About Nicknames...

Does anyone know how zombies got the nickname "zeds"? I would like to know. --Ktut 16:17, 6 June 2007 (BST)

In "Shaun of the Dead," the following conversation plays out:

Ed: Any zombies out there? Shaun: Don't say that! Ed: What? Shaun: That! Ed: What? Shaun: The zed-word. Don't say it! Ed: Why not? Shaun: Because it's ridiculous! Ed: Alright... are there any out there though?

I don't know about anybody else, but this is where I picked up the word. It was also very helpful before the character limit was removed from speaking, because "zed" has less letters than "zombie."

I've also seen zombies referred to in game as "Zacks," which may come from military tendency to code enemies by a common first name. (For example, American troops in the Cold War era referred to Communist troops in Vietnam as "Charlie.") MolotovH 08:05, 27 June 2007 (BST)

Zed is, if I understand correctly, the British English way of saying the letter "Z", whereas American English pronounces it zee. I believe, therefore, that zed is merely saying the first letter of the word zombie. Darkxarth 18:13, 6 October 2007 (BST)

Zombie Myths

"It often makes better strategic sense for zombies to attack each other as a slower, but less risky path to acquiring skills. This seems contrary to the purpose of the game, but is nonetheless a practical reality for many zombie players." - is this a common consensus, or just the player who wrote this being stuck in a well-defended suburb? --Spiro 22:14, 5 Nov 2005 (GMT)

This is definatly general consensus. On the forums there is even a thread where zombies post their own profiles os that other zombies can add them and have a chew. --Qwako 22:32, 5 Nov 2005 (GMT)

I'm the guy who wrote that, and I think it was a pretty accurate assessment of the game at the time. Since then, however, Kevan has added 2 zombie skills and things are much better. While the neutral point of view revisions have balanced it well, I think I'll go in and pull the sentiment. It's fun to be a zombie! --John Ember 16:22, 9 Feb 2006 (GMT)

I have a question. Is it really harder to play a zombie than a survivor? Maybe it is because I started playing much later, when headshot didn't remove XP and the fog rolled in. I have pro-human alts, dual-nature alts, pro-zombie alts, and, uh, less favorable alts. I've found that all the alts that did not metagame gained XP faster when they were undead. With the exception of the Necrotech employee that beelined into a mall seige (at the time humans significantly outnumbered zombies so unscanned zombies were a premium). Bystander 22:01, 30 July 2008 (BST)

"Zombie players tend to travel toward a fired flare from a flare.

Really? Is this common consensus or was it written by a ZombieHunter looking to attract n00bs? Personally I have never gone gallivanting after a flare. Now groans, that is another matter entirely. --Alicia Jennings 22:22, 27 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I'd go after a flare if it was fired recently, usually within thirty minutes, or if my map tells me that it was in an open square. Otherwise I'll leave it alone. n00bs, however, tend to go to anything that directs them until they get four or five skills, but these days a flare is a sure sign that its a trap, unless its a signal to a group from spies or cultists. --Atticus 01:09, 19 June 2008 (BST)

I removed "feral" as a zombie class, as it represents an in-game meta-class, not something you can select when creating a character. Including it would be the equivalent of including "bounty hunter" as a survivor class. --Dickie Fux 20:24, 5 Jan 2006 (GMT)

Zombies

Eer, this may seem like a stupid question but how do you become a human again (ie. not a zombie). Is it only from a NecroTech lab assistant or is there another way????

The only way to not be a zombie is to get revived by someone with a NecroTech syringe. It doesn't necessarily have to be someone of the scientist class, just someone with the skills to operate the syringe. -- Ethan Frome 19:50, 19 March 2006 (GMT)

I was looking at the page and some previous arguments from the Zombie players, and I starting thinking about the balance of zombies. As zombies now have a number of new abilities, outnumber the survivirs at my last check, and have significant dominance over one-third of Malton, I was thinking that it would good to acknowledge that the zombies are a fully balanced class, no longer "nerfed". This is not specific to this page, which is balanced and accurate, but I would like to hear the opinions of zombie players on this. --OmegaPaladin 03:12, 15 July 2006 (BST)

At TSO forums, we're all bracing for the dramatic Kevan-shift to save survivor's asses once again, like he did at Caiger 1 with a 200% increase in syringe find rate (which was then reduced), then a Powered Search revive syringe shift of about 150% increase but only in buildings with generators. Because of this history and the advantage that some-what organized and equal numbers of survivors have against even the largest and most organized zombie hordes some/most don't believe that humans are even on a level plane of zombies. The current number dip is an effect of mall-conglomeration making large swaths of (mostly W and SW) malton underpopulated and the size and scope of the Big Bash is such to create an over-load of corpses that cannot be revived effectively. Ackland is suffering because a large percentage of survivors that "restock" in the mall were being sent out into zombie-contested suburbs and dying, therefore draining valuable AP away from mall preperation and defence and proving the incompitence of the leader. --Karlsbad 03:31, 15 July 2006 (BST)

I can only wonder who would be foolish enough to waste AP on something like that... Sonny Corleone WTF 03:45, 15 July 2006 (BST)
The actual Kevan-shift was not that dramatic. It should make life easier on the newbie scientists, and makes clogging revive points much less effective. However, I don't see it being of major combat use. It will probably correct the imbalance in numbers, however. --OmegaPaladin 00:31, 23 July 2006 (BST)

hp

Ran into a Zombie which apparently had over 100 HP. How is this possible? --Alexander Antwerp 22:41, 11 Feb 2006 (GMT)

If he said that, I would deduce that... He's a filthy liar!--William Raker 16:27, 24 May 2006 (BST)
No, it's entirely implausible, yet possible at the same time. When several zombies are in a room, sometimes the computer accidentally adds the two together into one zombie--PIErat 05:00, 9 May 2007 (BST)
This Super Zombie pops up every so often on Bug Reports. If it happens again, it's worth adding what you saw to the super zombie section in Known Bugs. --  T   09:49, 31 July 2007 (BST)

Template

If your a zombie, put this on your user page. {{Zombie}}

ZombieHand.gif Proud To Be Dead
This user is a zombie and proud of it.

I know have put this template on my page. I wonder if theres one for the survivor classes.--Pharo212 20:33, 7 August 2006 (BST) Nevermind, there is. but it uses the same pic.

Hey, uh, how do I put this on my page? --The Shuffler 23:08, 8 April 2008 (BST)

Zombie skills and XP

I'm not sure if this is the real place to talk but if I get revivified,do I lose all my zombie skills or do I get them back after being zombified? I wish to play as a zombie but AP's are precious so can you tell me the best way for getting to upper levels? Is Brain Rot vital?--ZOMBI KEMAL 19:58, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

You always keep the skills. They just go dormant when you're a survivor. Brain Rot makes getting revived super hard, so don't get it unless you're fully leveled up and you want to play a zombie for like forever. If you want to level up quickly I reccomend joining a zombie group that would help you level up. RRF, CRF, Big Bash, FU, EF. --Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 20:29, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the Information,I already have every last Hand attack upgrade now,I think I'll go feral a bit more until I can have time enough to join a zombie group. Barhah! --ZOMBI KEMAL 20:36, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Killed by Gun Zombie?

Ok, I was just killed by a zombie wielding a pistol... I have screenshots to prove this... Is this a known bug or no?

It's a known bug.--Karekmaps?! 01:32, 25 August 2007 (BST)

Rewrite of "What attracts zombies" section

I completely rewrote this section as it was grossly and disgustingly biased AGAINST zombies. On the zombie class page, this section describes strategies for a survivor! Why? The Police officer page lists strategies and tactics for a police officer, but the zombie page is for non-zombies?

All the information that was in this section is still there, it simply no longer assumes that the reader is survivor, but instead assumes that the reader wants to choose Zombie as his starting class to play with, and intends to stay that way and not be a Mrh? cow. I even added a couple little added tidbits of information, such as to look out for pinatas. Iunnrais 03:16, 22 April 2008 (BST)

general comments on this page, on possible rewrites, etc.

First of all, is that blurb about the Tragick and Woefull Historie of TEH HEADSHOT, etc. appropriate in this article? If it is, IMNSHO it needs to be rewritten and placed in its own section. It doesn't belong in a section that should be an informational piece which is used mostly by newbies who want to know about the game's mechanics, etc. The same goes for a lot of the POV and otherwise subjective stuff on this page.

Now I actually want to see this page have some flavour... Because anything we can do to "sex up" being a zombie to newbies is a good thing. However, the page as it is sloppy, poorly organised and rather under-informative. I've started working on it, and fixed the general info parts at the beginning, making it (I believe) more clear and informative. But now the rest of the page needs work.

Comments, critiques, assistance, anyone? How 'bout at least some death threats for challenging "zombie orthodoxies" ;P? --WanYao 22:24, 17 June 2008 (BST)

Under Corpse

Should the bit in the tactical overview about Body Building be changed now that zombies have a skill equivalent (i.e. Flesh Rot)? -- THELORDGUNSLINGER 02:01, 1 April 2009 (BST)

Done. Shoddily I must admit, I'm a little tired. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 02:16, 1 April 2009 (BST)

sway inside open buildings

i really haven't read the zombie guides/tactics (or remember what i have read) ...so if this hasn't been advised before, i advise zombies to "hide" inside open buildings so the External Military can't "see" you (do a head count) ...this will give the EMRs even less credibility & survivors a false sense of security.
