Description

The Gwinn Building is an old building located in the suburb of Rolt Heights along the border with Gibsonton to the south. Like many buildings found throughout Rolt Heights, this building was constructed in the 1920's, and what few tourists passed through the area always found some interest in the old architecture, but most residents saw them as a blight, or perhaps a sign of the times... a time which had long ago passed the entire suburb by leaving it trapped in the past.

New developments were far and few between, so brown-stone buildings like the Gwinn Building are not an uncommon sight. The Gwinn itself was, as if to make light of the suburb's fate, turned into an antique store back in 1976. Here the shop keeper sold an odd assortment of furnishings and artwork collected from the dark corners of the suburb, for one did not need to look beyond Rolt Height's borders to find all manner of antiquities. No doubt the store did well enough to stay open, which is more than can be said about many of the other businesses in the suburb, especially the factories, or what few still stood.

An old alleyway behind the Gwinn Building.

After the "Malton Incident" the antique store served as a safehouse for many survivors, although most did not care for the musty smell that clung to the aging furniture. A smell that no amount of airing out could seem to dispel for long. It is for this reason, among others, that survivors do not often stay inside the Gwinn Building for more than a few days. Those that do leave often comment on how uplifting it felt to finally leave that dark little shop, as if silently agreeing to never return. Zombies on the other hand seem to be unaffected by whatever gloom hangs over the building, as they have returned on numerous occasions to search for survivors among the shop's stacks of old books.

Barricade Policy

This building should be Very Strongly (VS+2) barricaded at all times. This is in accordance with the barricade plan set forth by the Burchell Arms Regulars, who routinely monitor the barricade level for this building. This building is meant to serve as a shelter for Malton's inexperienced survivors and entry point into other nearby fortified buildings.

Survivors who find the building's barricades below their assigned level are asked to assist in raising them back up in order to help ensure the safety of all the survivors staying inside the building. Any survivor found raising or lowering the barricades may be directly "put to the question" by any member of the B.A.R. present at that time. If this happens the accused survivor is required to present a valid reason for their actions or be labeled a zombie spy/death cultist and be judged accordingly.

Survivors are reminded that should any member of the B.A.R find the barricades raised higher that Very Strongly without any apparent danger to the building or area they have the authority to lower the barricades back down to Very Strongly in order to restore access to the building from the outside.
