Of course just writing [[User:SomeUserName|]] is enough... Wiki will replace it with the proper link, without the User: part. It actually works for all namespaces, so for example, [[UDWiki:Moderation/Speedy Deletions|]] will look like Moderation/Speedy Deletions. Nope. Or, more likely, yes, but I didn't remember that particular fine point, and never thought to look for it.
