Hey Aichon, I have an idea that you and other partiers might be intrested in. I call it Mansion raid, and I would like to make it an annual event.  However, my question is if you would like to add the targets from Mansion raid to Big Bash 4?  My targets were to start at Alner mansion, and move up from there, taking all of the mansions, malls, and forts in Malton.  I just made a page for it, but hitting the targets with Big Bash would be more effective.

:Hey, awesomeas. A tour is a lot of fun, but it takes a lot of work and good timing if it's going to be a success. As you know, BB4 is already in full swing, so it may be difficult to attract members for a new zombie event right now, but we're already ruining every mall, fort, and mansion we come across, so why not come party with us for now? We're only going to be around for another few months, and it'll be easier to get a tour started after the party ends. :) {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 22:37, 17 July 2013 (BST)

very nice use of wikicode Aichon

Thanks, but the good stuff isn't even here yet. Check back in a few hours. ;) Aichon 23:47, 24 May 2013 (BST)
Ok, now everything is up. Aichon 02:29, 25 May 2013 (BST)

Some very smexy pages you've got here. :P -- †  talk ? f.u. 16:37, 27 May 2013 (BST)

I do my best. And hey, make sure you tell all your friends how nice the wiki pages are! After all, we want to get them into the Bash too. ;) Aichon 20:16, 27 May 2013 (BST)

Unf (and a bit of a question.)

These pages are looking rather sexy, I must say. Cheers on the Big Bash coming back into action. Even if I've had more experience playing as a survivor thus far, I really enjoy it when zombies eating brains do fun stuff as well, like rattle from time to time. Most of the hordes I've been seeing are too much of "srs bsnz", and it'd be great to see a shift in the current ratios, while everyone's having fun.

Why did you choose southern Malton in this case, though? Judging from how a character I just made a little over a month ago has not died, or even gone into peril even after more than 24 hours of standing in the streets, most of the suburbs around northern Malton that I've seen seem like they have a disproportionately lower amount of zeds.

Nonetheless, I'm sure this will be fun for players of all play styles. It's been a while since something of a scale as huge as all of the Big Bashes happened in-game. (Arguably, 2010's Escape, but even that is nothing.)

(Not meant to induce drama, by the way. I'm just genuinely curious as to what spurred this choice.) -- Chirurgien  (talk 07:42, 25 May 2013 (BST)

Southern Malton is merely the starting point, but we'll be hitting areas outside of it in no time at all. As for why the south, part of it's tradition, since the Bash has always started in southern Malton, and part of it came out of coordinating with other hordes and zombie groups to make sure we aren't cutting each other off. In the end though, we'll be going wherever the brains lead us, since that's where we'll find the most people to party with, and we simply MUST get up to the northern half so that we can party with Giddings Mall at some point, since I know that they always look forward to joining us! Aichon 14:17, 25 May 2013 (BST)
Ah, that clears it all up! I'm rather interested in partying along, and I'm definitely looking forward to the start of BB4. Thankfully UD is a game you can play with just a few minutes, as work has been crunching on my "online time". Giddings will probably be a lot more fun than it was during the previous Big Bashes, with those YETIs and whatnot. Thank you for the explanation! -- Chirurgien  (talk 15:40, 25 May 2013 (BST)
Damn Achion, this is the best looking event page on the wiki o.O PB&J 12:31, 28 May 2013 (BST)
Thanks! And that was the goal. ;) Aichon 14:09, 28 May 2013 (BST)
If this event is even slightly succesfull, I demand this page to be nominated for FA. I'm thinking about some ways to properly record the progress of the BB4 for generations to come, too bad C4NT isn't around anymore. PB&J 14:47, 28 May 2013 (BST)
You may want to check out our social pages. Facebook and Twitter pages are linked on the main page. We're also utilizing YouTube and Imugr (I think there may have been talk of Instagram and Pinterest). As far as I am aware, no UD event has ever had such a social footprint. It should be a pretty unique way of documenting the event. ~Vsig.png 17:00, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

DangerMap stuff

Following on Facebook and Twitter :) Anyone making daily screenshots of the Dangercenter and the overall Map? PB&J 19:38, 28 May 2013 (BST)

I know Vapor has been talking about doing something along those lines for the 3-4 months we'll be active. He might be able to provide more details. Aichon 20:14, 28 May 2013 (BST)
Yes, I will be taking daily screenshots. I had not thought to do the Danger Center map but that's a good idea. Its too bad so much of it is out of date. ~Vsig.png 20:50, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
It's not that out of date, most of the updates are under half a year old as far as I came across them (and a good part of those outdated ones don't really need updates, since half the damned city is safe) PB&J 20:59, 28 May 2013 (BST)
Is it possible (Aichon or someone else) to encourage those participating in BB4 to also update the statuses of the buildings they encounter? Might help in de-graying the map. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 22:38, 28 May 2013 (BST)
I can look into pointing people towards it (probably once I update the Location page with an actual starting point), but beyond that, I'd suggest hitting people up on IRC and asking them to update as they go along. That said, we'd probably be just as accurate if we simply opened the danger reports for every building in the suburb we're going to and just marked them as ruined. Of course, marking it as ruined gives survivors a reason to update later on with some new information, so that's a nice benefit. Aichon 23:05, 28 May 2013 (BST)
I've been trying to update as many building status as I encounter; I'll admit I've been a bit lazier with doing that for some places, as my primary priority is giving building status updates for those places marked as "unknown" for a few months up to roughly 2 years. On another note, is the suburb danger map automagically updated based on the EMRPs? --Accipere quam facere praestat injuriam. [ talk ] [ KT ] [ BB4 ] 23:09, 28 May 2013 (BST)
Afraid it isn't. The game and wiki aren't connected. The only way the EMRPs get into the danger system is because Bob and others update them accordingly based on the EMRPs. Aichon 03:37, 29 May 2013 (BST)
Ever since we got the Danger Center running last summer, I've been brooding on a way to make the overall suburb map update according to the status of the buildings. There are one or two ways I think can work, but they take a lot of work and I'm not even sure the wiki would endure such contraptions... PB&J 08:43, 29 May 2013 (BST)
Did you say there's a possibility that suburb danger levels can be updated from individual building data? If so, that would be amazing, but I figure that it might take a lot of work on the backend. For whatever reason, I thought that updating the EMRP resulted in a corresponding update in the suburb danger map. --Accipere quam facere praestat injuriam. [ talk ] [ KT ] [ BB4 ] 10:39, 29 May 2013 (BST)
Basicly, what I have in mind is some kind of calculator, with a ton of "switch" tags behind them, but I'm afraid that'll increase the lag updating danger reports causes. PB&J 10:54, 29 May 2013 (BST)
Considering I've already heard a few different people complain about the lag spikes from updating danger reports (twice this week, in fact, independently of each other and without any prompting), I'm loathe to add anything else that's as complicated as the DangerCenter, and what you're talking about would indeed be more complicated. In fact, if there were some way to update the DangerCenter to make it lighter, I'd do it in a heartbeat, since the wiki lags for everyone whenever someone updates it, and it's super annoying at times when I'm doing a series of edits and need to wait for 30 seconds in the middle of them because someone chose right then to update a building's status. Aichon 15:54, 29 May 2013 (BST)
Whoa, I didn't know that the lag was occurring as well for other people; I was under the impression that my connection just refuses to cooperate with the wiki at times (then again, my "mobile broadband" is already slow, but it is more sluggish when I am updating danger reports in succession.) I'll try to space out my edits a bit more, next time. Is there currently a workaround/fix for this, though (especially that mechanism where apparently 5,000 something templates get a callback whenever even just ONE of them is updated.) --Accipere quam facere praestat injuriam. [ talk ] [ KT ] [ BB4 ] 16:13, 29 May 2013 (BST)
Afraid there's no workaround, unless we outright remove the Danger Center, and it's one of those things where it's super-useful and only a handful of people are really bothered by the drawbacks of it. Aichon 16:28, 29 May 2013 (BST)
Is the collection of the DangerRoom Maps still on? The few ones in Community page are voer week old now. Polaria 14:00, 9 Jun 2013 (UCT)
You'll have to talk to the folks running those pages. We're just linking to them as a way of sharing them with everyone else. I know that Vapor has been taking screenshots regularly of the danger map, but I don't know if he's posting them. As for BARAGA, I couldn't say, since I haven't heard from him in a few days now. Aichon 20:07, 9 June 2013 (BST)

Location double-check

Just want someone else to confirm RenegadeRomero's edits that the Bash is starting in Buttonville, before I move my alt to the area. Thanks! Bob Moncrief EBDW! 00:44, 30 May 2013 (BST)

Hi, I'm one of the players organising this, and I can confirm that the Big Bash is indeed starting in Buttonville! Come on down! --BOSCH 01:04, 30 May 2013 (BST)
Aye, Renegade Romero is an organizer. Aichon has done a lot of the wiki work since we went public but the three of us (and perhaps some select others) will be doing official updates. ~Vsig.png 01:26, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
Alright, I'll be there! Bob Moncrief EBDW! 02:02, 30 May 2013 (BST)
Awesome! Also, yup, I can confirm he's legit (in fact, he's the one leading it, so anything he says is the Bash's official stance). He's actually been mentioned a few times on these pages, though not in obvious places. For instance, he's listed as one of the leaders on the Contact page, and we worked his name into one of our first pieces of art in the Gallery. Aichon 02:39, 30 May 2013 (BST)
On my way! BARHAH! PB&J 08:17, 30 May 2013 (BST)

I would be there by now, but my alt's been distracted by a bunch of tasty breathers who seem to be chilling outside in Lockettside... anyone know what's up there? Bob Moncrief EBDW! 02:45, 1 June 2013 (BST)

It might be some repair work. MOB swung through that area not too long ago. Aichon 05:43, 1 June 2013 (BST)

Really nice work here guys...

This is some sharp stuff right here. Well done.

See you round buttonville.  :)--  Seekandyeshallfind    * 01:31, 30 May 2013 (BST)

Thanks! We tried to make sure we put some solid effort into the prep work, and we're definitely glad that folks are getting something out of it. We'll be seeing you there! Aichon 02:41, 30 May 2013 (BST)
Nice indeed, maybe link the location at the top of the map (currently Buttonville) to the suburb itself? :) PB&J 09:13, 30 May 2013 (BST)
Good idea. I've made all of the references to our current suburb a link now, including the one at the top of the map. Aichon 14:22, 30 May 2013 (BST)
Thanks, really helps me out since I've never really traveled in the south :) Maybe we can implement the Dangermap from the suburb as well? (it'd encourage people to update the statuses and we'd see the whole suburb slowly turn red ^^ ) PB&J 15:08, 30 May 2013 (BST)
Slowly? Wink ~Vsig.png 16:22, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
I thought about adding the suburb dangerreport to the Location page, but it has aesthetic and functional issues that make me think it'd be clutter to the majority of Bashers, which is why I didn't add it. If we were able to edit individual blocks by clicking on them, then it might be more functional. And if we could specify custom colors (similar to what I did with the MOB Locator and the custom barricade plans we have, except without having to do the c/p work we do there), we could make it work, I think. Hmm...that may be something to look into... Aichon 17:24, 30 May 2013 (BST)

It has begun

The first building has fallen victim to the Big Bash 4, and if I'm not mistaken it's Ranson Boulevard Police Department with at least 10 zombies gathering around :)

The first Danger Center screenshot:

May 30, 2013 - 16:29h

Can we get a gallery or something for these? Pretty please Mr. Vapor and Mr. Aichon and Mr. bisfan and Mr. Bosch? PB&J 15:33, 30 May 2013 (BST)

Barhah! A gallery may not be a bad idea. I took screenshots of all three maps (Danger Center, Suburb and BB4 Map) yesterday right after the announcement and just saved them to my HDD. I have a project in mind for the screenshots after the Bash is over. I'm not opposed to keepinga separate gallery here on the wiki, though. ~Vsig.png 16:28, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
I've added a new section to the Gallery for posting Danger Center and Danger Map secreenshots. Baraga, feel free to update the Danger Center section on a daily basis. I made the code simpler to add new screenshots, and you have the wiki-fu anyway. Aichon 17:03, 30 May 2013 (BST)
Could we get those images kept on a separate page in someone's userspace for now, please? Great idea, Baraga, the kind of thing I love to see people propose and that the initiative on, and could be very interesting to see how we've progressed, but not something I want to make 'official'. --BOSCH 17:16, 30 May 2013 (BST)
Ooh, definitely. Baraga, why don't you keep it in your userspace so that you can get the credit for it, and we'll link to it from the Gallery or someplace. I'll still think about whether we can make updates to the danger reports any easier though... Aichon 17:46, 30 May 2013 (BST)
I'm not doing this for the credit, this is BB4, I'm here for the glorious amount of fun ;) PB&J 18:52, 30 May 2013 (BST)
I'm glad it's begun. I thought that it had all stopped, that there really were no big events going on in Malton these days, at least on the zombie side of things, that it was just a bit dull and uninteresting. Happily, I was wrong. I've sent my zombie alt (Old Barbara) down to Buttonville, and I'm looking forward to joining a horde. And a danger map does sound really nice. Glad some people are crazy enough to say "what the hell! Let's all give it a go!" --Jerden 20:03, 1 June 2013 (BST)
Yeah, I was worried about that too, but it looks like the game still has a little something left in it to give. I suspect those of us putting this one together won't put another one together after this, so we wanted to make sure we did this one right, and it looks like there's a lot of other people who agree that it's about darn time we had a Bash. Aichon 00:27, 2 June 2013 (BST)

suburb history

if you take any screenies of the suburb map, can you please add them to the suburb history page ? thx --hagnat 17:49, 30 May 2013 (BST)

I know Vapor is talking about doing this as a personal project. Aichon 17:53, 30 May 2013 (BST)
Aye, I'll have a lot of Suburb Danger reports by the end of this Bash. I'll upload them after I have them all (should be around 100 or so). It sounds like Peralta is also doing some screencaptures. ~Vsig.png 18:14, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
Starting to sound like we're doing double work here, but as long as everyone keeps track of date and time of each screen, we could pool the resources afterwards :) PB&J 18:53, 30 May 2013 (BST)
Seeing as my original plan was to just take Suburb Map screenshots (not Danger Center) and you've already begun, how about if you take Danger Center and I'll do Suburb Map. I won't spoil the surprise on my project yet but I will give you credit for the help you're providing. Also, I think Aichon is working on a community page for these types of community projects. More info about that from him shortly. ~Vsig.png 19:01, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
Whenever I can help, looking forward to what you're going to do :) If anyone has Danger Center screens, they're free to add them here. PB&J 19:07, 30 May 2013 (BST)

Too fast!

I think that BB4 is moving too fast into other suburbs. We are not staying long enough in each "burb for it to become, and stay, fully red. We are up in Kemsterbank now, and West Greyside had never gone red. We need to remain in the burbs long enough for the "Feral Cloud" to catch up with us.

A slow vs. fast march is how we will win. We can kill and demoralize more survivors if we stay in a suburb longer. Look at Bashes 1, 2 and 3! -- Taecsmall.jpg DirtManT|FU|StäV 07:42, 7 June 2013 (BST)

Hey DirtMan! The suburbs we've hit so far haven't had a lot of food, yet we've been more than big enough to destroy them in around about two days. Hanging around in a fully ruined suburb with no food has big drawbacks - zombies demand fresh brains and bored players can wander off - so we've had to move on!
Still, we definitely understand your concerns about feral clouds and moving too quickly for people to keep up (we have them too), and thankfully we've just landed in a suburb (Kempsterbank) that is so well stocked with delicious harmanz that we'll be able to stay here for longer than we've stayed in any other suburb so far, thoroughly ruin the place and give everyone time to catch up. We'll be in no rush to move on from here whilst the eating is good! BARHAH! --BOSCH 08:13, 7 June 2013 (BST)

West Grayside still has plenty of lit buildings. Wyke Hills already rebuilt. Definitely moving too fast.     : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : 10:45, 7 June 2013 (BST)

In both of those cases, people have predominately been coming in from other suburbs to do the repairs in our wake, so that doesn't indicate that we're moving too fast (though it is a separate issue that we'd like to address >:D). I've been scouting suburbs as we leave them, and Wyke Hills was 100% ruined with nothing intact at all, while West Grayside still had a small handful of intact buildings on the west side, but otherwise nothing else (and I didn't see anything lit). That said, we definitely understand the "it's going too fast" sentiment, but there are ways that we can have our cake (allow everyone to keep up) and eat it too (not run out of food), such as by snaking around instead of going in a straight line so that ferals don't have to go as far to keep up, and doing so would also hinder repair efforts from neighboring suburbs too, which would handle the problem you're citing. ;) Aichon 16:32, 7 June 2013 (BST)
To add to what Bosch and Aichon have said, the core tennent of Big Bash 4 is having having a whole lot of fun. Tactical victories (though fun in their own right) and demoralizing survivors is a lesser goal. The other day, I had a Wyke Hills survivor thank me for bringing BB4 through their suburb. It had been too long since anything had happened there and they were looking forward to rebuilding in our aftermath. Having said that, we understand that in order for all 100+ Big Bashers to have maximum levels of fun, we can't move too quickly. I think we've found a way to balance out our goals of getting to the food, gaining tactical victories, keeping babahz fed and near the horde and yes, even a bit of harman demoralization. We can and will do all this all while sticking to the core tennent of having a ton of fun. Keep an eye on our progress in the coming week. This party is just getting started and it isn't going to end any time soon. ~Vsig.png 19:30, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
makes sense, guess fast isn't bad. was fearing a repeat of BB3 where i could never keep up. and that weird non-ending fizzle-out thing last time, what was that about?     : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : 19:37, 7 June 2013 (BST)
Yeah, when we started planning out BB4, that was one of the problems with BB3 that I brought up early on. As Vapor said, we're working on finding a balance to maximize fun by allowing everyone to keep up easily without running out of food, and we think we have some ideas for how to make it work, but we're still getting a feel for things. As for the ending to BB3, not sure. I was just as confused. We don't have any plans yet for how we're ending this party, but I think it's safe to say that we're going to do something different than that, at the very least. ;) Aichon 20:00, 7 June 2013 (BST)
And as I was promised a fun summer, I expect BB4 to tour for at least a couple of months. It's a bit sad the harmanz don't see the use of a dangerous suburb and have started rebuilding, I mean, it's soooo much easier to just get eaten alive, right? PB&J 14:22, 10 June 2013 (BST)

Brilliant so far!

So, anyone else loving it so far? I certainly am, particularly as I'm finally getting the chance to attack a Mall. One question though (purely out of curiosity) - who decides where the horde goes next? Or does it just flow onwards? --Jerden 18:26, 17 June 2013 (BST)

Bosch, Vapor, and myself are the ones making those decisions, but directing a horde is a bit like herding cats, so sometimes you just have to roll with the punches and adapt to the changing situation. We have an idea of the places we want to hit and directions we want to head, but we've already taken a few detours along the way for various reasons. Aichon 18:58, 17 June 2013 (BST)
Glad to hear you're having fun with it, Jerden. The best is yet to come so be sure stick with us. ~Vsig.png 23:38, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
Well, thanks for answering my question! --Jerden 18:20, 18 June 2013 (BST)

Why?

Why did we leave Penney Heights before the entire burb was red? We left, and relocated in Osmondville, and Joachim Mall has already begun rebuilding! We didn't even ruin the entire burb, yet we move on???!!! -- Taecsmall.jpg DirtManT|FU|StäV 05:52, 20 June 2013 (BST)

We ruined all but a few blocks, but survivors will always rebuild behind us, which is what's happening here. The only way to stop them from doing so is to stay put and never leave, but that'd be a pretty boring party, right? Besides, the stuff they have rebuilt is predominately empty at this point since they haven't had time to move back in, meaning we'd just be wasting time bashing cades that aren't protecting any tasty bra!nz. It's better to move on and eat more people than linger where there isn't any food.
But just because the horde is moving on does not mean that every single Basher needs to do so right away. We're a feral horde that's out to have fun, so if you want to keeping bringing barhah to them and catch up in a day or two, I know that I'd fully support you, and that goes for anyone else at any time during the Bash. In fact, we're trying to intentionally move around Malton in a manner that allows straggling Bashers to catch back up again if they want to linger along the way, and we assume that some of them will choose to do so at each suburb we visit. Aichon 06:38, 20 June 2013 (BST)
Wasn't this question already asked and answered? You seem kinda mad DirtMan, the interrobangs being the prime indicator there. Do you feel somehow entitled to a Big Bash organized by others that fits your expectations perfectly? Again, great job to Aichon, Vapor and Romero.--  Seekandyeshallfind    * 15:37, 20 June 2013 (BST)

Why "interrobang"? "I don't see that anywhere in my post". I'm just saying we are moving fast, I'm not casting asparagus on anyone! -- Taecsmall.jpg DirtManT|FU|StäV 05:24, 7 July 2013 (BST)

He's talking about the "?!" stuff. An exclamation point is called a "bang" in some circles, and question marks are used for interrogatory statements (a.k.a. questions), hence the name. Anyway, it's cool. We've tried to adapt our path to make it less troublesome for folks to keep up with everyone, so hopefully it's been going smoother for you, but it's really the Bashers themselves that set the pace. When we post a new suburb here, we're basically just reporting, rather than direction. ;) Aichon 06:57, 7 July 2013 (BST)
I for one love the direction this is taking. It is much easier to follow than Big Bash 3. Lack of being able to keep up was one of the reasons I just sent my zombie back home before it even ended. Loving it! Thanks guys! I know a lot of hard work goes into these events.--Akbar 14:46, 9 July 2013 (BST)

Mansion raid 2013

Hey Aichon, I have an idea that you and other partiers might be intrested in. I call it Mansion raid, and I would like to make it an annual event. However, my question is if you would like to add the targets from Mansion raid to Big Bash 4? My targets were to start at Alner mansion, and move up from there, taking all of the mansions, malls, and forts in Malton. I just made a page for it, but hitting the targets with Big Bash would be more effective. -awesomeas, zombie 20:40, 17 July 2013

Hey, awesomeas. :) Aichon 22:37, 17 July 2013 (BST)
