New Item: City Map

Timestamp: 02:17, 7 August 2006 (BST)
Type: New Item
Scope: Survivors
Description: City Maps are a new item.
  • Locations: Found in Schools.
  • Search Odds: Fifty percent of the former "book" search results (i.e. if formerly you would have found 10 books in 100 searches, now you find 5 books and 5 maps).
  • Function: Clicking on a City Map in your inventory opens a new window taking you to the suburb map corresponding to your current location. If you clicked on your Map while in Gulsonside you would get a new window: Gulsonside's map.
  • Utility: Helpful for those who don't metagame, esp. newbies. Helpful even for those who do, since you can now instantly access a map.
  • Zombies? Yes, zombies can read a Map in their inventory IF they have Memories of Life.

  1. Author Keep- Rheingold 02:17, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  2. Keep - Once again you make an awesome suggestion.--Canuhearmenow 02:23, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  3. Keep - it is a tentative keep though. there is already a map, and several extensions that fulfill the same function, but I suppose this would help the noobs. --Kiltric 02:35, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  4. Keep - Sure. Why not? Next thing you know we'll have compasses. Sonny Corleone WTF RRF ASS 02:41, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  5. Keep - The original intention may have been to keep people in the dark, but I see no reason to not give this item. Gives purpose to libraries. I would think that this should be an actual UD map, not visitmalton. I would encourage Kevan to use his own different format from what is in place on the various hosted maps, my ideas being arrange it with GPS co-ords running along the top and left instead of in the squares, and removing NT building and cell mast info. --Burgan 03:00, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  6. Keep - Good idea. Personally, I'd lower the search odds (higher odds of getting books than maps), but that's just me. --Rgon 03:46, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  7. Keep - Flavoursome, and newb friendly. Like Rgon said: lower the odds of finding a map a bit. Also: I think Burgan is on the right track -- Kevan should make his own version without the extras. (Like that is gonna happen...) If Kevan does choose an existing map, can he go with the currently "most full featured" map? Red Rum's map. (Has all the features of the CDF's and Letum Corporation's, but also has "toggle free running lanes", and scrolling through suburbs.) --Xoid 03:51, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  8. Kill - Take away the memories of life requirement. Maps aren't exactly a secret, and there's no reason that newbie zombies should be screwed out of the convenience of not having to go to the wiki or what have you to see a map. --Mookiemookie 04:13, 7 August 2006 (BST)
    • Re - and how is a newbie zombie going to find a Map, I wonder? ;) Rheingold 08:59, 7 August 2006 (BST)
      • Start out as a survivor, get killed straightaway after finding one...you know me, just being cranky and hard to please --Mookiemookie 14:13, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  9. Keep Flavorsome and useful, if unnecessary. --Jon Pyre 04:53, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  10. Keep - Everyone said enough. I just agree. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC | T | W! 05:17, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  11. Keep -I like it, but I would include Railway Stations (get off the train, don't know your way around...) as find locations. And Sonny, don't we already HAVE compasses (so to speak)?--Pesatyel 05:44, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  12. Keep - Adding a feature to an external resource is probably a poor idea. This is a great suggestion. --Max Grivas JG,T,P! 06:04, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  13. Keep - Yesyes!.--Thari T/C/TJ! 07:36, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  14. Keep - Hey Mookiemookie, there's no reason that newbie zombies should be screwed out of the convenience of being able to open up buildings, but they are. Anyway it's not like it's that big of a deal (about the map) IMO. - Jedaz 08:44, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  15. Keep Just what has the GPS thing been plotting our positions on? --Ron Burgundy 10:43, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  16. Keep - OMFG nerfs books! (No one uses those anyway.) --Niilomaan GRR! 11:53, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  17. Keep - I like it. Gives some purpose to libraries. --Nob666 12:03, 7 August 2006 (BST) Edit: Just a random idea: maybe maps could be given out as "rewards" to zombies for ransacking libraries? You knock down a few shelves, books fly around and you see one of them and think to yourself "Hey, that map on the cover looks familiar..." and you automatically pick one up. Once having a map you wouldn't pick up another one. --Nob666 10:20, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  18. Keep - It's a decent suggestion. Anything else has already been said. --Tethran 12:11, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  19. Keep - Would like to see the locations you can find them in expanded a bit, though --Gene Splicer 13:40, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  20. Keep -Cool, Done, Sold. More in game intergration with people's inventions/creations Can realy Boost the Atmosphere. Nazreg 14:59, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  21. Keep - Very useful. --Paradox244 W! TJ! 15:20, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  22. Kill - How would a newbie know to find a map? Its easier to find through the FAQ. --Marie 16:32, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  23. Keep - It's a dupe but I'd like to have one. Put it in more locations. -- (GOD) † 16:55, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  24. Keep - It would also be cool if you could find them in other places, like factories for shipments, or something. --Poopman9 18:29, 7 August 2006 (BST)

  27. Keep - As above. David Malfisto 12:47, 10 August 2006 (BST)
  28. Keep - It'd make quite a good bit of sense, it's also a good idea too- I don't want to load 50 different tabs for maps, and the extensions don't ALWAYS work. ---Captain Leah- 14:33, 10 August 2006 (BST)

Game Functionality: Contact Lists Sort

Timestamp: 07:40, 7 August 2006 (BST)
Type: Improvement, etc.
Scope: All Players.
Description: Instead of having the contacts list displayed as one bulky list; allow for 3 catagaories. When choosing to add a contact to your list of contacts, you are given the option of placing that contact in one of these three catagories; My Group, Friends & Enemies. This makes viewing a large contact list much easier. An additional functionality would be to have the names displayed in game differently. Either by three colors, or Bold Italics and underlined. So when in a grid you would see for example:

There are 16 other zombies present. You recognize "friend" (name in blue or underlined,) "Enemy" (name in red or bolded, "Group" (name in green or italics, etc.)

  1. Keep - This is a great idea. --AvatarElita 07:50, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  2. Keep - This is awesome, but I think it's been suggested before... --Ron Burgundy 10:46, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  3. Kill - I love this suggestion, because it would make using my huge list of contacts MUCH easier. That's why I voted kill. "With a great contact list comes a great mess." --Niilomaan GRR! 11:56, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  4. Dupe - Makes sense, although this might have been suggested before. --Nob666 12:05, 7 August 2006 (BST) Generally the same idea. --Nob666 12:09, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  5. Dupe - See Nob666's vote. --Xoid 12:11, 7 August 2006 (BST)

  7. Keep - Read before you dupe! This also changes the colours of the contact names in the game screen, an aspect not included in the Dupe links --Gene Splicer 13:42, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  8. Dupe - Yes Gene, but the other suggestion adds was, in the votes, suggested to have an A, E, or N when the contact list member is viewed onscreen. The difference between colors in this suggestion or a letter symbol in the other is so minor and trivial. --Mookiemookie 15:56, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  9. Keep - This adds the suggestion of different text over the dupe suggestion. --Burgan 18:12, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  10. Dupe - See anywhere above. --Poopman9 18:31, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  11. Kill - The best thing to do would be to move the [Delete] section of contacts to the right (its own column), then just have the Notes section a space where the player can put whatever they want about the contact.--Pesatyel 19:05, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  12. Keep - None of these dupe votes has a link to the "dupe" get on it folks! Good idea. It gives me pleasure. --MrAushvitz 19:19, 7 August 2006 (BST)

  14. Keep - dupe or not, this is a good idea, and the last one was accepted, what I want to know is why Kevan didn't implement it before. --Kiltric 02:02, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  15. Keep Maybe it's a Dupe but I want Kevan to implement the last one. --Jon Pyre 05:48, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  16. Keep - Small changes aren't trivial when they kick ass. As Jon Pyre. - David Malfisto 12:49, 10 August 2006 (BST)
  17. Keep - I think it's a great idea. Removes a tedious aspect of the game and adds a colorful way of expressing whether or not your side is winning a barhah. --Muefigilo
  18. Keep - Instead of having to keep lists out of game or having to hammer the server for the contact list each time I want to know if someone is friend or foe(which is already on my contact list, but was a while since I saw and can't remember group/other status). Easy seeing which status I placed them as would allow faster playing and less server hits. --Niteniten 17:28, 13 August 2006 (BST)
  19. This suggestion is a Dupe of my Peer Reviewed "Contact Categories" suggestion. Using colors instead of the letters A, N, and E (for Allies, Neutral players, and Enemies) is not a significant difference. --John Taggart 21:08, 18 August 2006 (BST)

Seige Groan

Timestamp: 19:36, 7 August 2006 (BST)
Type: New zombie Skill
Scope: Groan of anger from attacking barricades
Description: Seige Groan

Appears on zombie skills tree as a subskill of "Feeding Groan", adds no benefits to your human characater.

Any time your zombie has spent 35 or more AP in a row attacking a barricade(without any other actions in between) and the barricade of the building you have been attacking is STILL not down... a button is available that says "Seige Groan" if you have this skill (costs 1 AP to use.)

  • This seige groan has a different pitch and volume than a feeding groan it is very loud, angered and abrupt:

"You hear a zombie scream in furious anger from (X), (Y)!" the seige moan is the same as a maximum range feeding groan (6 blocks!)

  • The message of intention of the zombie emitting the moan may mean "come here and help destroy this barricade!" or it may mean "This damn building has too many people barricading it, DON'T come here!" how you interpret this groan is up to you.
  • This groan has a different "sound" than the origional and it is meant for a different use, it also takes a lot longer to pull off.. but allows zombies some greater degree of passing information by distance to other zombies outdoors in the surrounding area.

This skill's intentions is to allow zombies to convey some degree of the only emotion they can express... anger. You also have to have feeding groan 1st just to but this skill, so it won't be available for so many zombie's until they have the spare XP to buy it.

It should add to the sights and sounds of Malton's streets.

Votes

  1. Keep - Author Vote. This could come in handy, feeding groans only go off if you see an actual survivor and usually requires and entire group just to get one off.. this one may be used to say "I blew all my AP on this stupid building, come finish it off for an easy meal..." So it's handy for creating new mobs around other buildings.. calling stray zombies and noob zombies to a specific target. --MrAushvitz 19:36, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  2. Keep - Don't see why people love to spam your work. Good job.--Canuhearmenow 19:41, 7 August 2006 (BST)
    • Re - Because it gives them pleasure.... --MrAushvitz 19:43, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  3. Kill - I don't think this will do anything but to help spamming the initial page when you log in. Feeding Groan is good as it is now, we don't need "Barricade Groan", "Generator Groan", "Radio Transmitter Groan", "Revive Point Groan" and so on... --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC | T | W! 20:07, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  4. Spamtastic - would possibly create even more spam than MrAushvitz himself!--Gage 22:11, 7 August 2006 (BST)

      • Actually only small part is. Fixed. --Niilomaan GRR! 22:35, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  5. Keep - I'd like to give this suggestion a fighting chance, since I don't see how it could possibly be considered Spam. --Rozozag 22:16, 7 August 2006 (BST)

  9. Kill - What Matthew said. --Max Grivas JG,T,P! 23:34, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  10. SPAMTARDED You can vote all you want, Kevan will never never implement this. There's no way he's going to allocate server space to keeping track of how many times you've knocked on cades in a row. Yet another unworkable "when you've done x for y time" Aushvitz suggestion. Rheingold 00:43, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  11. SPAMAICOUS Please no more.... --Technerd CFT 01:33, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  12. Kill - no, I appreciate the need for some communication, but aren't zombies supposed to be mindless? this is too much. --Kiltric 02:04, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  13. Kill - I don't really think this is necessary with all of the other groans indicating "Get over here, survivors present, help kill harmanz." I get where you're coming from with this, but I think it's already covered, since the other graons can be interpreted the same way. (To note, I don't think all of your suggestions are poop :D) - Bango Skank 02:34, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  14. Keep - This should be given a fighting chance. People are too quick to spam. -BrainsYummy 04:03, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  15. Spam - I like the idea, but there is no way this will be useful. --Xoid 04:16, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  16. Kill - Though I'm actually torn. On one hand, yes, spam fest. On the other, it could actually help ferals organize, making it easier to say 'hey guys, lets beet on this door for a while'. Still, I don't see it providing anymore use than just seeing zombies next to you on the map, so it's still a kill. --Burgan 04:44, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  17. Kill - Interesting idea, but Rheingold is right about it. --Rgon 05:37, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  18. Spam I've decided that any MrAushwitz suggestion with the phrase "once you have X times X occurs" is automatically spam. Or maybe a dupe. Eh, let's go with spam for now. Considering how many suggestions you field you should have learned to avoid obvious problems like that. --Jon Pyre 05:45, 8 August 2006 (BST)

Radio Volume

Removed by Author, improved version below.--Canuhearmenow 20:25, 7 August 2006 (BST)

Radio Volume V2.0

Timestamp: 20:25, 7 August 2006 (BST)
Type: Item Change.
Scope: People who hate spamedy spam spam.
Description: Currently when the radio transmitter is on everyone can hear it, right? well I say adding a new button to the game when in a building with a Radio Transmitter called "Volume control" with a dropdown menu with "Low" "Medium" and "High" as choices. By setting the transmitter to "Low" only you and the first 4 or 5 people can hear it. At "Medium" only you and 25 people can hear it. And at "High" it is basically the same as it is now.

Votes

  1. Keep - Author Vote, could help cut down on radio spam.--Canuhearmenow 20:25, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  2. Spam - The purpose of radio transmitters is to reach people. Some can use them properly, some can't. This would just limit all radio messages to a selected few. --Nob666 21:53, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  3. Spam - People who use the radio want to be heard. They will always choose the 'high' volume. Nothing will change. --Gage 22:10, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  4. Keep - Interesting.. this could be used by the broadcaster to be broadcast to those most "active" users in the stack.. what the hell. Tweakaliscious. And, gives you the option to cut down on radio spam messages (I only want this message to reach the active people here... to prevent confusion when they log on..) --MrAushvitz 22:23, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  5. Spam - Yes, radio spam is sure annoying, but don't read it or kill the radio. That will do.--Thari T/C/TJ! 22:48, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  6. Kill -If this said radio RECEIVER. As Gage pointed out, people who use the radio want to be heard. However, people who listen to the radio might not want everyone else to hear it...-Pesatyel 23:08, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  7. Spam - This would just make survivors to battle for the volume button. Less APs left to be used for everything else. --Niilomaan GRR! 23:11, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  8. Spam - FTW subverts radios all together. --Max Grivas JG,T,P! 23:37, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  9. Spam - This suggestion killed the radio star. --Mookiemookie 01:03, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  10. Spam - no, there would be so much fighting over volume control. Do you have any siblings? --Kiltric 02:06, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  11. Kill - I understand where you're coming from, and I guess this wouldn't be a bad idea if it could be implemented (in a non-silly way) of someone choosing whether or not to hear the broadcast (EARMUFFS!), but as is, too much fighting would happen over broadcast volume between survivors holed up. - Bango Skank 02:29, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  12. Spam Just imagine two young siblings fighting over a radio control at home. It is ridiculous to think that if I go and set up a generator and a radio in a building, that some griefer can come and set it to low. Or even if I set it to low because I don't want to hear it, I still get to hear it because I'm the one who turned it down? --Burgan 05:06, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  13. Spam - Don't see this as being all that useful, and kinda defeats the purpose of the whole thing. --Rgon 05:42, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  14. Kill- If you don't like radios, then just scroll through it all, it can't be that hard can it? Kaylee Hans 14:03, 11 August 2006 (BST)
