Would it be possible...?

Would it be possible to create a forum like [1], but for Urban Dead?Cookies and Cream 05:58, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

A general urban dead forum you mean?-- SA 11:42, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Might be possible, depending on if it's an extension that's avalable for non-Wikia wikis. Linkthewindow  Talk  11:48, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, A general urban dead forum perhaps situated on-wiki or as a link in a noticeable place, perhaps Main Page? Cookies and Cream
There was unofficial forums, a long time ago. Shit happened, people abandoned them.-- SA 02:09, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes, do let's give people something else to follow in this game that takes five minutes each day, because the wiki isn't enough already....
Go ahead, make a forum, it'll run into exactly the same problems as Desens, Resens, The Forums, Barhah, Brainstock etcetera, et-fucking-cetera. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 02:16, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
If we could somehow place it on-wiki, would that help? and what did go wrong with all those i.e. I'm too lazy to find out. Cookies and Cream 11:34, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Bitter trouble-makers like Izzy got banned =D DanceDanceRevolution (Talk | Contribs) 11:45, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I agree Izzy, that is a problem. perhaps we can solve this by a) Refusing you access from the beginning or b) giving it to you to rule? Cookies and Cream 13:00, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I didn't know that Iscariot was banned from any of those places. Or is DDR just saying shit again? :S -- SA 13:39, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
I don't like this idea at all. Nothing good can come out of this. --Haliman - Talk 13:45, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
It is cool, he clarified for me on IRC. Would everyone <3 me if I made a super cool forum and ruled it with my iron fist? Which coincidentally might have mild arthritis?-- SA 13:48, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Shock of shocks, DDR is making things up about me again. Also, we have a UD Wiki Forum at which all sysops are automatically made mods. Can you see how successful it is?

The wiki's already set up to perform all of the functions that a forum does, and better given there's a link from the game interface to the main page where things like policy changes, promotions and open discussions are noted as a matter of course. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! what the hell is that for? I am taking it out.--Gage 01:38, 28 August 2006 (BST)

Gage, Canuhearmenow asked me to make him a skeleton of a page. Just leave it alone and let him work. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 02:31, 28 August 2006 (BST)

MentorNewbie

I agree with what Thari said on your MentorNewbie template, but if you really want to keep it, make a correction: The Project Welcome page doesn't have any kind of newbie's tip at all! You wuold do better in directing newbies to the Welcomenewbie template directly instead of the Project Welcome page so they can gather some tips there.

Anyways, I don't think anyone wuold mind if you make a string of text on the Welcomenewbie template announcing that if they want they can find a mentor on Project Mentor, and use that one instead of your template. As long as it's NPOV I don't mind neither. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 05:01, 12 September 2006 (BST)

How long

Should unanswered/answered requests be kept down there? Mine was still here 5 months after I put it there. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 07:01, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Just A Query

I'm not exactly a newbie but sometimes, y'know, I have questions. I've already bogged down the FAQ enough and this seems like a goodwill organization so I figured I'd just ask it here. I was wondering how one would go about making a redirect page? It's kind of a bugger that searching for one's username warrants no links unless specified to search for usernames, which is not done by default, and I'd like to simply patch over from searching for Pyrranha straight to my userpage. Not like anybody would ever search for my username, but the point is still valid, y'know? --Pyrranha 03:00, 11 May 2007 (BST)

Actually, since I'm asking questions, how would one go about creating a table of contents? That would be very helpful. Thanks. --Pyrranha 03:00, 11 May 2007 (BST)

Sugjested addition to signature formatting

I wanted the "M!" in my signature to more closely match the Project Mentor logo, so I pulled out my DigitalColor Meter, and determined that the best "Wiki Safe" color was CornflowerBlue (well, I'd already decided that, but I wanted to look at the RGB values, since the Hex values didn't match).

Here's the existing signature:

Your Name M!

This is what I would suggest changing it to:

Your Name <span style="color: CornflowerBlue">M!</span style>

This results in an M! rather then an M!.

Subsequently, I realized that, registering as a newbie, I wasn't actually supposed to add the "M!" to my signature, but regardless... --Morgan Blair 05:10, 15 August 2007 (BST)

Just FYI, adding will now produce the same thing... so if you were to add it as part of your signiture, like I've done, it will be there for others to see. -Poodle of DoomM! Fear is only as deep as the mind will allow it be. 02:01, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Do not do this. Adding template calls inside templated signatures increases the speed in which templates fail in high use pages. Use the normal wiki code in your signature. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 21:31, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Sounds good to me.... -Poodle of DoomM! Fear is only as deep as the mind will allow it be. 21:42, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Then you're obviously an idiot, templates failing in places like Talk:Suggestions or admin pages is not something amusing moron. I see A/D in the future of this template. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 21:45, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Excuse me,... all I said was that I'd change it dumbass.... -Poodle of DoomM! Fear is only as deep as the mind will allow it be. 22:50, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Except the way you said "sounds good to me..." could easily be misinterpreted as you saying the template was good. I'd have thought so had I not just seen the discussion on A/SD.-- SA 01:16, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Um...shouldn't you guys remove the inactive members? Like Canuhearmenow, for instance? --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 22:42, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

They should really remove themselves, and I imagine it would be a little irritating if I've been gone for a month or two and come back not on it. However, I think it would be good to remove anyone without any edits in the last few months, so newbies aren't stuck in limbo waiting for their mentor. I'd say remove the inactive ones, and leave a message on their talk page letting them know that they have been removed. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 23:18, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Well....I don't think Canuhearmenow is coming back in a long time...last time I saw him active was like...January. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 23:24, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Signature Help

I'm having a little trouble with my signature, when I use it at the end of a post then all text put under that turns into superscript, how is this happening? --MikhailTalkJournalGroup

TEST 04:32, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
You need to do what I just did to your signature in your preferences, the </sup> needs to follow the </small> and you need to close all font tags. The new code should look like this;
--<font color=Indigo>Mikhail</font><small><font color=#008800>Talk</font><font color=MediumBlue>Journal</font><Font Color=Red>Group</font><font color=black></font></small> --Karekmaps?! 04:45, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I think I see what I did wrong. MikhailTalkJournalGroup

Little Help?

Hello mentors!

here's hoping you fellows have experience with group pages; I'm currently working on an image for a group, that involves putting a few images together. I'm currently working in paint, b/c i don't have experience with other programs, or the software. I find everytime i go to save my file as a JPG, so i can up load it to the wiki it distorst the colours.

Can anyone provide some advice, or help creating the image? A group image can be very important when recruiting or trying to spread your name. and i've not been able to find a way around this. --Jack S13 T! PC 15:12, 22 April 2008 (BST)

Ok, n/m. I found the PNG format, and it doesn't alter my colours at all. thanks anyway --Jack S13 T! PC 18:09, 22 April 2008 (BST)

Signature problems...?

So this is what happens. when I sign my posts, my signature shows up, albeit modified a bit. The problems I'm having: Jack Kolt Talk|Chars 03:31, 20 March 2010 (UTC) see?

I'm probably missing something here, so If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'd really appreciate it.

I got this. I'll reply to this on the users talk page. --

Worth revisiting

Or not? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 11:28, 1 July 2010 (BST)

Maybe.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 11:41, 1 July 2010 (BST)
In all honesty it's probably worth taking all the newbie-help projects (this, WelcomeNewbie, Project Welcome, et al), and scrapping them, replacing them with an initiative to just grass-roots help people with direct contact instead of a complex system of templates and multiple project pages. We've already got Wiki Questions which can be used a discussion hub, but simply asking all of those who have signed up to pojects like this to check in on Special:RecentChanges often to catch anyone having difficulty and step in to help instead of waiting to be asked would probably end up working out better in the long run. Or, if I understand your original intention, +1. Nothing to be done! 12:19, 1 July 2010 (BST)
Definitely worth it. We need to make an efficient way of pointing newbies into this direction as much as possible. -- 12:48, 1 July 2010 (BST)
