Tatchell Way

Description

History

Tatchell.JPG

As the main road approaching Garnsey Cinema and The Muller Building, Tatchell Way has long been a busy and congested thouroughfare, but its main use stemmed more from its unusually high number of billboards and advertising spaces. Several long-closed shopfronts along the length of the street had, by years and by enterprising advertisers, been turned into eye-level walls of advertising slogans and posters, with hundreds of square metres of pasted-up signage catching the eye of all using the much-frequented road. This phenemenon remains in place after the outbreak, to an extent, though grimly twisted - the old agitprop-style ad campaigns now replaced with trails of gore, vulgar effluence, and the grafitti of street gangs old and new.
