Basic Info:

Description

The Holt Building is an office building located in the suburb of Pescodside. Owned by the Holt Financial Mortgage company which deals in mortgage brokerage for Malton properties. The company is a 45% owned subsidiary of Emaar and provides real estate mortgages to individuals, organizations, and companies for the purchase of commercial, residential, and industrial properties.

The Holt Building, lit up at night by a portable generator while the surrounding financial district is cloaked in shadows.

The Holt Building was constructed in 1986 on property purchased by the Holt Financial Mortgage company, with the building occupying the land before it demolished to make way for the new building. When it was completed the Holt Building served as the hub for the company's financial network in Malton.

In 1994 a scandal rocked Pescodeside's financial district when Jack Yuwai, a new accountant working at the Holt Building, exposed a inconsistency in the books that pointed to over $4 million having been funneled from the Holt Financial Mortgage company into a Swiss bank account. The culprit was Roger Blackmoore, a senior company VP, who along with several other accountants had been skimming money from the company for the past 3 years. When the fraud was brought to light Blackmoore was arrested along with his accomplices, but attempts to reclaim the money were thwarted by Blackmoore's refusal to return the stolen funds. As it turned out Blackmoore was the only one who knew the details behind the foreign bank account and it seemed he was willing to spend the time in jail. This turn of events struck a devastating financial blow to the Holt Financial Mortgage company and their stock prices plummeted as they were forced to absorb the revealed loss in gross capital. In the end the company survived, but did not get a chance to restore its financial position before the "Malton Incident" required them to evacuate the city.

Barricade Policy

This building should be Extremely Heavily barricaded at all times. This is in accordance with the mutually agreed-upon Pescodside Barricade Plan set forth by local survivor groups and the Dulston Alliance, who routinely work together to monitor that the barricades for this building are at the aforementioned level. This building is meant to serve as a safehouse for Malton's veteran survivors.

Survivors who find the building's barricades below their assigned level are asked to assist in raising them back up in order to help ensure the safety of all the survivors staying inside the building. Any survivor found lowering the barricades may be directly "put to the question" by any member of the Dulston Alliance or a vigilante-minded survivor who catches the culprit in the act. If this happens the accused survivor must present a valid reason for their actions or be labeled a zombie spy/death cultist and be judged accordingly. So always be cautious lest you find yourself summarily executed for crimes against humanity.

Current Events
