Wouldn't it make more sense to spend the one AP yelling "I WIN" when we cross the finish line than trying to hack the starter with a 30% hit chance? They both have the time stamp but you don't need to waste 3 AP trying to hit you. Just wondering. JD Ryerson 15:49, 15 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Good idea, I think I'll go for both options. --BenM 22:52, 15 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I'd just like to say that I think that this is hilarious, and my zombie will be following your progress closely...hoping for a straggler or two, of course. ^_^ --RSquared 18:09, 15 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Excellent! The greater the challenge the better.  :) --BenM 22:52, 15 Dec 2005 (GMT)
don't folow to closely (if you catch my drift) --alex carter 1:35, 16 Dec 2005 (GMT)

all the pepple runnig should add each outher to thare contact list --alex carter 1:35, 16 Dec 2005 (GMT)

What do you guys think the odds are that Kevan will recognize or acknowledge the efforts put forth by the players here? It would be really cool to have the winners name posted on the Game News page or somthing similar. JD Ryerson 17:25, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I sure hope we didn't need a mobile phone... --TheWastrel

Starting time

Is that 08:00 US Eastern Standard Time? It'd be a good idea to include the UTC/GMT offset so those of us who think of Eastern Standard is something else (i.e. AEST, which is frequently reported locally and by computers as EST). --BenM 15:06, 16 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Just to throw in my two cents. I e-mailed someone about this but haven't gotten a response yet. Due to the Christmas holidays I will be traveling on the 18th and 19th of Dec. If it's not too much inconvenience to the other racers I would like to postpone the starting time till the evening of the 19th. If that's too late or just can't be done I understand. JD Ryerson 17:49, 16 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I'm fine with a delay, I'd like to get some more people in the race. I'd also like the race time specified in GMT/UTC, since not everyone (including the undead.com server) is in the United States. --BenM 18:35, 16 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Rules for the Race

So what happens if our character gets killed by a Zombie or PK'er? Will we be allowed to continue as a Zombie or will we have to wait for revival before we can continue? JD Ryerson 03:57, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)

-Talking of PKing, my character Mat Blake has just been killed by lorenzo lamas and thrown out of the mall, any chance of a revive at the kinsman monument (2 south)? I wouldn't normally be bothered but I really wanted to run.

I recommend you check this link out. Ever since I started using it I noticed revives were happening a lot quicker. It could be just coincidence, but it can't hurt to try regardless. --BenM 16:18, 19 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I wonder

How does the winner attack Tyler Whitney0 if the latter cannot reach the mall first??--Cah51o 22:40, 24 Dec 2005 (GMT)

The rules state that "The final winner of the race will be determined by whoever attacks or heals Tyler Whitney0 first at the finish line." I guess that means if we're all across the finish line before Tyler Whitney0 then it's the first person to notice that he's there and attack him. Rules are rules.
The whole point of attacking Tyler Whitney0 is to get the timestamp. We can also get it by speaking. Also I suppose, it is not in the rules that Tyler Whitney0 may turn out to be behind the leading racers. Waiting for Tyler Whitney0 doesn't make much sense. I guess, it would be wiser to have another character who would stay at Caiger for the whole time of the race; of course this suggestion is late.--Cah51o 01:12, 6 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Channel 4 News Team

Sorry I can't take part, I'd been away from UD for a while, what with finals and Xmas and all- but that's all in real life and, therefore, is neither here nor there. Anyhow, you guys can feel free to update the "News" section on the Channel 4 News Team page with stuff from the Iditarod, if you want somewhere Glorious and Holy to broadcast. Otherwise, I'll just stick things I read on yours there from time to time. Rock on, stay Classy. -Ron Burgundy 23:21, 23 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I added a little bit on to the news section already there, by all means someone with some literacy or humour feel free to remove or change it. (Thanks for the coverage by the way!). -SirTubston

Suggestions for the next race

Alright, as the First Annual Malton Iditarod comes to a close, but not before the last person makes it over the line, do any of the race participants have any suggestions for next years run? Would you like to volunteer as staff? Let the race staff know what you think, what you liked, disliked, and how it can be improved.

  • For the next race it would be nice if we knew the route and checkpoints before the race. Also each checkpoint should have a staff member to verify each one of the participants actually runs through that building. Staff could also keep the building at acceptable barricade level, provide medical help and revification.--Cah51o 01:10, 6 Jan 2006 (GMT)
    • Is there any update on the next Iditarod? I'm very interested in parcipating, but there seems to be no update on the wiki page. -- Robert McFarlane 18:47 22 Nov 2006 (GMT)

Mall Tour '06 and the Channel 4 News Team

They say the Mall Tour is nearing a close. So, when it's all over, can we expect another race? Or are you guys cooking up something shocking and obscene? I, for my part, am working on a Fourth Phase in Our Cunning Plan which may take me away from Caiger Mall. If there's another race, of course, I'll have to delay it!

Yours in Odin, --Ron Burgundy 00:57, 18 March 2006 (GMT)

Got it! Keep me posted and I'll try and work things out with you guys when the time comes. --Ron Burgundy 02:29, 12 July 2006 (BST)

I thought you all might like this...

  • I guess this is what happens to any zombies that try to join up in the race or start their own. :) http://zombierun.ytmnd.com/ -04:27, 27 August 2006 (BST)

A logistical question...

... in case I want to participate next time. How do the race sponsors know you went through every checkpoint? Screenshots or something? Just wondering, since I don't see any mechanism to stop someone from hanging around the starting burb until "the right time" and then claiming victory without actually making the trip around. Crap, I'd like to play.. but it looks like this is a dead topic.. too bad really--Airborne88Zzz1.JPGT|Z.Quiz|PSS 05:50, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
