Description

History

The Roche Hotel was originally founded as the Coach and Four Inn, in the early days of Malton. The Coach and Four was a popular, if somewhat seedy way stop for travelers passing through the area. In 1952, two such travelers, Jean-Philippe and Marie Roche spent the night in the Inn and immediately fell in love with the place. They purchased it on the spot. Or as they liked to tell people: "The Roches checked in, but they never checked out." Due to the rising popularity of motor travel in the mid part of the 20th century, they reinvented the Coach and Four as a motor lodge, and reopened under the name "The Roche Motel". This name, for reasons entirely unknown to them, was hugely unpopular with the traveling public. However with the release and subsequent rise to fame of the Roach Motel cockroach products the popularity of the hotel dwindled. Despite numerous building improvements and vast sums of money spent advertising, travelers consistently avoided the Roche Motel in favor of other area hotels. After years of struggling to break even, Jean-Philippe and Marie decided to hire a business consultant to determine why they were having such trouble establishing their new business.

When the consultant arrived, he got out of his car, took a single look at the building and told them that simply by changing from a Motel to a Hotel they would see their business improve. He then charged them a handsome sum of money and left. Despite concerns that they had just been scammed, Jean Philippe and Marie took the man's advice and sure enough, business immediately improved.

Prior to the outbreak, the Roche Hotel was a highly successful business due to its central location near Anne General Hospital and local business, notably Necrotech.

Barricade Policy

In accordance with the Whittenside Barricade Plan, the Roche Hotel should be Extremely Heavily Barricaded at all times. Entry is via the Dewfall Cinema next door.

Current Status

The Roche Hotel is no longer accepting reservations due to extensive barricad* -ahem- remodeling efforts. Thank you for your interest and we sincerely hope you will think of us when planning future trips to the Greater Malton area.

For our less-alive patrons, dinner is still served nightly on the hotel grounds. We do ask, however, that food not be taken back into the guest rooms. The housekeeping staff greatly appreciates your cooperation in this matter.
