. Author Keep - Simple enough, AP battery flare pistol to save you inventory space from the formerly "single shot" weapon. Makes better use of: Railway Station, Power Station and Sporting Goods Store. --MrAushvitz 00:58, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  2. Keep - Better. What is the ammo though? And does the box stil have 5 ammo? --Gold Blade 01:02, 20 August 2006 (BST)
    • Re - The ammo is the single shot flare gun rounds, actually they are pretty plentiful to locate, especially in fire stations. --MrAushvitz 01:03, 20 August 2006 (BST)
      • Re - Definitely my keep then. It gets rid of those 100 flare guns and sticks them into one. --Gold Blade 01:05, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  3. Spam - Useless, too complicated.--GageASS 01:43, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  4. Keep - I see no reason why not. Simple enough, and has some nice utility. --Rgon 02:02, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  5. Keep - simple modification, makes perfect sense, and eases off some of that inventory cramping. --Kiltric 03:07, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  6. Kill - Just terrible, theres no need and it would actually take up two spots, not one like you are suggesting because of technical reasons. - Jedaz 03:16, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  7. SPAM - Useless as hell.--Thari T/C/TJ! 03:18, 20 August 2006 (BST)
    • Re - Hell isn't useless, god created hell specifically for "asshole storage", kind of like we use jail in on earth. --MrAushvitz 13:38, 20 August 2006 (BST)
      • ReRe - God, was in fact, Amazing. So the hell was a lie too. A true hell must be populated with his fugly drawings.--Thari T/C/TJ! 17:10, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  8. Keep - Heavens, yes. It's very rare that the Lord God would support a new weapon. -- (The Lord God) Pray 03:27, 20 August 2006 (BST)
    • Re - Cleanse them with your holy fire, oh Lord. --MrAushvitz 13:38, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  9. Spam -How is this an improvement? The Flare Gun is already useless and just makes spam clutter. With THIS suggestion, the spam clutter would be 4 times worse! If the intent was to make flares more useful, this, this, this, and this are already in Peer Review. Make the CURRENT flare gun useful. Don't just add another useless (indeed worse than useless) item. And since when could we UNLOAD a weapon?--Pesatyel 07:09, 20 August 2006 (BST)
    • Re - All of those links relate to the flare's use in signalling. Technically by taking up less inventory space you could carry more flares for signalling, as well as combat. --MrAushvitz 13:38, 20 August 2006 (BST)
      • That's the point. The Flare Gun is a signaling device and not a weapon. This version IS better than the normal one, but you aren't REPLACING the normal, your ADDING more crap. If the normal one is only used for spam (really, how many people bother with flare signals and combat?) and this idea just makes it worse. If carry 10 flare guns, thats 10 spams people have to go through/ignore. This suggestion has the potential for 40 spams people have to go through/ignore. At least the originals were limited in inventory which helped limit the spam. Basically speaking you have to make Flare Guns useful first (ie. the other suggestions I linked, or something else), then REPLACE the standard gun with this one (the whole reloading thing is stupid and since when could one UNLOAD a gun? And if I can do it with a Flare Gun, why not a pistol or shotgun?). And, as for it being a "new weapon" (haven't figured THAT one out), you would do better to just up the hit% and change the name to "grenade launcher" or something.--Pesatyel 16:53, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  10. Keep - If I didn't have to waste additional inventory slots for each flare gun, I might actually start using them. --Xoid 14:50, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  11. Keep - See Xoid. I like flares, and it's fun to unload 20 odd flares into a stack of zombies, or just shoot them up into the air as nice fireworks display. But I can't afford to save them up most of the time due to needing the space for precious Ammo and Faks. I'd like to see a 6 shooter flare gun, though --Gene Splicer 15:58, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  12. Keep - This sounds like a good idea. But since the top hit rate of fire is 15% you're not going to do much damage. Maybe there should be a skill that would increase the percentage, because without that, people will be wasting a whole lot of shot's. Still, this idea is still good. --Officer Johnieo 16:43, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  13. Keep - I like it very much.--Canuhearmenow 17:17, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  14. Keep - I would vote for anything that let's me burn the dead! Tito 18:40, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  15. Keep - I would actually like this to replace the current flare gun, but otherwise I like it. --Paradox244 W! TJ! 19:52, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  16. Kill - But I do like the idea somewhat. I would rather that they were found fully loaded and were not reloadable. They also need to totally replace the existing flare gun, or not be found in the same spaces. --Burgan 20:01, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  17. Keep - I use flares all the time in combat. Youronlyfriend 09:03, 21 August 2006 (BST)
  18. Spam "Police Department (1%), Armory (1%)" that's right, make it harder to find useless weapons by finding a flare gun in places you don't find flares. That's real ****ing smart. Usually I'd vote Kill, but this is such a bad idea I decided to up it to Spam because: there's no way to "fix" an idea as retarded as carrying arround more useless weapons, it's a Mr A suggestion - and he needs to learn not to make retarded ideas, it's not needed, it's a waste of AP loading and finding ammo for this ****er, I've never had 4 flare guns at once - would you? Flare guns are not 15 damage weapons. They are signaling devices that can be used as long shot "I'm gonna die anyway" weapons. You don't need to carry arround more than two of them at a time. David Malfisto 12:49, 21 August 2006 (BST)
    • Re - As I'd pointed out, an emergency item. Reasonable to find it in a police station (just not often) and the armory (helicopters, signal flares, milltary stuff.) Sure is getting a lot of keeps for a retarded suggestion. Let people play the game as they want it to be played. --MrAushvitz 01:03, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  19. Kill - What Pesatyel said. DirskoSM 14:39, 21 August 2006 (BST)
  20. Kill - Revise it to replace the current Flare Gun, make it take up two slots (because it will anyway) and this would be Keep. --Funt Solo 13:57, 31 August 2006 (BST)

Survivalist

Timestamp: Canuhearmenow 17:20, 20 August 2006 (BST)
Type: New Skill.
Scope: Flare Gun Usefulness.
Description: This would be a 100XP Civilian skill (Because this is a privately learned skill) Called "Survivalist" This means you took basic survival training, increasing the accuracy of the Flare Gun by 10%, making it then up to 25% Hit Probability. This skill would obviously be useful for those who want the Flare Gun's power while making it hit a little better.

Votes

  1. Keep - Author Vote, this could work.--Canuhearmenow 17:20, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  2. Spam - easily makes the flare gun the best weapon in the game in terms of average damage--GageASS 17:22, 20 August 2006 (BST)
    • Re - Lower to 5% increase?--Canuhearmenow 17:24, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  3. Keep - Works for me! "Flame On!" ~ Johnny Rad, the Human Torch. (besides, being a non millitary skill many science characters may use it, "revive.. burn, revive.. burn, revive.. burn!") A 10% increase in accuracy does not make the flare gun even on par with the shotgun. --MrAushvitz 17:40, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  4. Spam - As Gage. I don't like the idea of flare guns being used as everyday reliable weapons. --Mookiemookie 19:07, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  5. Spam - Totally breaks the balance. Flare guns do not need a buff. --Burgan 19:51, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  6. Spam -The Flare Gun is NOT DESIGNED to be a weapon, hence the low hit%. I'm not even sure WHY Kevan chose to make it combat capable. You would do much better to just suggest replacing the flare gun with a "grenade launcher" or something.--Pesatyel 20:24, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  7. Kill - I would lower it to a 5% boost. 25% is too high and would make the weapon waaayyy to powerful. --Officer Johnieo 20:39, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  8. Kill - as above, lower the bonus to 5%. --Kiltric 21:38, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  9. Spam - Overpowered.--Thari T/C/TJ! 22:05, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  10. Kill - not Spam-worthy, but then again, crap. - HerrStefantheGreat 22:37, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  11. Kill - What is going on with all the Flare Gun related suggestions recently? Just doesn't seem like it should be nearly as effective as a weapon as the actual guns. --Rgon 23:52, 20 August 2006 (BST)
  12. Spam - Have you ever shot a flare gun? It's not a straight path, nor is it reliable in any way. If you shot 1000 flares in a day you might start to get the hang a little of how to shoot them but it's still not reliable enough, personally I think %15 is too high for them. CaptainM 02:28, 21 August 2006 (BST)
  13. Spam - It's effective enough as it is. --Nob666 10:01, 21 August 2006 (BST)
  14. Spam - As above. --Max Grivas JG,T,P! 10:23, 21 August 2006 (BST)
  15. Kill - I'd love to see a 5% increase in Flare Gun accuracy - BUT it should be paired with an ability that makes the flare gun better at it's intended purpose. And Gage, factor in search rates and provide numbers before you make statements like that. David Malfisto 12:56, 21 August 2006 (BST)
  16. Kill - Whether or not flare guns should have more use is debatable, but I don't see how being a survivalist relates to using one of them. I'd need a better premise before I could consider it. --otherlleft W! 15:09, 21 August 2006 (BST)
  17. Kill - I agree with David Malfisto. DirskoSM 19:37, 21 August 2006 (BST)
  18. Kill - Overpowered.--Funt Solo 14:25, 31 August 2006 (BST)

  1. Spam - I'm sick of dumb suggestions. Can we get something useful into PR for once?--GageASS 01:58, 21 August 2006 (BST)
    • Re Very funny Gage, seeing as the only two suggestions that are going to get into PR in the next week are... mine. And the last dozen suggestions to get into PR? A quarter of them are mine, more than any other single user. Where's your last suggestion to get into PR, heck where's your last suggestion period? Oh wait I forgot, you don't contribute suggestions... Maybe you should! Rheingold 11:00, 21 August 2006 (BST)

AFA I'm concerned that can go for Niilo, Mookie, and the rest. This page is drowning in retarded Mr. A suggestions. If you want to salvage the situation then YOU write up some damn suggestions instead of going down the page autospamming everything. You aren't deterring Mr. A in the least and you're driving away the GOOD suggesters (seen Pyre contribute anything in the last couple weeks? That's right). Rheingold 11:00, 21 August 2006 (BST)

You are correct in one aspect, autospamming doesn't deter me.. --MrAushvitz 13:41, 21 August 2006 (BST)
Seen Peer Reviewed Suggestions lately? It's filled with great not-yet-implented suggestions. Why don't you just take a break? I really don't think that we need more suggestion to fill it. --Niilomaan GRR! 11:28, 21 August 2006 (BST)
