Peacetime Lowering of Barricade Level

Defined simply as "lower barricades when the suburb is relatively peaceful", Peacetime Barricade Lowering has several implications. This fact is magnified by the fact that this is the only Police Department in Hollomstown. Here's how I see it:

Survivors, especially new survivors, tend to stay in areas in which they can get experience. Due to the fact that this location is one of very few in the area for survivors to get firearms from, the building should have lower barricades. However, that is neither strategic, nor reality. I assert that the building needs to be left at an Extremely Heavily Barricaded State. When the area is relatively calm, however, I am proposing a "Peacetime Barricade Lowering", where the building would then be accessible to new survivors.

That way, survivors can gain access to guns and have more of a chance at staying in the area. Without firearms, survivors can't easily gain experience, and would leave the area for other areas.

Pros

  • Increased survivor presence during peace time would lead to more survivors willing to defend the area.
  • More survivors willing to defend an area, in turn, leads to larger groups and more alliances.
  • More alliances mean more effective defense measures, decreasing zombie problem.

Cons

  • Zombies can easily take down a Very Strongly Barricaded building, leaving it open to quick attacks that would then cripple the suburb. This is even more obvious seeing as the Police Department is on the northern border, the access way the majority of zombies would take.
  • That leaves the building damaged, and even veteran survivors would have difficulty dealing with zombie attack without firearms (sure Knives and axes are good, but firearms do more damage and are more accurate).
  • Less effective defense means that zombies could more easily take over the suburb, extending their growing red zone.

I leave you with those inputs, but, since I don't plan on staying in the area, it is up to you to decide for yourselves. Discuss to your heart's content, and come up with something. -- SgtBopTalk|Maris Viridis 02:55, 12 July 2007 (BST)
