Pre-Production Discussion

Yes. It will happen. Discuss this event! Also, I should warn you now...I have plans for the mapping of the locations...Irregular shaped plans. ;) --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 04:24, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Thats beautiful. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:46, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Heh. Good location design, eh? Less locations then AHMH3, but the way it's laid out makes it look bigger then AHMH3. ;D --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 19:47, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Looks good, but you'll have to make sure there isn't a bash or mall tour at the same time. :P --Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 19:58, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Bash? Mall Tour? We're playing on half the RRF's turf! What's to be scared about? =D --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:02, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
I think you may need a small army of revivers. I'll see who I can dig up. ~Vsig.png 20:10, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Top three reasons for why these specific suburbs:

  1. The West is RRF's turf. More danger.
  2. 3 malls. Giddings covers East, Downdney covers North, and Hildebrand covers both South and West.
  3. Fort Creedy and it's many trenchies.

ket me get my duck hunt in first though. This can be the finale of the marathon --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:19, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Yea, I was considering that. I didn't want to be an ass and just shove this Manhunt in before yours, so... >_< --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:29, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Location Alternatives

I've received a few complaints that the area design might take too big an area space for some competitors, so I'm offering these alternative designs... --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:48, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

I am giving these a bump. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 03:11, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

It seems we shall be going with alternative one. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 00:50, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Alternative Design 1

Yagoton Millen Hills Raines Hills Pashenton Rolt Heights Pescodside Border

Here is the first of many alternative designs for the area. It's just about the same as the original, just shrunk down to size a bit. Thoughts? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:48, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Smaller areas are good. What are the revives like in this area?--Michalesonbadge.pngTCAPD(╯°□°)╯ ┻━┻ 23:51, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
That would depend on the z:s ratio of each individual suburb. Ridleybank is obviously not gonna have any quick revive ques as oppose to Pitneybank on the other end. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:53, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

  3. I really like 4, but it would be too easy to fall out of the play area, and you'd have to walk enormous distances to move 10 squares.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 19:39, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
    Speaking of Alternative 4...I'm thinking of a Malton Marathon-themed Malton Manhunt event after AHMH4... --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:19, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
What, something like you have to kill somebody in each stop off suburb before you can continue to the next? So people are slowly left as the only person in a suburb and they go out, and eventually there's a first person to cross the finish line?--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:39, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
I was actually thinking of AHMH rules, with checkpoints within each suburb, and finishing one lap gets an extra few points. However, getting killed by another contestant before you finish a lap will result in you starting all over (but you keep whatever points you currently have, obviously!). Or something like that. I don't know. Maybe I'm just thinking too much. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 22:46, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
Sounds good. Classic rules are the best. Some time after the Manhunt Marathon I think we need to do an elimination manhunt.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 07:54, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
This as an alternative, but I think the original is the best. How many participants so far?--Mr Watt 06:46, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Judging from the previous 3 AHMHs, AHMH currently has an average of 16 contestants (AHMH1 had 6, AHMH2 had 19, and AHMH3 had 23). The amount of kills have also been increasing with each event, despite all my efforts of trying to keep the area size in proportion with the number of contestants, with AHMH3 having a total of 86 kills in a 4x4 suburb area. So really, I don't think the size of the playing field will matter. I can make the entire city of Malton the playing field, but with about 6 kills per suburb in AHMH3, having all of Malton as a playing field might probably give us about 600 kills in a month. Really, I don't know how these people do it. From what I was thinking and hoping back then, I was expecting less kills by increasing the area, but as you can tell, that's not happening. xD --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 14:53, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Infecting others at RP's

Obvious no-no, imo, because it's essentially the same as attacking at RPs. I could lower you to 1hp, only to have you killer by some trench really easy. Attacking at rps is stupid.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 08:39, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

As Vapor, I use FAKs after standing up anyway so infection doesn't mean much. I agree it's kinda lame, but I'll say Aye to avoid adding another rule. I don't like rules. --Sophie ◆◆◆ CAPD 02:01, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Maybe we could come up with a good compromise for the dates. This one is set for 2 months, but can be changed if those days are bad for the majority of those interested. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 15:59, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

The Rogues Gallery

At present the DEM doesn't hate me. Or the character I intend to use, anyway. I'd like to keep it that way. Will kills be logged on the RG? --Espemon333 02:29, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

only if some idiot reports you. none of the contestants will do it. but there might be some goody two shoes in a building when you murder someone for the manhunt. par for course man-- bitch 02:35 7 March 2011 (UTC)
They won't usually take it then either. Axe usually lets the RG know who's competing. It's only happened once in the past (before axe started letting them know) and the report didn't go through as it was a part of the hunt then.--ZIPO/Talk/◆◆/CAPD 04:46, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Heads Up

Question

Regarding the rule "You may not enlist the help of anyone not involved in this Manhunt. (ie: Broadcasting on the radio that one of the contestant is KOS.)", does that include Mrh?ing for revives or asking for FAKs?--Penguinpyro 02:06, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

No. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 11:35, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Start/End time clarification

Since I am guessing that the competition will start as soon as the clock rolls over to the 20th, I just wanted to clarify whose clock we are talking about here. Will the starting and ending date of this event be determined by UD time?

--Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  22:03, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

That's right. Server reset, which runs under UTC if I'm not mistaken. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:37, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
It's GMT right now, but I think the server will switch to BST on the 27th. I've always thought easiest is to use wiki time. So wiki edit timestamps are always in manhunt time. --Sophie ◆◆◆ CAPD 00:06, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
Right. I forgot British times haven't swap over for Daylight Savings yet. Go with wiki time, Al. That'll be your best bet. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 00:12, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
Which is server time anyway, only easy to check :)
(pay attention on that Sunday, you get 2 extra APs at 1 AM :D) --Sophie ◆◆◆ CAPD 00:16, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
Wait...If the clock is moving forward, wouldn't we be losing 2AP instead of gaining? O.o? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:24, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
I suspect it's implemented like so: (1) the game stores your AP and a timestamp along with your character, and (2) whenever you refresh, if the current time is 30 mins or more ahead of the stored timestamp, then your character's AP and timestamp are updated appropriately. This would explain why the exact minute your AP regenerates is different than everyone else's.
Thus, what I think happens is: you login at 0:59, the game gives you your accumulated AP up to that time. You reload 1 minute later, but now is 2:00, so the game computes it's been 60 minutes and change, so it duly gives you 2 more AP. Conversely, on 30th October, it'll be a full hour (from 1:59 BST) where you won't gain any AP.
All this being just an educated guess of what really goes on, of course :") --Sophie ◆◆◆ CAPD 23:59, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
This wiki really needs to document something like this...After someone tests the theory, of course. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 00:48, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
Oh I know it happens, tested it last year, was only lucubrating here why it may happen.
But yeah, come to think of it, good time to confirm it and document it. --Sophie ◆◆◆ CAPD 03:23, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Silly question

Kill reports and accompanying screenshots are to be provided as they are accumulated on the talk page of this event or elsewhere? Any guidelines to the format of reports? Also, I assume Dumwit shots are adequate?

--Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  21:14, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Yup yup. Even better would be a Rolf Harris original painting of the event, but well... he's kinda in a bit of a bad shape atm. ~ Kempy “YaketyYak” | ◆◆◆ | CAPD | 21:48, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
Dumwits and other witness systems are acceptable. As for other guidelines, you may, if you got a manual screenshot, censor the screenshot of the location, but only enough censorship to allow other contestants to figure out where the kill took place (with a bit of thinking and work, at least!) Alternatively, using the game's "Out of AP" screen is an acceptable censorship format, but you must really be out of AP when you got the kill. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:29, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

The shooting back clause yet again

I propose this addition to the rules: if a character who is not competing in the manhunt kills a competitor, that character becomes a valid target for all competitors, a legal kill for scoring purposes.

For people who didn't play RITA: back then a number of players tried to disrupt the manhunt by killing the competitors. They did accomplish that a few competitors became distracted engaging them, rather than focusing on fellow hunters, thus reducing the number of kills in the manhunt proper and arguably detracting from the main spectacle. So the rationale for this suggestion is simply to make it so that attempts from third parties to disrupt the competition end up adding to the show instead.

I proposed this last time and got shot down, but I'd like to do it again now that the hunt hasn't started, so it doesn't end up being a change of the rules in the midst of the event. Sorry for the short notice hey, I forgot until today. You think we can have a vote on this? --Sophie ◆◆◆ CAPD 10:34, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

As one of those disrupting players, I'll confirm that we REALLY fucked up that manhunt :P But I have to disagree. In the unlikely event of it happening again, the players would be an environmental hazard, not a kill. For all we know, that player could be a self-righteous bounty hunter or a local of the area. Suddenly they kill a manhunter and there's another easy source of exp, someone who doesn't even realise that they're being targeted. It affects the score as well, boosting it to a higher amount than it should be. They're a hazard. The challenge for them is to be able to avoid them and yet still be able to kill other manhunters.

However, I'll change my vote to a pro if this clause ONLY activates in a event of repeated kills by the same user or group, all showing signs of coordination. Shadok T Balance is power 11:41, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
