Don't Rewrite History

What I wrote was witty and entertaining. Your 'rewrite' is asinine and lacks any humour. You've completely ruined the story (YES it's a story, duh!). -S Aline 03:32, 9 August 2008 (BST)

Oh, and I edited the 'Fact' I wrote, to include the philisophe knights and zom. Happy now? Sheeeesh. -S Aline 03:43, 9 August 2008 (BST)

I'm afraid that satisfaction is not to be had. The policy of the Urban Dead Wiki is that Location Articles such as this are to be neutral, and if groups are to be included, that they be on equal footing. Certainly, many people do not bother contesting the stories given to various buildings around Malton, but the Mansion is home to several groups, and the Knights have taken issue with your "factual" story. "Rented out" is simply not an option; Might I point out that there was a lengthy stretch of time when the only people who could safely sleep in Southall were PKers (and Zookeepers) known to the Philosophe Knights. The part of your story which I have proposed to revise was not in the least witty or amusing. It was largely unrefined and indeed quite insulting.
The Knights feel that if the wiki should accept your Keane-Owns-The-Mansion story, than it should certainly accept our own claim to the Mansion. You are not the owner of the page simply due to the fact that you wrote a description for it first. If you will scroll down the page, you will notice that our founder, Citizen M, has taken issue with the page long ago as well, and you, Miss Aline, saw fit to insult him instead of providing a dignified reply. The Philosophe Knights have discussed the revision I wrote, and we find it acceptable. I will incorporate our parts, and the part I have written for /zom/ into it. I'm sorry that you are not willing to be more reasonable than I had hoped, but thank you for your time. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 19:36, 10 August 2008 (BST)
Oh, I beg your pardon, I made quite a faux pas in my previous statement when I explained that you are not the sole owner of the page because you wrote the first description of it. You didn't even write the first description of it at all. I do hope you'll forgive that oversight of mine. DTPraise KnowledgePK 19:43, 10 August 2008 (BST)
The fact that your group only occupies the "Left Corner" of any building, you technically should not be allowed to lay claim to any building that has more than a single square. The Philosophe Knights occupy the ENTIRE mansion, thus meaning we hold much stronger sway and influence than you do inside Southall. Your argument is silly and "asinine". As the Professor has stated, all location articles must be neutral. Your stories are far from neutral and take away from the enjoyment of the game for the rest of us. -- THELORDGUNSLINGER 21:59, 10 August 2008 (BST)
Stop being such cry babies. -S Aline 20:10, 11 August 2008 (BST)
I must ask you, is there any compelling reason for your biased history to remain intact, in favor of the revised version, other than that you personally don't want it to change? You say it ruins the story - I would disagree, it adds a few elements to the story which were not there before, but it doesn't actually change the 'outcome' of the story at all (Keane giving the ULC its headquarters in Southall still works beautfully, and without stepping upon the toes of other groups). You say it's not funny. Well, than tell us, oh great humorist, what additions to the revised version would make it wittier? I could throw in a few amusing tidbits here and there, but, after all, this is a community effort. You say it is stupid, despite the fact that yours offends other in-game groups, which have the same stake and interest in Southall Mansion that you do, if not more, and the rewrite fixes at least one solid part of the offending content (/zom/ has made no input as to any backstory behind their claim to the Mansion as of yet). And once again - an I suppose I should stop being surprised by this - you insult us instead of offering a proper defense of your story. Do you even have any reason for your story to occupy any space on the page? I mean, consider, the very first description of the Mansion - the one which you labelled Fiction - is not that bad, and if we just removed the entire Fact section and removed the "Fiction" header...After all, you were the one to say it at the very top of this page; Don't Rewrite History...
But, then again, you may have an absolutely stunning and uncontestable reason for your story to remain intact. Please, Ms. Aline, explain. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 19:17, 12 August 2008 (BST)
And I just noticed that you reverted my edits. Why would you do that without providing a proper reason? I provided my reasons for changing it - the biased factor of your story, yet you just told us that we are cry babies and reverted it. Perhaps, Your Majesty, you have become over-used to your personal power in your group. Why don't you invite another member of the Upper Left Corner here to assist in this discussion? Off-hand, I know Jelly Otter is a member of your fine band of partygoers. Why not ask her to join this discussion? --DTPraise KnowledgePK 00:29, 14 August 2008 (BST)
My dear Professor, I recommend you save your edits elsewhere when you make them so people with no appreciation for your excellent creativity and hard work cannot destroy it by reverting edits. I always back up my work also. --SM 22:12, 14 August 2008 (BST)

Revised History

Due to the biased nature of this location article's Southall_Mansion#Fact section, I've written a revised article to even out the imbalance. This includes much of the original history, but has been edited to reflect current groups, and to add a level of neutrality to the entire thing. If you find a problem with it, do not hestitate to point out the error, and we'll fix it. The resision is in italics, and begins at the fourth paragraph of the section in question.

After the unfortunate triple homicide, Southall Mansion was put up for sale. Nobody would go near the property, let alone buy it, out of fear that such tragedy would follow them too. The price dropped to a drastically low price, until only the Keane family finally showed any interest. The Keane family, who adamantly claimed for years that they had no idea the history of the mansion, purchased Southall Mansion in 1911 for the price of a serving of chips.

After several generations, Charles V. Keane, a noted politician and head of the estate, signed a large portion of the Southall property, including much of the mansion itself, to the Aurther O. Rieghly Foundation, a non-partisan thinktank organization which was intended to further the cause of the fledgling United Nations. The Foundation soon moved its headquarters from Crécy, France, to Malton.

The Keane family, however, disputed the validity of the document, claiming that Charles V. Keane was mentally unstable, and after a lengthy court battle, managed to win back much of the estate, including the entire north-west wing of the mansion. The Keane family continued to live in the entire mansion for several more generations, their everyday lives only disrupted only by the Aurther O. Rieghly Foundation holding bi-monthly meetings in the Ballroom and the Study. This continued all the way until the early 2000’s, and the begining of the zombie outbreak.

Purely by coincidence, the heir of the Keane estate, later known as King Keane I, was an integral aspect of the formation of a survivor group known as the Upper Left Corner. This group of survivors happened to be formed in the upper left corner of Caiger Mall - the very same area that the Southall-Dela Fièvre family was murdered years before.

According to the last attendance list drawn up by the Aurther O. Reighly Foundation shortly before the Quarantine Wall was built, Messers. Moswell and Süßermann and Professors Dfaran LEniarc and James Molly were in attendance, with Moswell presiding as the Foundations chairman. All these names have since cropped up on police reports concerning the Philosophe Knights, and all have been confirmed to be amongst the founding members of the notorious group.

For a time following the outbreak, the Mansion was taken by zombies, recaptured by survivors, and reclaimed by the undead numerous times, until the determined forces of orgnaized survivor groups restored it to its former glory. Among these groups was The Epiphany, which established Southall Mansion as its temporary headquarters.

After the last living Keane, King Keane I, took a permanent vacation from the zombie plague, he left Southall Mansion to the Upper Left Corner. Southall Mansion remains the Upper Left Corner's head-quarters to this day.

The Philosophe Knights - claiming to be a chapter of the Aurther O. Reighly Foundation - established themselves in Southall Mansion in late 2006. They evicted many of the survivors living inside, and for a time few dared to sleep in the Mansion unless invited by the Philosophe Knights. To this day, the Knights claim legal rights to the Mansion, and consider it their only true home.

Lately, the group /zom/ has been seen taking care of the Mansion, and has laid clain to it as their own headquarters. Despite rumours of wild /zom/ parties inside the Mansion, visitors to Southall remark that it is very well taken care of, and no signs of debauchery can be seen.

Now, certainly some areas are sparse, and doubtless will need further contributions from other users, but for now, this is what I have come up with. Feedback would be much appreciated. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 19:42, 30 July 2008 (BST)

Note About Revives

The revive point closest to the mansion is Ambrose Lane.

Revive

Sitting outside the mansion. A revive would be greatly appreciated. thanks. --Bathrobit 12:33, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Rescue

Is the mansion classed as a RESCUE revive point? as there are a few spray painted messages indicating that as well. THere are a few seemingly non disruptive Zombies milling about there and I have let them be until I know what's what. --Roybatty666 21:37, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

NPOV

I removed some pretty POV stuff like Zombie Unwelcome portion from the article, building pages are meant to be NPOV, like Suburbs.--Karekmaps?! 23:05, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Response

Why wouldn't it be in favour of the upper left corner? Southall Mansion is property of the Upper Left Corner, after all. I don't understand the rest of your complaint, but I'd be happy to respond to it as soon as you can phrase it properly, "Dark". Please do not complain about the past events at this location. What has happened has happened, it's in the past, etc etc etc insert another cliché if you so wish. And, finally, it is fact according to the group that cares (obviously the Upper Left Corner :P). -S Aline 05:06, 20 August 2007 (BST)

I'm A Minger

The part about the Upper Left Corner in the 'Fact' section is not unbiased. In fact, there should be no 'Fact' section, simply different legends unless there is some sort of agreement among all the groups who care. Citizen M PK 23:00, 5 August 2007 (BST)

Ninjas?

...a ninja attack in malton?--Amanu Jaku 12:13, 20 July 2007 (BST)

I Can't Type

it seems to favour the left corner a bit to much, i think we should try to not mention groups being left it since that seems, a little over the top...--Darkmagic 14:25, 11 June 2007 (BST)
