Non-member FAQ

Contacting us

Basic question. How do I contact the Crimson Clan?

Create an account in our forums, and post whatever you want to say in the Contact us board.

I am a member of a friendly group, and I'd like to propose an alliance. What should I do?

For small groups (10 or less active players), it's fairly simple. Create an account in our forums, and post your proposal as a new topic in the board named Contact us. If you're representing a bigger group, start the same way, but be prepared for more discussion.

Recruitment

Can anyone join the Crimson Clan?

Yes, except from a few very special cases.

How do I join?

Follow this link. Copy what everyone else has done! Basically, say who you are, give your character profile URL link, what experience you've got of UD, how often you can be online, etc.

I have several Urban Dead characters. Can they all join the Clan?

No, only one. The Clan has a strict non-zerging policy, and members caught abusing several characters will be punished or even banned.

I'm a former Player Killer. Does that mean I can't join?

Maybe. It requires a bit research on you by us, and you should be prepared to meet obstacles when climbing the rank ladder.

I'm a former member of a zombie group. Will this effect my Clan membership?

For nearly all cases, no. You're more than welcome to join.

I've been kicked out of another group. Can I still join?

For most cases, yes. It depends a little on why you were kicked out & how serious your offence was, but for the most part, we are glad to take you on. Several of our members are former kick-outs, and our experiences with these are mainly good.

My character has Brain Rot. Does that prevent me from joining?

No. Although we ask you to by all means avoid the Brain Rot skill, there are several examples of current members that already had this handicap when they joined.

Weird words and terms

What is metagaming?

Metagaming is to use media other than those included within the actual game to communicate. You're metagaming right now, by using this wiki. Other examples used by Crimson Clan members include our forums.

What is alt-abusing/zerging?

Zerging is the act of using more than one character controlled by yourself to reach a specific goal, or even have them in the same area. The Crimson Clan does not knowingly accept zergers as members.

EHB, 27.50, CC ZE. Beware of GK/RKing PKers. RP here, though not for RPers. WTF?

A list of commonly used shortenings:

AR - Auto Repair

CC - The Crimson Clan (also Cannonball Crew, Cybele's Children, and Cannibal Corps)

EHB - Extremely Heavily Barricaded

FS - Fire Station

GK - Generator Killer

PD - Police Department

PK - Player Killer

RK - Radio Killer (similar to Generator Killer, but includes destroying radio transmitters instead of generators)

RP - Revivification Point (or Roleplaying)

VSB - Very Strongly Barricaded

Zed - Zombie

Genny - Generator

JY - Junkyard

The rank system

I just joined the Clan. What rank do I have?

All new members are part of the Clan's so-called Militia. This division has no ranks at all, as the Militia members aren't required to use the forums unless they want to advance to the Home Guard, whose active forum users are assigned a few different ranks.

I've just been assigned to a Home Guard unit, and there's a lot of ranks now. What is the system?

When you start in the Home Guard (shortened HG), you're ranked Private (Pvt). If you wish to be more involved with the Clan, you may ask to be promoted to the Marines (Foxtrot), the elite fighting force; if you wish to do more reviving and healing, you should ask for a promotion to the Revive Team - Novo (see the page named 'Members and Units').

Each HG unit is led by a Lieutenant (LT).

Miscellaneous

Do I have to metagame?

Although we highly recommend you to metagame, we're not forcing anyone.

If I don't metagame, will I always be in the Militia?

Yes. The Militia was started solely for new members and non-metagamers, and as such, members not using the forum will remain Militia members.

If I go inactive for a while, will my membership be deleted?

If you're a Militia member, no. However, if you're a Home Guard or Marine member, you have to inform your officer of the length and reason of your "vacation", or you will be demoted to the Militia until you prove your activity once again.

I'm dead. Where do I go?

Head for the nearest operational Revivification Point. The points in the Clan territory are clearly marked on the maps.
