Does anybody have any idea what's breaking the map? --Morgan Blair 18:50, 10 May 2008 (BST)

Looks like inclusion overloading. There's a limit to how many templates / pages you can include into the deign of a page either directly, or as included sections of included pages. This wasn't a problem last week, and no deign changes happened, so maybe the wiki setting have been changed. I'll look into that, and also see what I can do to reduce the calls on this page; its only maybe 20 or so over. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 21:06, 10 May 2008 (BST)
Actually the limit is the size of included stuff, not the "number of templates" --~~~~ [talk] 11:04, 11 May 2008 (BST)
Yeah, so I gathered from aking on wiki questions. So why is it having trouble now, when it was not before? Is it because the invidual EMRP pages are growing in size? There's an archeive of past reports on each page that is excluded from the mao with"noinclude" tags- does data that is "noincluded" still count towards the size? SIM Core Map.png Swiers 21:00, 11 May 2008 (BST)
I think that if you make a sub-page for each EMRP: Suburb page where the actual summary for the table is kept, it will solve the problem. Include the summary onto the suburb's EMRP page, and add an update link (it will make reporting marginally more difficult, with two edits instead of one, but not really an issue). Even though the old reports aren't showing in the table inclusion, their text must be counting towards the limit... --Morgan Blair 06:43, 13 May 2008 (BST)
That's pretty much what I was thinking. Actually, I was just gonna move all the old reports to the talk pages for the EMRP pages they are currently on, or some such- I wouldn;t want to risk doing all those edits and having it not work. You know, in my spare time, with my extra energy. Which means, maybe never. If somebody else wanted to come up with a system to make it work and do the 200 needed edits... SIM Core Map.png Swiers 09:14, 13 May 2008 (BST)
Sounds like the easiest method. Just add a note that when the pages are updated, the previous report is to be archived on the talk page at that time. If you don't get around to it, I probably will... --Morgan Blair 22:22, 15 May 2008 (BST)
If one of us did a new editing guide and talk page format for Dakerston, we could just use that as a cut-n-paste guide for the reste, and just work from suburb #2 on up, leaving a message here as to what the most recently "re-formatted" EMRP suburb page was.
Actually, I'm thinking it would be best to move ALL of the report text themselves to the talk page; that way, when you update, you just paste your report text on the talk page, then go to the main page and edit the summary accordingly. The advantage (besides logical separation of content) is that you wouldn't have to move old report text from the main page to the talk page via cut-n-paste. (Not after this one-time reformatting, that is.) SIM Core Map.png Swiers 23:00, 15 May 2008 (BST)

Okay, I've started. Here's what I'm doing: Take the entirety of the wikicode between the

<noinclude> and </noinclude>

tags, and move it to the Talk page for that EMRP:Suburb page, and make the following change: Under "Making Updates", replace the "this" in ...at the top of this page mean, and please... with:

the SUBJECTPAGENAME

Back on the subject page, place the following code between the noinclude tags:

Making Updates
To update this suburbs report log, post your External Military report here: TALKPAGENAME.

See the Talk:External Military Report Page for information on what the stats given at the top of this page mean, and please update them according to any reports you log.

And that should do it! --Morgan Blair 04:23, 16 May 2008 (BST)

Finished the first row. I'll do a few more, then let you know where I've stopped... --Morgan Blair 04:37, 16 May 2008 (BST)
Did the north 50 suburbs. Don't worry about doing the rest: I'll finish them up myself; at the moment, the page looks back to normal. Hooray! --Morgan Blair 05:34, 16 May 2008 (BST)
Cool. Looks understandable, and not any harder to edit / use. I looked at them and found one link that was out of date. That's my fault; originally I linked the explanation of summaries to the EMRP talk page, because the summaries were still a work in progress! Rather than fix that link on 100 pages, I just fixed the EMRP talk page page they so it no provides the info it should. I also cleaned up and updated the info it gives while I was at it. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 06:52, 16 May 2008 (BST)
Er, I've been a bit distracted lately. I'll try to finish up the southern half of the map in the next week (before the logs get so long that that map breaks again!). --Morgan Blair 00:07, 23 May 2008 (BST)
Well, it's all finished! I finally got back to it, fully expecting to have 50 suburbs to do, but only 8 remained! I double-checked the 84 pages that other editors had modified/created, and it was all spot-on. So, we should be set. --Morgan Blair 09:04, 25 May 2008 (BST)

The Same?

I noticed several times that recently the EMRP suburb danger levels are almost the same as the Map of Suburbs danger levels.Does anyone know why this is?--Gamestriker4 01:54, 18 August 2008 (BST)

This map shows data collected from External Military reports on the External Military Report Page in a summarized format, and super-imposed on the Suburb Danger Map. For an explanation of what the symbols mean, see here. - In other words this map is the Suburb danger map with EM reports written on top.--xoxo 02:07, 18 August 2008 (BST)

While keeping its wild inaccuracy, and still being biased by the everyday griefer/idiot/trenchie/zombie spy/jerk.Nice.--Gamestriker4 01:43, 18 September 2008 (BST)

As with the omnimap, the SDM color info is there for largely comparison purposes; it shows you if / where SDM is wrong, so you can go fix it, and have ammunition to back up your edits. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 06:38, 18 September 2008 (BST)

Map Squares

The map squares aren't square anymore. As far as I can tell, it's because the EMR templates contain "dzn" as a modifier and this means that the zombie number field doesn't fit on one line. If the EMR box were changed to "~12" rather than "~1dzn" then the map would go back to being square again. Gridfire 16:53, 23 June 2010 (BST)
