Do journals about current game events count?--Brian eetar 20:26, 15 October 2008 (BST)

While the lexicon idea was cool, for some people it was somehow confuse and unclean. I hope that people with writing skills will find this place more amusing to be used to write their own stories about what happened to Malton before, during and after the zombie outbreak. All stories are supposed to be fanfiction, not needed to follow any official backstory already created. Have fun writing, have fun reading. --hagnat mod 00:32, 1 July 2006 (BST)

Well Lexicon, like most collaborative writing project, let alone collaborative fiction, is a hard game to teach (and this is coming from someone who has a lot of background in teaching creative writing in the classroom) even though the rules are relatively simple compared to say an Oulipo game. I still think the Lexicon schedules are a bit too much under the gun for anything serious or "good" to come from it (and seeing from the last lexicion, I think I'll be proved right). Still, the "edit" happy mods are probably not going to be happy with a bunch of fiction not really attached to the Urban Dead mythos (the timeline provided doesn't seem to fit the game at all, the quarantine's been going on for over a year). I'd encourage folks to write fiction based within the events of the game. See for example, what I'm doing with my page and USIT.--The Envoy 22:02, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

This sounds like a lot of fun, but I stumbled on it completely by accident--get out there and advertise this page, man! I'd love to see more interest in this! -- Dray 18:51, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

The problem is that 80% of them are short. You basically get an introduction, and the writer loses interest. Well, I've got one coming and it's long. -Mark 19:07, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

I wrote a really long story. As far as I know no one has ever read it! If there was even mild interest I would finish it.--Airborne88Zzz1.JPGT|ZC|MI|E! 07:53, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Wouldn't certain journals, such as the one on my user page, qualify as part of this? Or no? --MorthBabid 22:20, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Yep. Make a new page with it, then link it here. -Mark 02:07, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

I like this better than the Lexicon for one reason: Nobody sets rules on my writing but me. --_Vic D'Amato__Dead vs Blue_ 09:02, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Hey guys, is there a specific order in which these have to be posted? I noticed that, not counting the "Long Haul" story in "The Outbreak" section, the stories are assembled in chronological order from July 06 to January 07. Is there a specific order, or can you just your links wherever you please? --Private Mark 16:32, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

New Idea

I'd like to add a section at the bottom for regular contributors, where people can enter their user name. I'd also like to do a group writing project similar to the Lexicon, but overall a way to build a more consistant mythology to the game. I'd also like to write beginning and end pieces, kind of like "Batman: Year One" and "The Dark Knight Returns." But with zombies. I'm already cooking up the Omega Man for Malton in my noodle, but I don't want to piss anyone off by acting like my version is authoritative. It'd be great to do more group writing projects like the lexicon, but I'm thinking maybe start a writer's guild that would have a dedicated discussion page to look at the whole story, beginning to end, toss out ideas, kind of piece together the big picture, with individual writers picking up their favorite characters or RP-ing within the boundaries. If anyone cares/still reads this page and is excited, drop me a line in the "Inside the Freyverse" page of my user talk page, below all the stuff about Project Spark Plug. We might also consider giving some thought to meta-writing, scenery where characters can go and not be active, but still be within the bounds of the game. For an example of a metasetting, the Malton sewers was a pretty good example, I thought. --Jonathan Frey 22:12, 6 June 2007 (BST)

In the template that we have to place in our story, the word officially is misspelt. Ironic, given the request for grammar and spelling checks, eh? Asherah 03:43, 2 August 2007 (BST)
